The property is a great get-away for a weekend or longer if you have the time. There is a charcoal grill for your burgers, steaks, or the fish you catch. The 3 bedrooms each have a queen size bed, with a twin and a double in 2 of them. There is a tub and shower in one of the baths and a claw-foot tub in the other. Linens and towels are furnished There is TV with DVD and VCR and several selections of movies - no satellite. The entertainment is purposely self-made. There are games and puzzles for a rainy day or just for fun. The fenced yard is a great place for a slip 'n slide or sprinkler fun. The lake is not good for swimming, but there is a city pool at Goldthwaite. There are some life vests for the paddle boating, but to ensure each person has the correct size you would want to bring your own. The fish feeder goes off each morning before 8:00 am. There are some wild ducks who like it as much as the fish. This is a semi-working farm in that we have a few goats and 1 donkey. It's a great place for family and friends. We have added wi fi for your convenience.

About Linda Barton
I am a widow, mother of two daughters and grand mother to five grand daughters and one grand son. They are all a joy and I enjoy spending time with them. I live in Medina, Texas where my hobbies are playing in a bluegrass gospel band, quilting and gardening.
Linda Barton purchased this Farmhouse in 1951
Why Linda Barton chose Mills County
My grand parents purchased this property in 1951 and the 50 acres we have was my Dad's part of the property. Between the years of 2005 and 2008 we added on to the house, cleaned out the lake and rebuilt the dam. My grand children are fifth generation to the property and they love it as much as their ancestors loved it.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
One of the things each generation has enjoyed about this place is the train. The railroad track is the property line on one side. When we were kids we would hear a train coming and run to get out in the open area near the track to wave at the conductor and get him to blow the whistle! You can't really see the track from this house now, but if we are out in the pasture my grandchildren will still run to wave and get the conductor to blow the whistle!

Absolutly the best weekend!!!!!!
This is a nice spacious country home, at ‘the end of the road’ a perfect getaway!. We were greeted at the front of the house by a friendly donkey and 8 goats. The house has lots of family sleeping and dining space. Large covered back porch/patio that was perfect for our morning coffee, wine at sunset, eating meals, and just hanging out or reading. Back porch overlooks a serene pond that is just 20 yards away. Fishing gear was available but we were just there for the down time. Wild ducks entertained us with their scurrying flights to land on the water. We did a little sightseeing…to old Regency Suspension Bridge, Mill Pond at San Saba, shopped in San Saba with a quick stop at the winery, purchased pecans in Goldthwaite for gifts to family. Had a great time..
Thank you for the great review! It has been a pleasure communicating with you. So glad ya'll enjoyed your trip and we look forward to your next visit. Thanks again.
unplug, unwind, and just relax
This is a great Cabin in the woods. It's a great place to take your kids and get them away from their electronics for a bit. We loved the paddle boat, fishing (yes we caught fish) and just hiking around the property. The porch is a really relaxing place to just sit and watch the ducks and other wildlife wonder past. If you are looking to just get away from it all, this is your place.
Escape the rat race called life for a bit.
If you are looking to get away from city life and enjoy peace, serenity and a breath of fresh air, this is the place. With everything furnished and all you have to bring is yourself and food, you will be able to relax and spend quality time unwinding. The fishing is successful. We caught lots of them from babies to big enough to eat! Nothing goes to waste either, we put leftovers out by the lake for the ducks, donkey and goats to pick up.
All of the nearby towns have festivals. There is deer and dove hunting in the area.
