Spacious, quiet retreat in centrally located St Remy
Our stay in St Remy far exceeded all expectations. It is hard to know exactly what to expect when you book a place to stay via the internet from thousands of miles away. You look at the photos and the reviews and hope for the best. We were not disappointed. Juliette was incredible. She attends to all details and clearly takes pride in her house and yard. She has such wonderful special touches like a bottle of wine and fresh cut flowers from her beautiful garden. Juliette gave us recommendations for sites to see and restaurants to eat at and all of her suggestions were spot on. She was around when we needed her, and at the same time, we felt like we had total privacy. The accommodations are wonderful and spacious. The bed is very comfortable and it is so quiet that we slept very well. We loved sitting by the pool and enjoying the scenery of Provence. The location is so centrally located for the sites we wanted to see - Avignon, Arles, Nimes, Les Baux, Chatenuef du Pape - all easy day trips from St. Remy. St Remy itself is the perfect place to stay because it is so charming and has a smaller town feel than some of the other places. We would definitely like to stay here again! There is still so much more to see and do in the area. Thank you, Juliette, for your outstanding hospitality.
St. Remy was the PERFECT choice for our week in Provence.
We loved this Charming Villa and it's "Country" feel..Quiet..and just a bit off the beaten path..But close enough to walk to town in 10 minutes. With Every Amenity you could think of And the most incredible Hostess, Juliette..who made us feel like family..Her kindness with our non French was so appreciated..Next visit Juliette we will do better! Our Weather was Spectacular ..(Oct17-23)
76 most days..LOVED the Fresh Air too..
We Bicycled three days in the Alphilles ..(Sun Bikes) visiting the smaller towns like Eygleries, Maussane, and my favorite Les Baux..and so many others surrounding St Remy..We REALLY enjoyed this area of the French Countryside. We also drove to nearby Avignon, Arles, Chateneuf du Pape, L'Isle Sur La Sorgue, and the Incredible Pont Du Gard. St Remy was in the center of all of the beautiful cities and within 35-40 min.
The Markets in St Remy and L'Isle Sur La Sorgue were FANTASTIC..
St Remy has wonderful Super Markets and we enjoyed cooking fresh food at the villa..But.. The Restaurants were MANY and AMAZING...too..nice to walk to dinner...and back..THANK YOU
St Remy hideaway
Bit of a walk into town and very poorly lit rough road entering into the property. Difficult to park a car here.
There was also no washing machine or iron/ironing board in the property and it was advertised as having one. We had to wait for the owner to do our washing which was not ideal.
Another concern was that the owner was inside the property while we were out without our permission.
I'm sorry but I think that you made a mistake when you chose my house . If you like the strong lights and the tared avenues you must choose a flat in the city's center but not an house in a beautiful garden in the end of the path through the olive trees. My guests must like the real charm of the Provence to rent in my house.
I have a washing machine in a special room and I take the linen of my guests 2 or 3 times by week to wash it and after I give back. I respect the environment and like the ecology . I don't want waste the water so precious in my country. For the iron, It isn't a problem, I lend a very good steam iron if my guests needed it.
May be, you forgot that you asked me to change your towels when you wrote that i was inside when you were out without your permission. In this case, it was necessary for me to put inside the towels because during this day , I was obliged to go to Marseille for my business and I came back very late in the night. Here it's a renting and not an hotel ! I'm sorry but I have good manners and I did not mean to do some evil!!
Great apartment, beautiful setting, easy walking to village of Saint Remy
We recently stayed at Juliette’s apartment for eight nights in mid-October (Oct 15th thru Oct 22nd). The apartment is next to her home and looks out on a terrace, garden, beautiful pool, and south to the striking Alpille range. The apartment is two story -- the dining area, small kitchen and bathroom are on the ground floor; the bedroom, sitting room and closets are on the upper floor. Juliette was a very helpful and gracious host, answering our questions and making recommendations during our stay. The apt is a 15 minute walk, or 5 minute drive, south of the village of Saint Remy. It is a beautiful and easy walk and we only used our car to access the village in rainy weather.
The Saint Remy location was perfect for exploring Provence. From Juliet’s apt it is only a 40 minute drive to Arles, the Pont du Gard, Avignon, L’Ilse-sur-la-Sorgue, and the wineries in Chateauneuf du Pape & Gigondas. It is only 20 minutes to the fascinating village of Les Baux just south of the Alpilles.
The terrace and views from the apartment are amazing, and the sunrise on the Alpilles at the beginning of each day is very beautiful. The apartment was very quiet at night. The kitchen is small but the stove and dishwasher worked well. While there is no clothes washer in the apartment Juliette was very helpful when we needed to do laundry. The wi-fi system is strong and worked throughout the apartment and on the terrace.
As a special bonus the apartment is only a 10 minute walk from the Saint Paul Asylum where van Gogh spent the year 1889 after his time in Arles. They have created a moving tribute to van Gogh there and highlight many of the 150 classic paintings he created during the year he lived and received treatment there. Next door to Saint Paul’s there is a very well preserved and fascinating archeology site of the Roman village of Glanum which was built from 100 to 300 AD and had a population of over 10,000.
The restaurants in Saint Remy are great and there are wonderful boulangeries, markets, and shops in the village.
We recommend the apartment, Juliette’s hospitality, and Saint Remy.
Splendid Stay, Awesome owner, and BEAUTIFUL Provence!
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We found the home, the location, the owner and especially Provence to all be beyond our expectations. Such a beautiful place - with wonderful food and incredible scenery. But what we enjoyed most were the people, including Juliette. She was simply terrific. The house is very private, with a pool right outside your front door and a very easy walk to town. I simply can't say enough about how much we enjoyed St Remy. It's a great hub for day trips, the market is a blast, and there are numerous restaurants to occupy your evenings. We loved it here ! Thank you Juliette for everything. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND this property :)
A beautiful property in beautiful St. Remy.
Juliette the owner was very pleasant and helpful from the time she greeted us to the time we left. The property is exactly as presented on the web site with no surprises which we appreciate immensely. A very comfortable rental and a nice pool you have to yourself. All the cooking materials and dish ware you need for simple meals but of course town and restaurants are only a 15 minute walk away on a road with a sidewalk.
A very private property in which we felt secure.
Of course plenty to do within St. Remy and within easy drives. You can walk to Glanum and the Roman Antiquities ad well as the asylum Van Gogh created 150 paintings in.
My wife and I highly recommend Juliette and her gite.
Thank you so much Jackie and Dennis !
