(Text automatically translated) At the heart of the medieval village of Beynac, in the shops and small inns, this house of the fifteenth fully restored in 2000 in a charming spirit will seduce you with its exceptional location on the river and the nearby castles. Very comfortable, cool in summer with its stone walls, outdoor terrace, private pool offer breathtaking views of the Dordogne River. What joy in the morning to go through the streets in shops in the village, very friendly, lunch or drinks his coffee in the small village restaurants.
Charming property in a great location overlooking the Dordogne river. We could see 3 chateaus from our deck, and Beynac castle was a short walk up the steep cobblestone streets behind our villa. The house was very comfortable, clean, and well-equipped.....nice decor and good kitchen.....all as advertised. Loved Beynac and the surrounding area.....so much to do and see and beautiful countryside all around. Many of the most interesting villages and sites are a short drive away.....Domme, LaRoque Gageac, Chateau des Milandes, Les Jardins du Marqueyssac, Lascaux II, lots of bastide towns and street markets, etc. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this property.
This home was exactly as advertised. It is nicely located in the Dordogne River Valley conveniently located near many area activities, shops and restaurants. If you are looking for pure relaxation, there is a wonderful deck and private pool area overlooking the river. The living area provides comfortable seating. The Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for our visit. The home was clean and well-appointed and all communications with the owner, Catherine, were responded to in a timely manner. If you are not steady on your feet or have a large vehicle, this may not the property for you. The village street leading to the provided covered parking area is narrow (I’m glad we didn’t have a vehicle that was larger than a midsize SUV). There is a very short walk (up and down) on a cobbled path including some stairs to reach the home from the parking area. Once again, if you are not steady on your feet, you need to be aware that the bedrooms are on the 1st floor and the Bathroom is located on the ground floor. We loved staying at this home and highly recommend it. Catherine, thank you for making this home available.
Location Location Location! - I don't think the description and photo's do Catherine's property justice!
Wonderful property, hassle free, pool fantastic, views amazing, proximity to the Castle and beautiful town so easy! - We parked the car and didn't use for the whole week!!!!
[- Not a big deal if you're mobile but the walk from the car to the house was around 100m over cobbles and up and down relatively steep steps. Bear this in mind for anyone with accessibility issues - take a sack truck maybe - if and when we go again that's what we'd do to make luggage transfer easy!]
Book now for next summer - amazing - THANK YOU CATHERINE! BEAUTIFUL!!!
This is a wonderful house in a beautiful town. The owner Catherine was a delight. She met us at the bottom of the hill and guided us up to the house. It is a very narrow road for our big car but we managed it. The garage is large but careful driving is needed to enter it. The house had spectacular views over the river. It was well furnished and had good quality sheets and towels. My husband and I slept in the downstairs bedroom which had its own front door, bathroom and patio. My teenage boys had the two bedrooms at the top of the house with again amazing views. Many hours was spent in the pool and perfect for all of us to cool down during some very hot days.
Beynac is wonderful to wander round. Very steep hills but well worth the exercise. The castle is a 5-minute walk from the house. Lots of restaurants around and a handful of shops.
We booked the day before for the kayaking at the waterfront in Beynac. A bus took us to Vitrac and we spent a leisurely journey (3 -4 hours inc stopping for a picnic) back to Beynac. For us this was the highlight of the week.
We would definitely be happy to return to the house and area.
The views are superb across the river and rolling hills of Dordogne. Be entertained by the passing canoes and hot air balloons whilst eating on the balcony or swimming in the pool. Less than 5 mins walk to restaurants and a 10-15 min walk for shop/croissants etc. We stayed during a hot few days and the house was kept pleasantly cool. It was great (and a rare thing in Beynac) to have parking a few m away in a cave/garage. The road up to it is quite narrow for a large car - but possible with care. Lots of steps around the property and of course cobbled and hilly streets that comes with being in the centre of a medieval castle village. The house and its position are a bit of a wow and tick most boxes (view - tick, pool - tick, centre of a beautiful medieval castle village - tick, walking distance to things to do - tick...). Is there anything that could be improved? Not much - the pool was unheated - so quite chilly (justs needs a bit of black hose pipe and a pump should do it) & the shower was a bit pathetic. But the positives are huge for this place.
Top tip - if you do the canoe trip down from Vitrac to Beynac (It's wonderful) use the company down by the river edge (they have a small office), they take you by minibus up river. With this method you don't need a car at all and you end up on your doorstep back in Beynac.
The owner was very reliable with her communications.
"We have spent a holiday in the Dordogne at least once a year for the past seven years. We have stayed in some superb houses in that time (including Mr and Mrs Peiro''s other house in Cazenac, in May/June 2010), but nothing compares to this wonderful house.
The accommodation is tasteful, clean and comfortable, and every appliance you may require is provided and to the highest specification.
However, the star attraction is the actual location - right in the centre of the old village, overlooking the river.
Magnificent does not do it justice.
Just to cap it off, the owners, Mr and Mrs Peiro, are so friendly, and always available for help and assistance when required.
In summary, I can only say this... If I won the Lottery, I would be asking Mr Peiro to name his price!"
