(Text automatically translated) Conveniently located just minutes from the famous Jemaa El Fna square, the entrance to the medina, this charming authentic Riad welcomes you for a relaxing stay in a beautiful decor with the colors of Morocco. The composition of this riad (3 bedrooms) is particularly popular with groups (friends, families, couples) who take advantage of the freshness of the small indoor pool, covered terrace, its deck. The cozy living room (with wood burning fireplace in winter) and is involved in relaxation after a day of sightseeing in the lively Place or colorful bustling souks. Traditional cuisine with refined presentation will be proposed in a romantic and friendly atmosphere. Your reception will be held upon arrival at the airport by taxi and then "Carrossa" until riad.
We just spent two weeks in Marrakesh at this Medina riad and had a great experience. The house was perfect for a family of 5: everyone had their own bedroom with comfortable beds, local decorations, and with modern en-suite bathrooms; at the same time we had the entire house at our disposal, which allowed us to sleep with the doors open towards the inner courtyard, and to have exclusive use of the public spaces: the inviting roof-top terrace, the beautiful living room with fireplace nook, and the inner courtyard with dining space and plunging pool. But the best thing about the riad was Fatima, who came daily to clean and cook. Her Moroccan dishes rival the best Marrakesh's restaurants offer, her conversation was a window into local customs, her natural gentle charm and professional demeanor added a lot to our Marrakesh experience. Highly recommended!
Only three stars given because this is a superb riad, but with some negative features.
A highly distinctive, spacious and elegantly-designed conversion on three floors in the heart of the Medina. This means it is within easy reach of the Place Jemaa el Fna and the other sights of central Marrakech plus many restaurants and other facilities. You want "character" and "local colour"??...you've got it! But you also have to negotiate a maze of narrow, crowded, noisy, dirty and motor-bike infested alleyways to reach the relative peace of the riad. "Relative" because you still have the clamour of shouting neighbours, the noise of workers undertaking the conversion of the house next door, plus the Muezzin waking you up at 5 a.m. every day! But there you are: if you don't want to stay in the "real" Marrakech, don't choose the Medina anyway.
A further advantage of being in the Medina is that you can do a lot of basic shopping in the immediate district, though a far wider choice of international quality (and a good range of alcohol) is available at the Carrefour at the Menara Mall (10 mins., 20 Dh. by taxi from the Pl. Jemaa el Fna)
Now for the no-no's. The stairs in the house are extremely steep and narrow (especially at the top) and not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. This is a pity because it's the only way to reach the pleasant roof terrace and store cupboard and without this access the riad tends to be rather claustrophobic. (No windows at all). Maintenance leaves a bit to be desired (lights not working, shower head broken, gas supply not checked, that sort of thing). For home-cookers, beware: the kitchen is a nightmare! Small, cramped, dirty and cluttered, including left-over and decomposing food supplies and rubbish. This is not YOUR kitchen, it's Fatima's. She herself is charming, friendly and helpful. Just a shame about her kitchen! She offers to cook for you from a menu of standard Moroccan dishes (tagines, couscous, etc), but after seeing the state of her kitchen, food store and rubbish arrangements, we decided against this - despite the ecstatic reviews by previous visitors. We really didn't understand why they were so positive in this respect
On the whole, we had an enjoyable time. Although we are old hands in Morocco and Marrakech, this was our first stay in the Medina itself and it was quite an experience after all.
Note: I have contacted the owner about the above failings, but have had no reply.
Just beautiful, authentic and traditional with just the right infusion of contemporary decor and interior styling.
You can tell Christine has chosen her pieces and decor with patience and care. Every day I would wake and see another piece of detail in the tadelakt, lighting, tiling that made me fall more in love with this beautiful riad.
Fatima is truly an asset to Christine, an amazing petite gentle lady who is extremely good at her job, and obviously takes a pride in her role of caring for the guests of Christine's riad. A true bonus, a font of local knowledge, an amazing cook, we can sing her praises to Christine and all future guests the whole day long.
Christine, you have made a wonderful home and your choice of caretaker in Fatima, a truly excellent one.
Thank you both for excellent communication, hospitality and relaxation.
We would absolutely love to be back and hope it will be possible for us again.
Many thanks from Tracie, John, Jake & Tessa
This is a cozy and beautiful riad with 3 colorful rooms and bathrooms, a charming living room, a terrace and a convenient kitchen. All the main souks and attractions of the old medina are at your doorstep. But … one and only one thing made our experience so worth it, our hostess Fatima. Fatima goes beyond your expectations and will help you indulge in every possible way. A great immersion into the historic Marrakech. A fantastic riad run by an exceptional hostess. Highly recommend.
"Thank you so much! we had a Wonderful 6 day holiday. The riad is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, quiet, safe, secure and in a great loacation.
Fatima is such a lovely gentle person. We all (my mum, brothers and partner) felt so looked after. We had a delicous breakfast every morning and Fatima was always on hand to offer advice or directions.
On it own the riad is wonderful but with Fatima its exceptional!
