Our holiday house "Il vecchio Forno" is situated in the very central Via Boccaccio, in a red-brick building dating back to 1200, a few steps from the Pretorian Palace; it was the ancient seat of Certaldo Alto bakerey, now transformed into a confortable house with old style furniture

From here you go into a hall with an ancient wardrobe and a sofa, from here you reach 2 double bed room and them into the bathroom with a shower. The kitchen also has a cooker with electric aven and a fridge.

But the most fascination part of this residence is it garden equipped with tables, chairs, deck-chairs and barbecue. The garden ends with a pergola over a tower which is part of ancient walls of Certaldo alto. All around, the green Chianti hills makes you full in a very unique atmosphere.

The accommodation was spacious and very clean. There is a lovely garden for you to sit/eat in with fabulous views. Certaldo alto is a very friendly village and the ice cream parlour opposite is lovely.

A wonderful experience in Certaldo Alto

  • 5 of 5

Dear Antonio and Laura,

Thank you for the allowing us to stay in your beautiful property in the heart of a truly medieval part of Certaldo.

The property offered everything we required including a lovely large garden at the rear, which has wonderful views of the Tuscan countryside.

It is a fantastic base for easy trips by train, from the centre of Certaldo to Florence and Siena and by car to San Gimignano.

We were also very lucky to experience the annual medieval dinner, which was spectacular to watch. The main street was lined both sides with tables and a feast was presented along with entertainment in medieval style with street performers, music and a fireworks display.

There are various types of bars and restuarants all within easy walking distance of the property.

We have many happy memories of our visit and hope to return in the future.

Kind regards

Roy and Judith Ellis

Wonderful Tuscan Experience

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Antonio and Laura's apartment for 9 nights. My daughter is studying abroad in Certaldo Alto and I wanted to immerse myself in the Italian culture. My niece and I felt so comfortable in this apartment. We loved spending time in Certaldo Alto as well as taking day trips to various places via the train (so easy). The restaurants are wonderful there and not very expensive. I believe that Messer Boccacio had the best pizza in Italy! Antonio and Laura were so kind. Antonio met us at the train station as well as took us back when it was time to leave. They were such wonderful hosts and so helpful and kind. The beds were comfortable and there is so much room in this apartment. It has a full kitchen and nice bathroom. They have a washer that they welcome you to use. The added bonus is the beautiful backyard that overlooks Certaldo Basso and the beautiful countryside. The only glitch we had was that did not realize that he needed to be paid cash....this was an easy fix because there was a bancomat in town. I would highly recommend this place for and enjoyable relaxing vacation!

My family and I (3 children) found Antonio and Laura’s Certaldo Alto’s apartment wonderful, clean and very comfortable. We were greeted by Antonio upon our arrival. He helped us with our luggage and showed us through the apartment. Antonio was kind enough to show me around Certaldo Alto and where to park the car. His tour also included a little history of Certaldo Alto and its people.

Antonio’s description of the apartment on Homelidays was conscience and the photos depicted the apartment accurately. I strongly recommend the apartment and would certainly consider returning to say next time we are in Italy.

Warm regards...Robbert
