The living area has a queen sofa bed, loveseat side tables, games and books, and a comfy reading chair. Each bedroom also has large windows with amazing views of the lake and forest creating a tree house feeling. Each features a king size iron bed with quilt, cozy down comforter and pillows, and luxurious 500 thread count sheets. The private baths have either a large walk-in shower or shower over bathtub, granite countertops, Italian tile, radiant heated floors, luxury towels, shampoo and body lotion amenities, and hair dryer.

About Tracy Lucente & Bill Houck

Bill & Tracy, during a 2005 visit to Bend, fell in love with the Tumalo Lake property and the original cabins which had been built in the 1930s. After moving to Bend in 2007, several years were spent obtaining necessary land use and building permits and trenching 1 1/2 miles to bring in electricity and phone. Construction began in 2009. The Hillside Cabin was completed in October, 2011, the Creekside Cabin in June, 2012, the Lakeside East Cabin in June, 2013 and the Lakeside West Cabin in October 2014. Eventually, a main lodge will be built.

Why Tracy Lucente & Bill Houck chose Bend

Central Oregon, and Bend, Oregon in particular, are well known for both Summer and Winter sports. Enthusiasts from near and far visit for hiking, biking (road and mountain), skiing (Nordic and Alpine), snow shoeing, boating, fly fishing, rock climbing, etc. Tumalo Lake Lodge is ideally situated in the middle of the nationally known 'Phil's Trail' mountain biking trail system. In Winter, these and other trails and shelters form an extensive snow shoeing/x-country trail network. Tumalo Falls (97 feet tall) and area hiking trails are just 3 miles away. Tumalo Creek, 2 miles away, affords fly fishing opportunities. While staying at Tumalo Lake you are staying on a private square mile of forested land surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest but still only 12 miles to Bend and all it has to offer.

What makes this cabin unique

Quality of lodging. seclusion and spectacular private setting only 15 minutes from Bend. Enjoy all of the outdoor activities, galleries

Tumalo Lake was stocked with Rainbow Trout in 2013 which are now averaging 16' and another 1000 were stocked in September, 2014. There are also some sizable native Brook Trout-- get your fly rod ready!

Weather permitting, we will be maintaining an ice skating rink on Tumalo Lake this Winter.

Peace and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

If you want a place that is peaceful, this place is for you. Cabin was beautiful, enjoyed a hike around the lake, grandkids loved kayaking on the lake, yoga on the deck by the lake, fishing. This place is close enough to Bend for enjoying the town.

Thanks Bill and Tracy, we enjoyed our stay.

Amazing cabin near beautiful Bend

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (two teenagers) really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is off the grid so no cell, wifi or tv. But that is what made it great for us. We paddled and swam in the lake and played games and did puzzles in the evening. We loved the hike up past Tumalo falls. There is so much outdoor fun in this area we hope to go back.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased that you had a great time! Thank you for taking time to post this review. For those considering a stay at Tumalo Lake, indeed it is truly a very special and unique place to enjoy being in nature with the comfort of casual luxury and close proximity to all Bend has to offer. Regarding connectivity, the Lakeside West cabin is the only cabin that does not have WIFI. The Creekside, Lakeside East and Hillside cabins do have WIFI, although the service is slow and can be erratic. There is Verizon cell phone service in many areas in/around the cabins, but not with other carriers at the present time. Each cabin has a land line with free unlimited U.S. calls.

Stunning, peaceful getaway -- absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about our stay. The cabin itself is new, and clearly built and furnished using the finest materials, and with the utmost attention to detail.

...Calling it a cabin is like calling Mt. Bachelor a hill-- small or rustic it certainly is not.

However, if you're looking for the solitude and quiet reverie of the forest, you'll find it here. The luxury cabins are situated on a small, but lovely and calm lake, with kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and life jackets all available for guests' use. We spent a lot of time on the lake, and were treated to sights such as a bald eagle flying overhead, perching in a tree at the edge of the lake, and diving for fish. There were large, unusual crane-like birds wading in the shallows, and the chorus of a thousand frogs on a moonlit walk around the lake.

If I could, I'd live there.

Thank you, Bill & Tracy-- we'll definitely be back!

Didn't want to leave..

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about this property and the folks that run it.

The cabins are beautiful and the property is private and stunning.

Coffee in the hot tub overlooking the lake, a 20 mile mountain bike ride on world class single track right from the cabin, my daughter catching her first fish on fly, grilling and enjoying Bend craft beers on the serene deck, post-dinner sunset SUP and kayak, followed by a campfire under the stars.. and that was just one day!

Tracy was great through email in the pre-trip process and Bill and Avery were welcoming and very personable on the property.

Already planning our next trip to Tumalo Lake!
