Too hot in the summer
The layout of this apartment is great. It was perfect for our family of four with the kids in one room and adults in the other. It was great to have a kitchen and washing machine. The beds were comfortable and not too soft. The kitchen had pots and pans and plates and cups and utensils but no essentials like salt, dishwashing soap, etc.
While we were in Budapest, the temperature outside was around 82-85F (28-29c) and the temperature inside this apartment was about the same if not more. We opened all the windows and turned on both fans that were provided but the heat on this fifth floor apartment was unbearable.
The bathroom was functional but poorly maintained. The sink didn't drain, the shower had mold in all the corners and the light fixture kept going on/off. Not deal breakers but a bit disappointing. We didn't bother contacting the owner to remedy this as we had only 4 days at the place and wanted to focus on sightseeing rather than dealing with these issues.
One thing we noticed is there is a cell tower on the roof of this building . In fact, it's right on top of the main bedroom. If I had known this, I would not have stayed here because of the radiation risk.
In all, this place would probably be ok during cooler weather (if you're ok with the radiation risk from the cell tower directly above the bedroom) but definitely wouldn't recommend it during the hot months.
Great property in the heart of the city with lots of great places to eat and shop nearby. Most of the main attractions within walking distance with a young family. Only used the public transport once for the zoo and baths and that was easy too. Flat was comfortable in a busy safe area with everything you would need for self catering (if you want it). Rita arranged for a cab to pick us up and drop us to the airport. Communication was excellent as well. A wonderful stress free stay in a fabulous city.
Safe walkable location. Excellent base to explore Budapest and vicinities.
We spent 7 nights at this place. Apartment is conveniently located , very close to metro , tram and grocery stores. Has well equipped kitchen . Good size windows and high ceilings make rooms feel large enough and comfortable. Internet was reliable. Owner was very easy to contact and fast to respond. We enjoyed our stay.
Excellent location, plenty of room, great base for seeing everything
I spent a few nights here in early April.
First, let me say that yes, I can imagine the lack of air conditioning in summer months to be an issue. There are HUGE windows that can be left open to allow a nice cross breeze, but I do not know how well it would cool things off in August, especially with this being a top floor apartment.
But other than that, this apartment was perfect for me. First, the location -- a nice quiet side street but just a block away from Central Cafe, Vaci Street, and two blocks from Deak metro stop -- seriously, the location could not get any better. Want to walk in the morning to the Central Market? 5 mins. Want to have a beer at Jonas Craft Beer on the river during the sunset? 5 minutes more. Ride my bike or walk on on the Danube? It's right there. Walk across the Chain Bridge? Minutes away. Go to a museum, or the ruin pubs? Everything minutes away.
If you're looking for an apartment that is the epitome of opulence, perhaps this isn't the one for you. But for me, I need a place that is clean, quiet, convenient, and has good water pressure (I like my showers). This place has it all.
The perfect apartment to explore Budapest from
This apartment could not have been any more perfect for us. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon for 5 Days, and our only complaint was that we couldn’t stay longer. The location was perfect- convenient to pretty much everything. The apartment was extremely clean, and had everything we needed. Rita was always available to answer questions and was very helpful and nice. We hope to make a return trip soon!
Dear Emily, I'm happy your honeymoon went great, and that the apartment served you well! You are welcome anytime in the future!
Mixed feelings on this place
Ok, first I will tell you the good which is the location and layout of the apartment. Plenty of space and logically layed out. It is a nice quiet street just off the quiet side of Vaci St. This does have some minuses though. Restaurants in this area are lower quality and higher price than you can get off the beaten path but this is certainly something you can overcome by doing your research beforehand. Now the negative, DO NOT visit this apartment in the heat of summer. You will regret every moment you spend in that hotbox. There is no AC which I can understand but what is unforgivable is not having a fan in at least more than one room. There was one for the whole place, I mean come on, this is an easy 100 dollar fix for getting the air moving around a little bit to get some level of comfort. The next problem is the plumbing as water didn't drain effectively in the shower and after a short 4-5 minute shower it was in danger of overflowing. It took at least 3-4 hours before anyone else in the family could shower. The last complaint would be that the furniture is a tad tired out. The couch in the main living area was just plain bad. Overall we were not disappointed enough to spoil our holiday or even make a complaint to the owner so understand that we did not give her a chance to rectify the problems we encountered but we would look elsewhere upon our next visit to the lovely city of Budapest.
I can provide transport from/to the airport.
Closest metro station (5 min by foot): M3 metro, Ferencziek Square
Tram Number 2 which goes along the Danube is also 5 min by foot.
