A True Northwoods Property
This was perfect for our group of four. Very clean, well stocked kitchen, good shower, and comfy beds. Two things I would mention for potential renters, you will need to carry your bags and belongs up one flight of stairs. Secondly, if you have someone sleeping on the futon, they might want to bring an eye mask for sleeping because there is no curtain on the sliding glass door and so there is quite a bit of light in the early morning. FYI, these were NOT problematic for us, but might be for someone else. We will definitely recommend this property to others and we would stay there again if we are in the area.
Hi Mary. Thanks for being another great guest! I have thought about drapes for that east facing sliding door. However, am concerned about tripping since its at top of stairs and on way out to the deck. Best to be safe! Sleep mask is good suggestion for lighter sleepers. Thanks again!
Everything you need...
Great little secluded spot not far from downtown Crosslake. For our family of 4 there was plenty of room, and since we like to make our meals, the *fully* stocked kitchen was amazing. If it matters to you, TV antennae connection was spotty (we wanted to watch the Vikes game) and we had no connection to WiFi until we realized the box was near the window by the dining table. Once we got close we could connect better. Nice stock of games and movies for late night family fun and the trails around the property were an added bonus. Loved sitting down by the lake in the early morning (you have to walk the short trail to get there) but do wish we could have seen more of the water from where we were. The lake the property is on isn’t a boating/swimming lake, but there are plenty nearby to take full advantage of. :) Cindy was so great to work with - excellent communication and flexible with our check in. (Thanks Cindy!)
Thanks for the kind words, glad you had a nice stay and hope you can come again. One thing about the internet is that we struggle with speed as well. But the good news is that the fiber optic cable was "plowed" in this summer and we have been told that we should get the "connection" sometime this fall....so that should get better for everyone!
All is quiet in the woods.
We were at a dead end. It could not have been any quieter. We looked out the window and we are right next to the tree tops. There were flowers on the railings, all different colors. I really don't think the property could have been any cleaner with every thing in it's place. We could not have asked for anything more.
Lovely place, would recommend.
Perfect guest house
Our family has a cabin just down the road and this place couldn’t have worked better as extra space for our family reunion. Comfortable, well equipped, and air conditioned. Thank you!
Karen...glad you had a great time with your family. A pleasure to have you as our guests! Thanks for choosing the Guest House. Hope your future plans bring you back our way!
My parents have stayed here for our family trip for 3 years now. They absolutely love it. Cindy is easy to work with, the property is adorable and it's in a great location! So glad we found this place!
Thank you for the kind words...so glad to have your parents stay with us again! Thanks again for choosing to stay with us again this year!
Crosslake has a small town, neighborhood feel and features dozens of lakes, including the 14 interconnected lakes of the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. In all, the Whitefish Chain includes more than 13,500 acres of water, 119 miles of shoreline, and dozens of bays and islands. The Chain offers great opportunities for boating, fishing, skiing, swimming, and so much more. The dockside restaurants are a favorite in the summers and also provide beautiful views for winter sledders.
The Pine River Dam in Crosslake – at the U.S Army Corps of Engineers Recreation Area—just 3 miles from the Guest House is a sight to see on the Whitefish Chain. You can watch the rushing water from the overlook or cast a line and try your hand at fishing. The Cross Lake Recreation Area offers a wonderful sandy swim beach, nice shady picnic areas and a convenient boat launch with large parking areas. Crosslake is one of the most picturesque communities – year-round – in all of Minnesota. All four seasons are thoroughly enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Recreational opportunities are plentiful throughout the seasons.
And, Crosslake is more than just a stopping point on the road. It is a town offering an amazing hardware store (if you can’t find it there you probably don’t need it), a large, modern grocery store, over a dozen great restaurants (many lakeside), several banks, churches, gas/convenient stores, and shops. And, a sports rental shop is nearby that rents snowmobiles and jetskis. And all these conveniences are just 1-3 miles from the Guest House.
A great thing about the Guest House is how easy it is to get to town (a mile or so and it’s a fairly easy walk or bike ride in the summer and for snowmobilers, you just follow the groomed trail right from the driveway) yet enjoy the seclusion of the 18 acres of woods surrounded by wildlife areas and views of two environmental lakes.
