Architect designed, timber frame house built in 2005, with a floor area of approximately 3,000 sq. ft. Three bedrooms are on the lower floor, together with laundry facilities, access to the hot tub, and a double garage. A new, fourth bedroom recently added. The first floor is open plan with vaulted ceilings and large windows with views to the mountains and out across the Columbia River valley. There is a large lounge area with satellite TV, DVD, a formal and informal eating area, the den, and a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. There is a covered deck at the front of the property suitable for BBQs. The house is set in its own plot with simply landscaped gardens and its own locally crafted 'Inukshuk'. The property is situated about 300m from the base of the main gondola giving access to the ski and mountain bike terrain of the Kicking Horse mountain. It is a 10 minute drive from an excellent golf course in Golden. Located conveniently for visits to Banff and Lake Louise.

I wanted to be involved in the design, so bought the land and then engaged an architect. It is often described as one of the best houses in Kicking Horse - judge for yourself.
Open plan living with fabulous uninterrupted views
Sit at the valley end of the great room and watch the sunrise.
Ski back to the front door after a day on the slopes.
It is very difficult to sum up just what an amazing ski trip we have just had and a small part of us does't want to share our knowledge of this special place with anyone else!
We flew to Calgary and spent 2 nights in Lake Lousie on our way to Kicking Horse.
We arrived at Inukshuk on Saturday evening and were immediately impressed by the space and luxury of this stunning chalet.
Compared to chalets in Europe it is huge and there was no need to debate who had which bedroom as they are all a good size with large beds and ensuite facilities. The only question is who controls access to the outside hot tub and who gets the spa bath!
The bedrooms are downstairs off a large entrance hall which also has acces to the double garage which is heated and perfect for boots and skis.
The first floor is a massive open plan space with two dining areas, a well equipped kitchen and a cozy lounge area with a massive fire, and lots of windows with stunning views.
We self catered and did our shopping in Golden on the way. We were concerned there might not be enough space for our food but there is plenty of storage including a large fridge freezer (the shop in Kicking Horse itself is limited).
The chalet is a little way from the lift station but we only had to walk about 100m to the end of the road before putting on skis and sliding to the lifts. At the end of the day we skied back to the end of the road and it is the closest to ski in ski out we have ever had in Canada.
As for the mountain and the skiing I am not sure I have enough words left to do it justice. We had a completely mixed group of six with two complete beginners through to some fairly competent skiers. The slopes provided everything we wanted and more.
The area at the bottom of the mountain has got some great beginner slopes and the tuition was excellent so I am told! The rest of the mountain has everything from a selection of intermediate pistes through to four superb bowls which have everything including steeps, chutes, tree skiing and fantastic snow!!!
The other amazing thing about this holiday was how quiet the resort is. There were some short queues for the lift at the weekends and when there was lots of fresh snow but once on the mountain you could ski from top to bottom and only see a handful of people. The locals are also extremely friendly and we skied with a number of people who showed us some great runs.
An amazing experience would recommend it to everyone. Can't wait to go back. Thanks.
One of the most beautiful, spacious and luxurious homes we have ever stayed in, far exceeding all expectations. The accommodation is truly 5 star, tasteful and lavishly furnished, every need catered to and 360' views of the surrounding mountains. Kicking Horse is a picturesque mountain village with good restaurants and an abundance of things to do and see for all ages. We managed to fit in white-water rafting, pony trekking, hiking, canoeing, water skiing & wakeboarding, hot springs, visits to numerous waterfalls, mountain lakes, National Parks, Boo the local grizzly bear and the wolf sanctuary. Evenings were spent relaxing on the balcony with a glass (or two) of wine, or in the jacuzzi, taking in the beautiful views. An absolute dream week and would fervently recommend to anyone.
The house is located in Kicking Horse Resort above the town of Golden, British Columbia. Golden is on the main Trans Canada Highway - the primary east west route - about two and a half hours drive from Calgary. Vancouver is seven to eight hours drive further west. Golden is on the Columbia river at the confluence with the Kicking Horse river. The valley runs north south and is part of the Rocky Mountain trench. The location is ideal for easy access to other resort areas; Banff, Lake Louise, Canmore, Radium Hot Springs, and Invermere, all with one and a half to two hours drive time.
The house itself is located on Golden Avenue, a cul de sac of just 15 houses, approximately 300m from the base of the gondola, the main lift access from the centre of the resort to the top of the local mountain and the Eagle's Eye restaurant. Golden Avenue is the third turning on the right after passing the gondola.
Not yet shown in detail on Google Earth.
Other Activities: Wolf sanctuary. Grizzly Bear refuge. Day trips to Banff, Lake Louise
Golf: www.golfgolden.com. Excellent golf course in Golden, close to the Columbia River.
Golden's 11th hole rated best par 4 in BC.
Other great courses nearby at Invermere and Canmore
Ski: Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has the second highest vertical in Canada (after Whistler), but because it is inland has better snow - champagne powder.
The resort is better suited to the competent skier/boarder as many of the runs are challenging, but there are good beginner areas and a very capable snow school.
There are cross country and snow shoeing trails. Dawn Mountain Nordic Club
The Eagle's Eye restaurant at the top of the gondola has won the award for the best mountain restaurant in North America for three years in succession - great food, but not expensive.
