Duplex 2 storey home with terrace. Nestled in a picturesque private passage set amongst arts and craft workshops, this two storey (648sq ft) home is just a few steps from the heart of the Marais yet perfectly shielded from the busy area all around it. It features Phillip Starck furniture, vivid paintings, slate floor, glossy black tiles and stainless steel appliances. It also has one of the most fashionable addresses in Paris. The Marais is historic, charming and lively, with 17th century architecture, cobbled streets. The entrance to the house opens on to a large living area comfortably furnished with black leather sofa and decorated with modern and antique artwork. The dining section is furnished with stainless steel table and Perspex chairs and the modern and stylish open plan kitchen comes complete with dishwasher, washer, large fridge and induction electric burners - all in a stainless steel finish. Upstairs you reach the den home office open-space which overlooks the greenery of the private terrace. Equipped with a TV, stereo & WI-FI internet, the room is transformed into an additional sleeping area when the sofa bed is opened out. The main open plan bedroom is reached through an arched doorway separated by curtains from the den and has French windows leading out to the terrace. The bed is queen size (160cm). The "open spa room" has a walk-in round shower, entirely glazed in black tiles, and is powered by an oversized shower head as well as a ‘regular’ shower attachment. A splendid & ivy overlooks the private passage & has a garden table & chairs to dine & breakfast.
We stayed for 11 nights recently, and we can't say enough great things about this place. It was like living in a very beautiful museum and was so clean, well-appointed and decorated. You could feel the owner's love in all aspects of this apartment. It is a real duplex - with nice separation of space from the downstairs kitchen/living space (amazingly well stocked kitchen with everything you could possibly need) to the upstairs bedroom and sitting room. Off the bedroom, there is a wonderful outdoor space/terrace, which we used for drying clothes and hanging out in the evenings and mornings. There is a great bathroom and rain shower in the bath. The owner has a great property manager in Caesar - he is perfect in all respects and responds immediately to any questions or issues (we had no problems the entire time). Caesar showed us around and explained everything to us. The owner is really nice too, although we did not meet him in person.
The location is perfect for walking around or getting the Metro. It is very quiet - and is on an historic "Passage" - quite wonderful. No views of Paris from the apartment, but you get a great sense from the plants, terraces or others, etc. to feel like you are in a magnificent garden. Quite lovely. The neighborhood (Marais) has great food, bars, museums, and all of the best that Paris has to offer. We walked to the Seine many, many times, as well as Notre Dame and other places of interest. We would come back to this place in a heartbeat because of the overall feeling of it and the location.
There are only one minor thing to share - and this was not of concern to us. The stairs going to the higher floor are quite steep, made of metal, and could be slick if in stocking feet. With care, this was not really an issue for us. Would not be suitable perhaps for elderly or anyone with a disability.
"The apartment was even better than we had imagined it would be. From the extremely kind greeting of the owner to the modern, stylish, clean and comfortable interior and the quiet, secluded and central location to many amazing areas was exactly what we were looking for during our stay. Denis has created a fabulous and fitting space to live while in one of the most amazing cities in the world. We would not hesitate to rent this apartment when we visit Paris again and we would definitely recommend it to anyone we know who is traveling there. It added another level to our incredible honeymoon."
Our stay in Paris was simply amazing! The house was over the top clean, calm, fully equipped, very well decorated —the landlord sure has a great taste even in the little details. Last but not least, being situated in the very heart of Paris, this charming beautiful house made it easy for us to go back and forth while shopping or resting before going out at night. It is a blessing to have everything you need at hand and close! We will definitely come back!
