Ideally located, this sunny and peaceful apartment offers one master bedroom with king size bed, large wardrobe and a private bathroom; a second bedroom/office with two single beds and its own private bathroom with shower, and a large open living room and kitchen with spectacular views over the Tuscan countryside.
This apartment has been completely restored with a contemporary sense of space for living and its spacious interior tastefully furnished.
Both bathrooms have large showers and colorfully decorated with Italian tiles.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped for Italian cuisine. A breakfast table and a round table complete the dining. Couch and armchairs, and bookshelves with tons of guides, maps and books assure a relaxing time after touring the city.
Windows overlook on both sides of the hill, and provide views and nice breezes during the summer. All windows are equipped with screens.
One more thing…….don’t miss the sunsets from your windows!
I was born in Florence. I currently travel quite a bit but spend most of the year in Missoula, MT. I'm a pharmacist and an international public health consultant with particular focus in HIV, TB and malaria. Whenever possible, I fly back home. I love to walk from the hill of Pian de Giullari down to Florence. I'm always amazed at the beauty of these places.
silvia puliti purchased this apartment in 2008
My work takes me away from Florence.
For years I have tried to find a property on the hill of Pian de Giullari. This is not an easy catch! Forever home of the Florentine aristocracy, owners keep their residences in this hill within the family, and very rarely properties here come to the market.
The place has always represented to me the ideal location to live or visit Florence. The tiny neighborhood of Pian de Giullari, located on the south hill of Florence, retains its full charm and opens up over both beauties: the Tuscan countryside and the uniqueness of the city of Florence. Close enough to reach by walking the old part of town, yet so quiet and secluded. The city bus (#38) stops in the little square below the apartment. The traditional trattoria Omero serves delicious meals, and offers takeaway, sells food, coffee or a glass of wine, like in the old days.
After so many years, I'm still amazed at the beauty, the views, the enchanting parks, villas, little churches, and overall the peace of this place.
My family and I stayed at the apartment for five days. It was very convenient to have the local shuttle drop us off at the front door! Beautiful views out all windows. Lovely decor throughout the apartment. Very clean and neat. Our only change would have been to have window treatments to close out the bright light from the street during the night. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
My husband and I spent three wonderful nights at this hillside apartment on the outskirts of Florence. The location is quiet but close to public transportation which works very well. The apartment is so well equipped with everything that is needed for a comfortable stay. The bathroom is definitely one of the best that we had while traveling in Europe. A nearby restaurant which was suggested by the owner was perfect for a great dinner. I would certainly give this rental a top rating.
The two of us stayed for a week in June, for both work and a short vacation preceding it. The apartment is absolutely beautiful, super comfortable, with two bathrooms, a full bedroom plus a smaller office/alcove which can be closed off as a separate bedroom with its own bathroom. The kitchen is very well-equipped, there is a small living room, a breakfast table and a dining table with stunning views. We were a little concerned at first because there is no air conditioner, but in fact, it was not needed, as the hills of Florence have a lovely breeze and the apartment has cross ventilation as it looks out in two opposite directions. Also there were window screens, to keep out the mosquitoes, which can be a problem in Florence. The apartment was very clean, and very well thought out. Lots of cabinets, well-constructed bathrooms and kitchen, completely suitable for long-term stays. The location is about a half hour walk from the center, and we liked this fact, for both the peace and the exercise. On the night of the fireworks for the patron saint of Florence, there was a perfect vantage spot to watch within a 10 minute walk. I will definitely plan to stay here again if I have the opportunity to visit Florence for an extended period.
We had a wonderful stay here for a week in April 2015. We had four adults staying in the apartment and it was definitely enough space for all of us, we loved that there were 2 bathrooms and that each couple had their own bedroom. The one bedroom has a bit more room and storage plus a king size bed, the second bedroom is a bit smaller with 2 twin beds- but still enough space for us, especially for the week's stay.
The location was perfect, right by the delicious Restaurant Omero where we had dinner 2 nights during our stay and also took advantage of their small shop where we bought supplies for the apartment like eggs, prosciutto and coffee. The walk into the city of Florence was easy- took about 20 minutes to walk in depending on which route you took. And a cab ride was around 10-15 Euro, one way. The street is quiet and away from the city noise, but still close enough.
Silvia was an excellent host, upon our arrival she greeted us in person with a bottle of wine and lots of tips on the best ways to walk into the city and where to find the local markets in downtown Florence.
I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend!

The hill of Pian de Giullari is an ideal location for visiting the city of Florence. The slow climb of the stone paved road leads to this apartment, located in a tiny neighborhood at the top of the hill of one of the most famous sights in the world. Breathtaking views of the city and magnificent architectural style blends in perfectly with the rolling countryside scattered with cypresses and olive groves and gives us a true sense of the rural Tuscan landscape.
This sunny, quiet, newly renovated apartment opens over the villa that housed Galileo Galilei during the last days of his life. For those who likes to walk, lovely paths lead from home to the famous panoramic terrace of Piazzale Michelangelo, to the Basilica of San Miniato, considered a real architectural jewel, and to the old part of town (Porta Romana and Porta San Niccolo'). The city bus (#38) stops at the door. The well known, traditional trattoria "Omero" is located only few steps away and serves delicious meals, acts as local food store, offers take away, a coffe or a good glass of wine, just like in the old days!
