About silvia puliti
I was born in Florence. I currently travel quite a bit but spend most of the year in Missoula, MT. I'm a pharmacist and an international public health consultant with particular focus in HIV, TB and malaria. Whenever possible, I fly back home. I love to walk from the hill of Pian de Giullari down to Florence. I'm always amazed at the beauty of these places.
silvia puliti purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why silvia puliti chose Arcetri
My work takes me away from Florence.
What makes this Apartment unique
For years I have tried to find a property on the hill of Pian de Giullari. This is not an easy catch! Forever home of the Florentine aristocracy, owners keep their residences in this hill within the family, and very rarely properties here come to the market. The place has always represented to me the ideal location to live or visit Florence. The tiny neighborhood of Pian de Giullari, located on the south hill of Florence, retains its full charm and opens up over both beauties: the Tuscan countryside and the uniqueness of the city of Florence. Close enough to reach by walking the old part of town, yet so quiet and secluded. The city bus (#38) stops in the little square below the apartment. The traditional trattoria Omero serves delicious meals, and offers takeaway, sells food, coffee or a glass of wine, like in the old days. After so many years, I'm still amazed at the beauty, the views, the enchanting parks, villas, little churches, and overall the peace of this place.

beautiful apartment - quiet and private - just a quick walk to everything we needed
Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and the apartment provided everything we needed to settle in for a week long exploration of Florence. It was lovely to be away from the busier parts of town but still a quick and beautiful walk to all the major attractions. The trattoria down the street was a great neighbourhood place to enjoy a fabulous meal or a cappucino, order takeout, or get what we needed to cook at home. We were able to access the Tuscan hills with a quick bike ride or a great walk on a sunny day and so were able to explore the city as well as the countryside. It was exactly what we were looking for. Thanks so much for a beautiful stay!
Thank you very much, Janet!
We are very glad that you enjoyed our place as much as we do. We wish you a pleasant return home and we are looking for seeing you again

A lovely home in Florence
We had a wonderful time in Florence while staying in your home. We were able to catch the bus to get into the city just steps from our front door. It was just a 10-15min ride to the city. We did catch a taxi one evening and it was only 7 euros so very reasonable. The wonderful restaurant only a few doors down the road from our front door was a great treat we enjoyed a couple of times. We even got some meat, cheese and bread from the restaurant to enjoy back at the apartment.
The apartment itself was great. Giancarlo had some fresh fruit, cold water, crunchy snacks and a lovely bottle of wine as a housewarming gift. We enjoyed it all!!! But the refreshing breeze that we were able to enjoy being up from the city was lovely. To be able to open the windows, feel the breeze and hear the peaceful sounds floating around outside in the evening was a wonderful way to end a day of amazing sight seeing.
Thank you for letting us stay in your apartment. Silvia, we were sorry we didn't get to meet you. Giancarlo, you went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. Thank you for your hospitality. We hope to stay with you again in the future.

Fabulous Situation overlooking Florence
Very well set up with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The owner was very helpful and welcoming. The fly screens are great and you could enjoy the pleasant breezes which helped cool the very hot summer temperatures.
Beautiful and Peaceful home.
A truly wonderful experience from arrival to departure. Silvia and Gioncarlo were both incredibly nice and helpful. The apartment itself was very clean, modern and in a wonderful location just outside the city, but still accessible by bus or taxi.
Thank you very much Shawn, It has been a pleasure to have you staying at our place and we are looking for to seeing again.

Very clean, comfortable and well appointed apartment.
This is a very comfortable, well organised apartment that is ideal for people who want to do things in and out of Florence. Wonderful walking around the beautiful roads and laneways. Buses or a good walk can get you into Florence, easy to get a taxi back at night.
Very good for travellers with a car who want to explore the countryside as well as Florence. Preferably with a small car because the roads are very narrow at times. There is car parking in the piazza outside the apartment.
It is a very quiet area.
Apartment is small but very comfortable and well equiped. A perfect base.
Silvia and her husband were extremely helpful from first contact to the end.
I would highly recommend this apartment for travellers who want to be outside the city of Florence.
Peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable!
We loved Silvia and Gioncarlo' s apartment! They greeted us weary travelers with a bottle of wine and fresh strawberries and flowers, so thoughtful! The location is quiet and private but the bus stops right in front to take you to the city center. So interesting to think that Galileo lived next door at one time! It was really convenient to have the two bathrooms as we were two couples traveling together. Everything was very clean and decorated beautifully! There is a Michelin rated restaurant just a couple doors down with amazing views and food, and a short walk to piazza Michelangelo which we all throughly enjoyed at sunset! Overall the apartment was fantastic!
Thank you so much, Jimi Sue. We loved having you there and wish you all the best to your wonderful families

The hill of Pian de Giullari is an ideal location for visiting the city of Florence. The slow climb of the stone paved road leads to this apartment, located in a tiny neighborhood at the top of the hill of one of the most famous sights in the world. Breathtaking views of the city and magnificent architectural style blends in perfectly with the rolling countryside scattered with cypresses and olive groves and gives us a true sense of the rural Tuscan landscape. This sunny, quiet, newly renovated apartment opens over the villa that housed Galileo Galilei during the last days of his life. For those who likes to walk, lovely paths lead from home to the famous panoramic terrace of Piazzale Michelangelo, to the Basilica of San Miniato, considered a real architectural jewel, and to the old part of town (Porta Romana and Porta San Niccolo'). The city bus (#38) stops at the door. The well known, traditional trattoria "Omero" is located only few steps away and serves delicious meals, acts as local food store, offers take away, a coffe or a good glass of wine, just like in the old days!
