About Daniele Sandrelli
I'm Daniele Sandrelli the owner of the farmhouse. The villa is situated in the center of our farm. We produce saffron, wine and lavender. My family lives here since 1865, but the farmhouse was restructuring on 2005. In the past was an ancient agricultural structure building at the beginning of the 1900's. Restructuring the villa was inspired by the typical Tuscany style: stone walls, "cotto" tile floors, joists roofs and beds in wrought iron and big terrace with porch.
Daniele Sandrelli purchased this House in 1865

Pure Perfection in Charming Tuscany
We fantasized about this place for months, based on the pictures and I thought we would be disappointed because our hopes were so high. But we weren't; it was even better than the pictures. The gravel driveway up to the property winds through the family's vineyard; the family makes and sells lavender bath and home products; and the family cat would come visit. It was quiet, peaceful and views that went for miles, the only sounds were birds serenading you, and an occasional barking dog. The property was modern and fully equipped, absolutely perfect. The location is perfect to explore Tuscany: Castellina is a sweet small village that feels authentic and still a bit undiscovered; Florence, Siena, San Gimiagnano are easy drives. We've stayed at many VRBO rentals, and this one is easily the best. We'll be back for sure. One word of advice is to make it to Coop grocery store in Castellina by 20:00 (8pm) before it closes, to get staples you need for the house.
Clean, plenty of space, helpful owner (lives next door). Had a great 5 day stay. Within approximately one hour drive of many Tuscany towns / sites. Great local restaurants. Had an awesome brunch / wine tasting / tour of Castle Meleto. Great for kids (10 and 6). Only issue is the signage to get to the house from the main road. Look carefully for the sign pointing to "La Lavender", which is the name of the rental. Also, the gravel road to get to the house is not a long distance, but might not be great for a very small rental. We had a small SUV that did fine.
Just what we expected. Beautiful and relaxing. Great place to branch out from on day trips.
Villa was perfect. Daniella’s mother met us and got us settled in. Sweet lady. Daniella checked in often as well and was always quick to respond to our questions.
Wonderful farmhouse in great location!
We loved our stay at Castellina in Chianti! Daniele's farmhouse is adorable and comfortable and he was most accommodating with any request we had. The farmhouse is in a great location very close to town which made evening dining out very doable. Our first week was spent hiking (often directly from the farmhouse) in the morning and exploring nearby hilltowns in the afternoons. Since it was somewhat off season for tourists we found the towns to be easy to explore--the hardest part was making sure lunch locations were open, but locals were helpful with this. We went to Florence for the annual Christmas tree lighting--in fact, it was fun to see the trees and decorations in all the towns! There was a Christmas market in Siena with stall after stall of Italian foods and crafts. We also enjoyed a trip to Cinque Terre and hit a beautiful sunny day for a hike along the shoreline. If you have a small family, this is a perfect location to stay--we did have a couple join us for the second week which was fun, but the living space can be a little small for four adults (probably better in the warmer weather when you can use the back porch which is wonderful). Otherwise, it is a beautifully appointed farmhouse with very nice bathrooms and all the extras you could need! Enjoy!
Wonderful experience to have stayed at the farmhouse.
The property is located on the Chianti Wine Trail close to many wonderful wineries. The town of Castallina in Chianti has great restaurants. We made day trips to Siena, Pisa, Florence, Assisi and San Gimignano. A rental car and GPS are essential. We used WAZE on our cell phones for easy navigation. Highway signs are poorly located so navigation with printed maps is difficult.
The property is well managed and we did not need any assistance from management once we were checked in. Looking forward to returning in the future.
Lovely Farmhouse in Tuscany
Four of us stayed in this lovely farmhouse in the heart of Tuscany. Only a few minutes away from town, we were able to shop in the local grocery store for our breakfasts and have dinner. The kitchen and laundry facilities were helpful. Siena, San Gimignano, and other Tuscany towns were close enough for day trips. The vineyard, Castellare in Castellini, was just down the road. Charming and immaculately clean, the farmhouse was a welcome respite between our stays in Florence and Rome.
(Text automatically translated) For those who come from Northern Italy suggest the exit A1 "Firenze Certosa" to take the Firenze-Siena exit "San Donato". Once in San Donato continue in the direction of Castellina in Chianti, from there after 3 km towards Greve in Chianti on the left at 300 mt from 222 ss you have reached the farm. For those who want to reach the farm from SOUTH recommend the A1 exit "Val di Chiana" to take the Bettolle-Siena, came to Siena, take the Siena-Florence exit "Monteriggioni". Follow the signs to Castellina Scalo and then to Castellina in Chianti, from there after 3 km towards Greve in Chianti on the left 300 meters from the SS 222 you have reached the farm.
