About Susan Brunner
Following years of studying, working and traveling in France, we are complete Francophiles hoping to retire to Burgundy in the future. Our daughters both love France too, and although still at school and university, spend as much time as possible working with us to ensure that the rentals at Rue Montmeix are everything you could want. Sometimes we will be there to welcome guests, but on the occasions we are not, we have a wonderful local manager to look after you. The most enjoyable thing is sharing recommendations of wine and food between our guests and recommending local attractions.
Susan Brunner purchased this House in 2011
Why Susan Brunner chose Meursault
After years of wanting to buy a second home in France, we had decided on the wine villages of Burgundy as our favorite location. We wanted to be in one of the prime villages of the area, with easy access to beautiful Beaune. Unable to find property to rent of the quality we required over the years, we were thrilled to find the house through a local firm of property designers and builders - although needing total renovation we fell in love with the charm and peace of numéro 6 immediately, totally won over by the stone, woodwork and fabulously peaceful views.
What makes this House unique
Rue Montmeix is truly our piece of paradise, which we love sharing! Uniquely positioned only 150 metres from the village square and all its amenities (2 bakers, great butcher, small supermarket, kitchen shop, Tabac, three or four restaurants and 50 vignerons!), the two houses that we rent out have been newly renovated from the beautiful stone winemaker's barn that our house (yet to be renovated!) is part of. The houses are calm and quiet, light and cool in summer, and warm and cosy in the winter, with some amazing stone walls and a beautiful oak frame, all carefully renovated by local master craftsmen. They face south, with a small vineyard in front, a newly reclaimed one being planted to the right, and views up to the vine-covered hills. The outside space is huge, especially for a wine village - each house has its own parking space, lots of privacy and its own outside bbq and eating area. In addition, the two rentals share a luxurious decked area, boule court area, and top of the range hot tub.

Home away from Home
Our time in Meursault was fabulous. Susie and Andy, who we now consider as friends, are wonderful hosts. We felt like we were home from the moment we arrived until we sadly had to leave. Their attention to detail in the house was stunning. We can not wait to return!
BEST VRBO we have ever stayed at!!!
I'm a bit hesitant to write this review as I don't want to let too many people know about how FABULOUS this place is. Truly, an absolute gem. Susan and Andy are the most gracious, lovely hosts that we have come across. Their rental is STUNNING, with every high end amenity you could think of. The town of Meursault and its people are amazing. This was the highlight of our 3 week European vacation. Truly, the best VRBO I have had the pleasure dealing with. We plan on coming back next year for a week. I give this place and its owners 5 stars. Superb. Perfection.
The renting process was easy, the home was exceptional!
Finding a perfect place in the heart of the French wine country
This is long. My apologies. I hope it is helpful.
What is presented on line just can’t fully capture how really wonderful this choice of a place to stay in the Grand Cru Wine Region of Burgundy is. We were expecting it to be really nice. It was instead just perfect. The location in Meursault was terrific. Small enough that we could get to bakery/butcher/grocer in a very short stroll but large enough to have a number and range of good choices for eating out. Vineyards and vintners everywhere. Consistent French Country architecture. Excellent wines at bargain values from really good village wines to the world renowned Grand Cru legends. Comfortable even for folks who did not speak the language. Just picture book architecture and countryside. Small towns and villages of similar character nearby to visit or bike to. Without any sense of being touristy. A time spent in a place where wine is the heart of the community and where community and traditions still matter and where people are sweet to visitors.
Our particular lodging was part good search and part spectacular luck. The hand hewn post and beam and stone historic structure seemed to clearly have been beautifully renovated for guests. It was better than we could have expected. Our two couples have had lifetimes of working with and on building projects of similar natures. We frankly tried to come up with a few helpful suggestions about little improvements that could be made. We came up dry. Beautiful. Superb craftsmanship. Spacious. Bright. Lovely baths off big bedrooms. A kitchen equipped exceptionally nicely. Lovely furnishings and china and stemware. Excellent beds. Lovely outdoor sitting and eating and grilling area with vineyards fore and aft. Pretty views. A real feeling of privacy. And then there are the proprietors. Wrong word—-your hosts. If you lived near them you would love to be their friends. Smart, and very sweetly and comfortably happy to do whatever they can to make your stay as nice as possible. We will miss them as much as the place. If spending time in the French countryside is your goal I really can’t imagine how you would find a better choice. We were so lucky to have had an opening when we were looking to come. Otherwise we would have missed this.
Perfect Burgundian experience
This is the perfect spot for a stay in Burgundy. Meursault is a quaint village with good restaurants and friendly people. However, the home made the stay spectacular. I wanted to stay much longer! The house is very large, with great views of vineyards (next door and the surrounding areas) and all the amenities. And Susan is an excellent hostess , who provided us with all sorts of goodies and made sure we were happy and comfortable. When I come back, this is where I’ll stay!! I stayed with my wife and son and my sos’s girlfriend and all of us loved this home.
Great Property, Cozy yet spacious. Well equipped kitchen,
Great amenities , 2 minute walk to town. Susan an excellent
and thoughtful host. Great location to explore region.
Meursault is one of the prime wine producing villages in the cote d'or and provides access to all of burgundy, being a short distance from the wonders of beaune. The village has over 50 vignerons, and wine tours can be arranged all over the region. A huge number of restaurants of every type can be found in the surrounding area.
