We recently stayed at Juliette’s apartment for eight nights in mid-October (Oct 15th thru Oct 22nd). The apartment is next to her home and looks out on a terrace, garden, beautiful pool, and south to the striking Alpille range. The apartment is two story -- the dining area, small kitchen and bathroom are on the ground floor; the bedroom, sitting room and closets are on the upper floor. Juliette was a very helpful and gracious host, answering our questions and making recommendations during our stay. The apt is a 15 minute walk, or 5 minute drive, south of the village of Saint Remy. It is a beautiful and easy walk and we only used our car to access the village in rainy weather.
The Saint Remy location was perfect for exploring Provence. From Juliet’s apt it is only a 40 minute drive to Arles, the Pont du Gard, Avignon, L’Ilse-sur-la-Sorgue, and the wineries in Chateauneuf du Pape & Gigondas. It is only 20 minutes to the fascinating village of Les Baux just south of the Alpilles.
The terrace and views from the apartment are amazing, and the sunrise on the Alpilles at the beginning of each day is very beautiful. The apartment was very quiet at night. The kitchen is small but the stove and dishwasher worked well. While there is no clothes washer in the apartment Juliette was very helpful when we needed to do laundry. The wi-fi system is strong and worked throughout the apartment and on the terrace.
As a special bonus the apartment is only a 10 minute walk from the Saint Paul Asylum where van Gogh spent the year 1889 after his time in Arles. They have created a moving tribute to van Gogh there and highlight many of the 150 classic paintings he created during the year he lived and received treatment there. Next door to Saint Paul’s there is a very well preserved and fascinating archeology site of the Roman village of Glanum which was built from 100 to 300 AD and had a population of over 10,000.
The restaurants in Saint Remy are great and there are wonderful boulangeries, markets, and shops in the village.
We recommend the apartment, Juliette’s hospitality, and Saint Remy.
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We found the home, the location, the owner and especially Provence to all be beyond our expectations. Such a beautiful place - with wonderful food and incredible scenery. But what we enjoyed most were the people, including Juliette. She was simply terrific. The house is very private, with a pool right outside your front door and a very easy walk to town. I simply can't say enough about how much we enjoyed St Remy. It's a great hub for day trips, the market is a blast, and there are numerous restaurants to occupy your evenings. We loved it here ! Thank you Juliette for everything. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND this property :)
Juliette the owner was very pleasant and helpful from the time she greeted us to the time we left. The property is exactly as presented on the web site with no surprises which we appreciate immensely. A very comfortable rental and a nice pool you have to yourself. All the cooking materials and dish ware you need for simple meals but of course town and restaurants are only a 15 minute walk away on a road with a sidewalk.
A very private property in which we felt secure.
Of course plenty to do within St. Remy and within easy drives. You can walk to Glanum and the Roman Antiquities ad well as the asylum Van Gogh created 150 paintings in.
My wife and I highly recommend Juliette and her gite.
We had a lovely stay at this beautifully decorated two-story extension to this authentically French provincial style home located in Saint-Remy-de-Provence The garden is delightful and guests are provided with an outdoor table and lounge chairs around the pool. Very relaxing! The cozy second level includes a queen bed and a living room area. The front window overlooks the pool and has a view of the Alpilles Mountains! The first floor provides a pleasant dining room with a mini kitchen and charmingly tiled bathroom area with separate enclosures. We felt very at home with ample room for the two of us. (An extra twin bed is also located under the stairwell.)
Our hostess and homeowner, Juliette, thought of the all of the amenities to make guests very comfortable. The mini-kitchen is equipped with a variety of appliances and the eating area has a large country French cupboard filled with pretty tableware. We enjoyed preparing meals with delicious food from artisanal shops and the Wednesday morning open air market in the heart of town which is a short walk from the property. There is also a mini-market to walk to and a supermarket and organic market nearby. In addition to the many possibilities for home cooking, there are plenty of wonderful French cafes and restaurants in the town.
Also accessible by foot, are the Roman ruins of Glanum and a site for Van Gogh aficionados to visit. There are many neighboring towns to explore such as Roussillon, with colored hills known for ochre used in artists’ paints. Looking for lavender? There’s also a museum in the vicinity which interprets the history of its cultivation.
We found this house to be in a great location for art and nature lovers as it is centrally located between Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles and the Camargue Wetlands!
We stayed on this property beginning May, 2016. The suite is joined to the main house . The doors from the suite open up to a beautiful yard and just steps to a nice pool. The yard is landscaped with beautiful rose bushes , olive trees, palm trees etc. The yard is accessed by driving your car thru a automatic gate and parking is right next to the house. The location is fabulous. Very close to the hospital Van Gogh resided in for a year and a short walk to Glanum Roman ruins. A few hundred metes from the property and your walking down incredible country lanes by beautiful fields and country homes. The walk in to town is may be 10 minutes, and on the way there is a small grocery store. The town is small and very nice . After travelling around Provence , we thought St Remey was a ideal location to base from and our favourite town in the whole area. Julliet ( the owner ) was extremely nice and helpful . We had a great trip thru Provence and our stay here was a big part of it. Thanks Julliet, Brian and Maureen, Vancouver Canada
Arriving tired and jet lagged from Canada we were very happy to see our "home" in Provence. It is all the more inviting with Julliette making sure that your needs are looked after. We found the location ideal; quiet and rural yet less than a 30 minute walk from St. Remy. The setting is outstanding, with a well maintained garden, view of the mountains and a pool to keep you cool. The fully equipped kitchen, the modern bathroom and shower all added to the feeling of being at home. We will be back again...soon we hope.

Note that for all this, I shall guide you and give you every good addresses or advice that your days are enchanting. You will always find at home a lot of brochures on attractions and maps of schools to recommend for foodies (restaurants, shopping mills olive oil, chocolatiers, confectioners, address areas for good wine etc. ..) In the summer, I even added all festival programs around: music, opera, theater .. Adoring my area, I always make me happy to get to know it in all its facets!
