About the property

Close to Everything--Modern Touches in Beautifully Renovated Victorian.

We invite you to make yourself at home and enjoy a truly unique Portland experience. Feel the pulse, and hear the sounds of the urban activity in our central location, smell the wafts of nearby restaurants preparing gourmet delights, see the bright colors of artists in action right out the front door. Surprises are always around the corner in this safe and creative Southeast Portland neighborhood.

The Belmont House is a solar-powered, newly finished renovation/conversion of an 1886 Victorian in the heart of the Rose City. The 1 bedroom main floor unit sleeps 4 people. The bedroom opens to the back with an outside, private, covered sitting porch--a great place to sit at the bistro table enjoying a quiet, secluded moment looking out at the beautiful landscaping and large backyard. There is plenty of space to congregate. Enjoy the front parlor, sit in the dining room with fireplace and books, or gather in the kitchen, pulling a stool up to the concrete counter tops. The stone patio, which magically lights up with sparkly lights after dark, is a great place to be in good weather. When the weather starts to cool, the fire pit can extend your outdoor time and add to the romance of your stay!

About Deb Grant

The 'small city, big town' aspect of Portland is what drew us to Portland 25 years ago. I'm a Montana girl who loves the vibrancy of an urban atmosphere and the culture of both the countryside and the town. My husband Chuck and I have partnered on many projects through the years. He currently lives on site, and I live a mile away. We enjoy working together and have put a lot of love into the Portland Belmont House. We now enjoy sharing it with others.

Deb Grant purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Deb Grant chose Portland

We bought this property because of its location, bones and vibes! 128 years of stories to tell. A diamond in the rough with unique character and hidden elegance made it a place worth putting our heart and soul into renovating. The rustic concrete counter tops and restored original cabinet (found on the back porch) balance out the vibrant splashes of color and high end appliances of the kitchen. Solar panels, stagger studded walls, and ample insulation look to the future while the 8' wood pocket doors, original fir floors, and intricately carved wood work reveal the past. All new electric and plumbing, and sound absorption channels between floors, help remove the unnecessary aggravations of the past to better enjoy the beauty of the space.

What makes this apartment unique

The Belmont House provides a quiet, comfortable home stay within a vibrant, fascinating part of Portland. We are 3 blocks from the famous Sunflower Intersection at SE 33rd and Yamhill, a uniquely Portland part of Portland. The house charms people. The great yard, patio, barbecue, (and fire pit too!) make a person feel out in the countryside, yet, only a block and a half away are the shops, world class, affordable restaurants, gourmet grocery stores, food carts galore. Public transportation is a stone's throw away. Drive down the street and you are in downtown Portland in 4 minutes. Everything you need right out your door.

Beautiful home, great location, wonderful host!

  • 5 of 5

Could not have anticipated the charm and beauty of this historic home. Attention to detail was evident throughout the house. The home is close to shopping, restaurants, bars. Deb is a great host, her husband is a nice guy. They went out of their way to make us feel at home...and we did!

Lovely home, gracious host

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure to stay in this wonderful home while visiting Portland in August. Everything was perfect, from the spacious and well-appointed home to the lovely backyard with bbq to enjoy. The apartment was recently renovated while maintaining the old Victorian charm, so practical yet warm and inviting. Though equipped with a window air conditioner, I preferred to keep windows open and was quite comfortable, minimal street noise, and the beds were comfortable. No doubt this will be my go-to place when staying in Portland. Thanks to hostess Deb!

Beautiful apartment, thoughtful owner

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for two nights in August with my husband and kids. The place was beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay. Deb, the owner, was so friendly and helpful; she gave me a bunch of great suggestions for places to take the kids. We were able to walk over to Stumptown every morning for coffee and pastries. Street parking, but we never had a problem finding a spot right in front.

Great location, great space

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect way for us to experience Portland. The apartment is located near restaurants and other commercial establishments, but it also allows for pleasant walks through residential neighborhoods. We enjoyed seeing the houses and their gardens. (Yeah, we're a little nosy that way.) We also liked walking over the Burnside Bridge to Powell's - a little under 3 miles from door to door - but there is public transportation available if that doesn't suit. The apartment itself has enough room to spread out and make oneself at home, and we appreciated that the kitchen was stocked enough that we could cook meals at the house (Whole Foods is an easy walk away). The evenings were beautiful, so we used the backyard grill and ate dinner on the patio. This is a convenient little oasis run by friendly, informative people, a great way to to absorb a little of Portland's texture as opposed to just passing through.
