Lovely house and perfect for exploring the Dordogne

  • 5 of 5

The house is exactly as pictured, has a well-equiped brand new kitchen, is immaculate, and has an incredible view of rolling hills, chateaus and the Dordogne River. It was the perfect location to explore the caves, chateaus, and charming towns like Beynac and Dome. Catherine was very nice and the house was ready with linens and a detailed book with suggested restaurants and things to see and do. Highly recommend staying here and would happily go back!

Beautiful and tranquil

  • 5 of 5

Another fantastic holiday in beautiful Beynac-et-Cazenac. We stayed here last year, and a repeat visit did not disappoint! There have been some wonderful renovations which makes the kitchen nice and bright. The pool is perfect and great for hot summer weather. And again our favourite part of the day - evening drinks on the balcony watching the hot air balloons over the stunning countryside. We were not ready to leave! Thank you again Catherine for a wonderful stay.

Quiet and clean, with great views!

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend this house with a swimming pool, on a hilltop outside Beynac. The photos are accurate, and the home is clean, tidy, and well-stocked for any cooking, if you decide not to eat at all the wonderful restaurants. Our family with two teenagers very much enjoyed the swimming pool on the hot July days, and the quiet of the house provided a peaceful and relaxing vacation setting. We enjoyed going canoeing on the river, exploring nearby castles at Beynac and Castlenaud, touring Roffignac and Lascaux II caves to see prehistoric cave art, and eating at several of the fabulous restaurants recommended by Catherine. Thanks so much for hosting us!

Owner's Response: Cazenac is a very quiet place near all the tourist spots (castles, caves, villages, gardens, markets, ....). I provide a notebook in which people can find all the good places to eat, ..... the day of arrival I give them full of useful tips.

Calm, Tranquil and totally Chilled Out

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more delighted with our house. It was quiet, peaceful and we totally chilled out whilst there. The views from the house are breath taking and we spent many an evening lingering over tea or late supper watching the Hot Balloons in the valley below. The cottage itself is beautiful, rustic, very old, tastefully and lovingly restored by Catherine who could not have been more helpful. She is on hand a few doors away if we needed her for any reason. The house was well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Whilst it was not a problem to us, it could be for some in that the three bedrooms were upstairs in the roof area. They were large and air conditioned, but access was by two spiral staircase which I could imagine to be difficult to negotiate if you were not so fit or elderly. The kids would love them though. The swimming pool was a nice size and we were fascinated by the robot which cleaned it every morning. I fell in love with the Dordogne and this little cottage certainly played its part in that. Thank You Catherine for a very memorable holiday.

Owner's Response: I am very pleased that these tenants have enjoyed the house. Last winter we did works to modernize and refresh decoration (floors, kitchen colors, electricity) and I'm glad that people appreciate and be happy with their stay.

Perfect house with stunning view

  • 5 of 5

What a find! This place is just wonderful - it feels like you're a million miles away in a tranquil little hamlet, yet only 5 minutes drive to the local 'beau village' of Beynac. Good access to bigger towns of Sarlat (15 minutes by car) and St Cyprien (10 minutes) for larger markets, which is a must! Canoeing on the Dordogne river is a great day, and absolutely stunning - a really good way to see the Dordogne from a different perspective. The little towns surrounding the house have great restaurants for either lunch or dinner, although I have to say we spent most late afternoons/evenings at the house enjoying the pool and view!

The house itself is beautiful - a converted barn with 2 good sized double bedrooms (with air-con!) and a slightly smaller double. Lots of communal space for a group of friends or family to enjoy. There is a great BBQ area just next to the good sized pool (which came as a welcome relief in the 35 degree heat!). Pool-side loungers were available which overlooked the Dordogne valley - absolutely fantastic! The terrace off the back of the lounge was really the highlight of the day - sundowners on the terrace in the evening overlooking the Dordogne countryside with hot air balloons drifting along the valley, we couldn't have asked for more!

Catherine, our host, was great. Very easy to arrange payments/check in and always accessible. Merci Catherine! We will be coming back to visit soon!!

"This is the most perfect...

  • 5 of 5

"This is the most perfect holiday accomodation, ideally situated for all of the main attractions of the area but in a peaceful village away from the crowds. The interior of the house is beautiful and the views from the terrace stunning. The hosts were efficient and kind but very discreet. We could not have asked for more."
