House / Villa - Saint Remy de Provence
average rating of 4.724138 based on 29 reviews
Redwood City, CA

St. Remy was the PERFECT choice for our week in Provence.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this Charming Villa and it's "Country" feel..Quiet..and just a bit off the beaten path..But close enough to walk to town in 10 minutes. With Every Amenity you could think of And the most incredible Hostess, Juliette..who made us feel like family..Her kindness with our non French was so appreciated..Next visit Juliette we will do better! Our Weather was Spectacular ..(Oct17-23)

76 most days..LOVED the Fresh Air too..

We Bicycled three days in the Alphilles ..(Sun Bikes) visiting the smaller towns like Eygleries, Maussane, and my favorite Les Baux..and so many others surrounding St Remy..We REALLY enjoyed this area of the French Countryside. We also drove to nearby Avignon, Arles, Chateneuf du Pape, L'Isle Sur La Sorgue, and the Incredible Pont Du Gard. St Remy was in the center of all of the beautiful cities and within 35-40 min.

The Markets in St Remy and L'Isle Sur La Sorgue were FANTASTIC..

St Remy has wonderful Super Markets and we enjoyed cooking fresh food at the villa..But.. The Restaurants were MANY and AMAZING...too..nice to walk to dinner...and back..THANK YOU

St Remy hideaway

  • 2 of 5

Bit of a walk into town and very poorly lit rough road entering into the property. Difficult to park a car here.

There was also no washing machine or iron/ironing board in the property and it was advertised as having one. We had to wait for the owner to do our washing which was not ideal.

Another concern was that the owner was inside the property while we were out without our permission.

Great apartment, beautiful setting, easy walking to village of Saint Remy

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed at Juliette’s apartment for eight nights in mid-October (Oct 15th thru Oct 22nd). The apartment is next to her home and looks out on a terrace, garden, beautiful pool, and south to the striking Alpille range. The apartment is two story -- the dining area, small kitchen and bathroom are on the ground floor; the bedroom, sitting room and closets are on the upper floor. Juliette was a very helpful and gracious host, answering our questions and making recommendations during our stay. The apt is a 15 minute walk, or 5 minute drive, south of the village of Saint Remy. It is a beautiful and easy walk and we only used our car to access the village in rainy weather.

The Saint Remy location was perfect for exploring Provence. From Juliet’s apt it is only a 40 minute drive to Arles, the Pont du Gard, Avignon, L’Ilse-sur-la-Sorgue, and the wineries in Chateauneuf du Pape & Gigondas. It is only 20 minutes to the fascinating village of Les Baux just south of the Alpilles.

The terrace and views from the apartment are amazing, and the sunrise on the Alpilles at the beginning of each day is very beautiful. The apartment was very quiet at night. The kitchen is small but the stove and dishwasher worked well. While there is no clothes washer in the apartment Juliette was very helpful when we needed to do laundry. The wi-fi system is strong and worked throughout the apartment and on the terrace.

As a special bonus the apartment is only a 10 minute walk from the Saint Paul Asylum where van Gogh spent the year 1889 after his time in Arles. They have created a moving tribute to van Gogh there and highlight many of the 150 classic paintings he created during the year he lived and received treatment there. Next door to Saint Paul’s there is a very well preserved and fascinating archeology site of the Roman village of Glanum which was built from 100 to 300 AD and had a population of over 10,000.

The restaurants in Saint Remy are great and there are wonderful boulangeries, markets, and shops in the village.

We recommend the apartment, Juliette’s hospitality, and Saint Remy.

Splendid Stay, Awesome owner, and BEAUTIFUL Provence!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We found the home, the location, the owner and especially Provence to all be beyond our expectations. Such a beautiful place - with wonderful food and incredible scenery. But what we enjoyed most were the people, including Juliette. She was simply terrific. The house is very private, with a pool right outside your front door and a very easy walk to town. I simply can't say enough about how much we enjoyed St Remy. It's a great hub for day trips, the market is a blast, and there are numerous restaurants to occupy your evenings. We loved it here ! Thank you Juliette for everything. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND this property :)

A beautiful property in beautiful St. Remy.

  • 5 of 5

Juliette the owner was very pleasant and helpful from the time she greeted us to the time we left. The property is exactly as presented on the web site with no surprises which we appreciate immensely. A very comfortable rental and a nice pool you have to yourself. All the cooking materials and dish ware you need for simple meals but of course town and restaurants are only a 15 minute walk away on a road with a sidewalk.

A very private property in which we felt secure.

Of course plenty to do within St. Remy and within easy drives. You can walk to Glanum and the Roman Antiquities ad well as the asylum Van Gogh created 150 paintings in.

My wife and I highly recommend Juliette and her gite.

Beautiful Property!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at this beautifully decorated two-story extension to this authentically French provincial style home located in Saint-Remy-de-Provence The garden is delightful and guests are provided with an outdoor table and lounge chairs around the pool. Very relaxing! The cozy second level includes a queen bed and a living room area. The front window overlooks the pool and has a view of the Alpilles Mountains! The first floor provides a pleasant dining room with a mini kitchen and charmingly tiled bathroom area with separate enclosures. We felt very at home with ample room for the two of us. (An extra twin bed is also located under the stairwell.)

Our hostess and homeowner, Juliette, thought of the all of the amenities to make guests very comfortable. The mini-kitchen is equipped with a variety of appliances and the eating area has a large country French cupboard filled with pretty tableware. We enjoyed preparing meals with delicious food from artisanal shops and the Wednesday morning open air market in the heart of town which is a short walk from the property. There is also a mini-market to walk to and a supermarket and organic market nearby. In addition to the many possibilities for home cooking, there are plenty of wonderful French cafes and restaurants in the town.

Also accessible by foot, are the Roman ruins of Glanum and a site for Van Gogh aficionados to visit. There are many neighboring towns to explore such as Roussillon, with colored hills known for ochre used in artists’ paints. Looking for lavender? There’s also a museum in the vicinity which interprets the history of its cultivation.

We found this house to be in a great location for art and nature lovers as it is centrally located between Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles and the Camargue Wetlands!
