'Coffee With Susan' a wonderful detached house in the hamlet of L'Homond, 5-miles from Sarlat - the beautiful 16th Century town in the heart of the Dordogne. The house has been nicely converted and was very comfortable and well equipped. Thanks for the baby equipment. The garden and pool were lovely.
We had a lovely stay at coffee with Susan. The house is perfect especially for 2 families staying together. Separate ensuite bathrooms means that each family has their privacy. We stayed with two teenagers, one 5 year old and one 2 year old. The house is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a holiday. The two outside tables mean that there is always somewhere shady to sit. The pool is a good size for just 8 people. The gite is brilliantly located near Sarlat and close enough to the main road to make going to the supermarket a quick visit. The boulangerie in Carlux is easy to get to in the mornings. Sue provided lots of detailed information on the local area, places to visit and recommended restaurants. Many thanks
This is our second stay in the Dordogne and yet again we were not disappointed. 'Coffee with Susan' is a lovingly converted barn with great amenities that made our stay enjoyable. The weather was fantastic too!
The location is quite remote but suited what we were looking for - a must though to go to the small boulangerie in Carlux for the bread and croissants, amazing!
Loved the region & accommodation was good. Very clean & well maintained. Good service & briefing notes from manager. Pool was essential & very good . Would recommend it. Good location & recommendations from manger on restaurants was excellent.
Needs a name on the house as GPS had us entering town from wrong direction & took some time to find it initially although it is only a small town.
The house is exactly as described with a good sized pool and a sensible deep end, much fun was had playing water polo or relaxing on the lilos!
The layout of the house is excellent with each bedroom having an ensuite bathroom which is a huge benefit when sharing with other families or you have older children who want their own privacy. The house was very clean and tidy and communication from the owner was excellent prior to the rental.
There is plenty to do in the area Sarlat is only a 15 min drive and even in the height of summer the roads are not too busy. We would recommend canoeing at Cap Evasion Saint Julien de Lampon just across the river bridge on the right
We also took a trip to the Velorail du Perigord which was about an 1hr and 20mins away which was great fun for the whole family pedalling the kart to the top of the railway and then racing back down
Lots of choice locally and in Sarlat for food - we had an excellent meal at St Julihan Restaurant which serves a good variety of food to suit most tastes
Cycling and walking is good either on road on the converted railways. If you are a keen cyclist the roads are good and there are plenty of hills to train on!
In summary thanks to Sue for a very enjoyable and relaxing family holiday
Excellent all round
There were 6 of us (4 adults, 2 teenagers) for one week. Being familiar with the Dordogne area, we knew we wanted to stay a bit off the beaten path, but still be near all the wonderful attractions the area has to offer. We also knew that we needed sufficient space for everybody to have some 'alone time', but also bring the family together. The house fit the bill perfectly! With a well-eqipped kitchen, separate bathrooms, a pool, table tennis, and a delightful patio we were able to cook, play games and relax after busy days sightseeing. Absolutely loved visiting Sarlat (repeatedly) as well as Carlux (great restaurant and bakery). The listing was accurate, the property clean and well-maintained and Sue provided fabulous customer service---I can recommend this property without hesitation.
The house is in the hamlet of L'Homond, near to the village of Prats De Carlux, 5-miles from Sarlat in the French Dordogne - the beautiful 16th Century Medieval town, in the heart of the Dordogne. The rental house is within 20-30 minutes drive or easy cycle-range of many of the Dordogne's most attractive spots and 5 minutes drive from the River Dordogne itself. L'Homond is in a network of small roads that are a joy to walk or cycle; there is a network of quiet country lanes connecting the many small hamlets and villages within a 10 mile radius of the house.
The immediate area around the house is a conservation area known as the Enea Valley. The Dordogne and the Vezere River valleys offer wonderful countryside. There are spectacular gorges channelling broad tranquil rivers that are clean and beautiful.
Other Activities close by : outdoor 'adventure ropes centre' in the trees, canoeing
