About the property

Farmhouse between Florence and Siena surrounded by vineyards and oak woods

Farmhouse in the heart of Chiantishire at 3 kms minutes distance from the historical township of Castellina in Chianti. 23 kms from Siena and 37 kms from Florence. The villa is set at an altitude of 600 meters.

We are surrounded by vineyards and oak woods a perfect place to run away from busy city life or to relax. The great location close to the most important art cities of Tuscany and close to the major streets of our land make our villa a perfect solution to discover Tuscany.

The villa is suitable for 4 people and consists of two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, multifunctional whirpool shower, and a large kitchen with all the comforts.

From one of the two rooms can be accessed the great terrace with porch from which is possible to arrive on the ample garden with sight on the hills of Chianti and on the valley of the Chantishire.

The ample garden (1 hectare - 100 ares) is protected by a 2 meters high fence. It gives a real and fully privacy to our guests. The house is 50 meters far from our house so for any information or questions guests can always count on us.

About Daniele Sandrelli

I'm Daniele Sandrelli the owner of the farmhouse. The villa is situated in the center of our farm. We produce saffron, wine and lavender. My family lives here since 1865, but the farmhouse was restructuring on 2005. In the past was an ancient agricultural structure building at the beginning of the 1900's. Restructuring the villa was inspired by the typical Tuscany style: stone walls, "cotto" tile floors, joists roofs and beds in wrought iron and big terrace with porch.

Daniele Sandrelli purchased this house in 1865

Fabulous Tuscan Villa

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked this villa for the entire month of October 2017, in celebration of our 45th anniversary. The villa was everything that we expected, and more. Since Casanuova di Pietrafitta is located about 40 km south of Florence (and 2 km north of the beautiful village of Castellina in Chianti), we rented a compact car at the Florence airport. The added advantage of the rental car was that we were able to easily get around to see the various nearby towns and villages.

When we arrived at the villa on October 1, we were met by our host Daniele, who showed us the villa and mentioned some of the nearby attractions. The villa is located on a working farm (Agritourisimo) that produces lavender, saffron, olives, and grapes. The farm also has numerous fruit trees, the fruit of which had mostly been picked. However on our arrival, Daniele presented us with a bowl of fresh, organically-grown peaches that were the last of that crop. The town of Castellina has numerous restaurants, an excellent grocery store, and many small shops that cater to tourists. (Naturally, there are many wine shops that make it very easy to ship wine back home – all at a very reasonable price.)

While in the region, we visited many neighbouring towns and villages within an hour’s drive of Casanuova, most notably Florence, Siena (our favourite), San Gimignano, Volterra, Greve, and Radda. Additionally, we took advantage of being relatively near to Cinque Terra and Pisa, both within a 3-hour drive from the villa.

Our vacation was blessed with daily sunshine (one rainy day) and warm Tuscan sun which provided daytime temperatures in the low to mid-twenties (degrees Celsius). The added advantage of travelling in October was that this was the tail-end of the tourist season, meaning that the major attractions were less crowded. This was especially true from mid-October on.

We absolutely recommend Casanuova di Pietrafitta to anyone wanting to experience the warm, friendly atmosphere of Tuscany.

Couldn't have been better. Highly recommend this place. Privacy, beauty and culture all in one place. Very clean house with everything you need. Full grocery store in Castellina for food etc. Close to everything in the Chianti region. A rental car is a must. Perfect getaway!

Farmhouse Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

This farmhouse is so incredibly charming! We spent a week here while on our honeymoon. It is perfectly located in central Tuscany for day trips to see Florence, Siena and all of the beautiful medieval towns dotted throughout the countryside. The house is very comfortable and quite spacious. The back terrace is the perfect place to relax and look out over the gorgeous rolling hills. We really enjoyed coming "home" to this little house every evening after sightseeing!

The cottage was perfect and Daniele was a great host. It is a very homey place with wonderful views out the back terrace. Really appreicated the wine selection that was there for you to purchase. Would definitely return to this stunning part of the Chianti region.

(Text automatically translated) For those who come from Northern Italy suggest the exit A1 "Firenze Certosa" to take the Firenze-Siena exit "San Donato". Once in San Donato continue in the direction of Castellina in Chianti, from there after 3 km towards Greve in Chianti on the left at 300 mt from 222 ss you have reached the farm. For those who want to reach the farm from SOUTH recommend the A1 exit "Val di Chiana" to take the Bettolle-Siena, came to Siena, take the Siena-Florence exit "Monteriggioni". Follow the signs to Castellina Scalo and then to Castellina in Chianti, from there after 3 km towards Greve in Chianti on the left 300 meters from the SS 222 you have reached the farm.
