About the property

Luxurious Self Catering Gites at the Unique Estate of The Abbaye de Bois-Aubry.

Our two gites, dating back to 13th century, have been completely restored, providing a good balance between French tradition and modern comfort, enhancing the spirit of your holiday. The gites are located by the outdoor swimming pool and entry to the private estate is through the main automatic gates. Each gite has a private parking space within the communal area, ensuring secure parking for your peace of mind. The gites, La Porterie, and Le Grenier A Grains are of different sizes, have individual gardens and the Abbaye, as a romantic backdrop, ensures harmony and privacy. As a holiday destination, there is so much to see. We will offer you a guided tour of the estate where you may also visit the tomb of Yul Brynner; the glamour of Hollywood in rural France!

We, Christine and Marc-Oliver, welcome you to our unique home. We live on the estate and will be available to greet you on arrival and assist you daily if required. We speak fluent English yet will be happy to develop your French.

And for the little "fans", you'll find the last info on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/ABBAYE-DE-BOIS-AUBRY/103914159863

Heaven on earth!! 💖💖💖

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Where do we start? The setting is absolutely idyllic. We stayed in the Porterie, next to the abbey. Cosy yet perfect. The house had every mod con we required yet still had all its rustic charm.

Our hosts made us feel like a part of the family from the moment we arrived yet were never intrusive in our holiday. They showed us around the historic setting and advised on all the surrounding points of interest. They were always on hand when we needed them.

We travelled with a thirteen year old and a six year old. The wifi connection meant we had a happy teen and the swimming pool, fully stocked with toys for the children, kept our six year old happy for hours.

Charming, relaxing, perfect!!

Very Special place.....Extra special hosts!!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing family holiday we had this year! We were so fortunate to spot this beautiful listing on the homeAway website but be warned, even those fabulous photos and rave reviews could not do full justice to the magical place that is Labbaye de Bois Aubry! We at once felt so privileged to live for a week alongside the abbey in accommodation that was luxurious, spotless and extremely well equipped. The grounds were picture postcard perfect and the wider area was steeped in history and culture... a week was just not long enough to explore its riches.

We holidayed with 2 teenagers and a preteen , who spent their days swimming, exploring and absorbing more history than they had ever learned in school.

Last but not least we must give huge credit to our exceptional hosts Mark and Christine who brought the abbey to life for us and went above and beyond all expectations to make our stay the fabulous success that it was. To our new friends Mark an Christine, a huge Thank you from us all. For anyone considering a visit to Labbaye.....Go for it, you will certainly be delighted!

Rural Idyll

  • 5 of 5

An absolute find! Really fell for the look of this place when it came up online, and booked as soon as knew it was available. Very happy to discover it in the middle of very peaceful countryside, but within easy access of a walled town, Richelieu. Traditional village restaurant a few minutes drive away.

Very welcoming and knowledgeable hosts in Marc and Christine, who have lovingly restored this gorgeous Abbaye. Nothing too much trouble, Happy to chat and assist whenever possible. Have now booked to return and would thoroughly recommend to those who are seeking a quiet base to discover this lovely area of France. Top tip - take a telescope, as the skies are so clear at night! And if you are travelling with children - the treetop rope course at St Benoit Aventure is definitely worth a visit!

Geweldige locatie; prachtig vakantieverblijf

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Our superior gites are located in Indre et Loire, Department 37. The Abbaye, surrounded by pretty little villages also has easy access to the motorway networks and is on the doorstep to culture with a lovely landscape for walking or cycling. We are surrounded by pretty, romantic chateaux, museums, vineyards and caves, market towns selling locally produced foods, galleries and the Atlantic coast is roughly two hours away. The Abbaye not only makes a successful base from which to explore the area, it is a place for you to relax and take pleasure in the quiet and breath-taking beauty of the historic setting, closing out the possibly stressful demands of modern living.

Our village, Luze, has the quaint little bar on the corner, facing the old church. The church retains its role as fundamental to the community; the bells toll each morning, calling the farmers to work. It tolls again for them to stop for lunch, resume after and finally, at the end of the day, for them to finish work and enjoy a 'pastis' in the bar. Fortunately, the toll does not reach us! Our closest town is Richelieu, a 'walled cite', built by Cardinal Richelieu, an ally of Louis XIV. Richelieu is of a grid construction with very impressive houses, a park, historic market hall, opened on most days and cafe bars situated around the square. The facilities you may need can be found here.

(Text automatically translated) We are Luzé the heart of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Park. Besides all the sporting opportunities available to you Luzé (horse riding, fishing, mini-golf, tennis, football, bowls) you will find less than 20 minutes: kayaking, golf, gyms. More than 20 minutes: ULM, parachuting, ballooning. Besides his luminous landscapes (valleys, rivers and forests) of the Indre-et-Loire Department shines its rich tourist offer: daily markets, sports facilities, cultural activities (cinema, theater, concerts, etc..) Seasonal events , concerts, tours of the Loire castles and various historical sites, entertainment parks (Futuroscope, Lake St Cyr, St. Benedict Forest, etc..) and leisure vineyards (Chinon, Bourgueil, Saumur ...) , gastronomic steps.
