I was a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines 22 years and traveled all over the world. Maui is still my favorite vacation spot and winter home because it is clean, safe, and in the United States. Most people will not go back to Mexico and other 3rd world vacation spots after Hawaii!! The weather is 80-87 degrees ALL year and the water is clean and WARM! (75-83 degrees) You will feel the ALOHA spirit!!

Why Cindy chose Lahaina
The location of the Whaler is only 2 miles from Lahaina town. There are so many restaurants if you do not want to leave the resort area. I love the flowers, birds, ocean, blue sky and the tropical feeling of being on this wonderful island in paradise. This is a very romantic destination for a wedding or honeymoon!! What makes this Condo unique
The Whaler is right on the ocean and the back of the complex is on the Kaanapali golf course. It does not get any better than that. Right next door is Whalers village with shopping, bars and restaurants. The Sheraton is 2 properties door away with GREAT snorkeling at the famous Black Rock. Whale season is the end of November to the beginning of April and that is something special to view.

Wonderful Unit at the Whaler
We have stayed at the Whaler a number of times and in some cases we walked in to a very dated unit. Not so in this case! Well appointed and beautifully decorated, we were very impressed with everything. Cindy is a pleasure to work with and we will definitely be back!
A perfect place to relax
Cindy”s place is even better than the pictures show. High ceilings, spacious rooms, tasteful Hawaiian style decor and the ideal location on the property. The lanai area is private but allows a view towards the ocean and easy access to pool and grounds. Just steps from the front door is the trash/recycling and free laundry facilities. The grounds are beautiful including an amazing Koi pond and substantial gym facilities (2 rooms with multiple new cardio machines, complete free weights, and several multifunctional weight machines. WiFi is available throughout (gym, pool, etc). The community bbq area is very clean and located by the beach for a beautiful view. Whaler’s Village is literally steps away for easy shopping, restaurants and tours. Finally beach access is steps away from pool and grounds, easy to go back and forth and walk to snorkeling. Cindy was extremely helpful, calling halfway through our stay to see if we needed anything and what cleaning service (included) we would like. She also called towards the end to confirm that everything was satisfactory. She is very friendly and considerate of her renter’s needs. We are already planning our next trip and this will be our first choice.

Another nice stay, except....
My family and I stayed in Whaler 119 again for the second time (see original post May 2016). Again, we really enjoyed our visit and all the conveniences that a ground floor condo provides, as well as the close proximity to the Village next door. I have been visiting the Whaler for 17 years, my extended family for over 25 years. We can honestly say that the Whaler is the best.
As advertised, the condo has one king bed in the bedroom and one murphy bed in the living area. We have a tall teenager and a taller than average younger daughter. My extended family, 25-year+ oceanfront TI-owners, let us borrow their rollaway bed so that my daughter could sleep more comfortably rather than sleeping with her tall, bed-hogging teenage brother. This was the second time we did this, the first being in 2016 when we stayed in 119 the first time.
Our visit in 119 was very enjoyable and going smoothly without any hiccups. That is until I received a text and call from Cindy early morning on the second to last day of our stay (13 days total). I was informed that one of the her friends arrived at the Whaler the day prior (to her call) and "noticed" a rollaway bed near the sliding glass door to the patio. She asked why the rollaway was in the condo and how did it get in there. I told her that it was for my daughter to sleep on and it was moved in from our family's unit upstairs. She also asked how it fit, and I responded that it fit perfectly next to the murphy bed and sliding door.
At that point I was asked firmly by Cindy to remove the rollaway bed that day, the condo sleeps 4 people, but if one of my children would like to sleep in the rollaway in my family's condo they can do that. Of course I apologized and didn't realize that my moving a rollaway to the condo would be such a concern. I was told that the rollaway shouldn't be in there as it might "damage" things. Per Cindy's request, I returned it right away. I took responsibility and apologized.
One may wonder why this is such a big deal. In the big scheme of things it really isn't, my kids got along just fine. It didn't ruin our trip or really inconvence us (much). However, I do have a BIG concern about others spying on me and my family. I'd like to think my family and I are very respectful and honest. But to have this happen, a friend "peering" in on us is very disturbing and disappointing. If anything, all it really did was teach my children to be respectful of others privacy and not be a snitch.
We very much appreciate the kind review. That said, we are compelled to respond to the “peering” comment. Yes, Another FULL SHARE OWNER notified us that a rollaway bed was in the unit. (We did not know about the rollaway bed in 2016) Actually anyone entering Tower 1 would notice, as the bed was placed against the glass slider door facing outside. No one was specifically monitoring our condo.
We have gone to great expense ( unlike many other owners )to appoint our home to accommodate up to four guests. We advertise as such. Frankly it never occurred to us that we had to specifically request that guests not bring any additional furniture, surfboards etc. into our home. ( We also have a huge couch) The reason is it can chip or nick any cabinets, paint or other furniture. We have now Specifically put this in our letter we send out to guests.
I would also respectfully say that the comment about teaching kids not to be a snitch is in itself disrespectful and wholly irresponsible! All people should be taught to feel free to notify responsible party’s of any anomaly’s they feel appropriate. That is in fact what transpired in this case.
A Wonderful Time
The property is beautiful, the condo is very well-maintained and chock full of useful items. It was so convenient to have a fully equipped kitchen. Everything felt very spacious, there were two of us this trip, but there was room for four with the Murphy bed. We felt spoiled staying here, SO much better than a hotel room.
We loved being able to walk out the condo to feed the koi fish and grab a coffee from the lobby. It was perfect to be right on the beach and having Whaler Village next door was super convenient. You could grab something quick at the ABC store, go shopping for gifts or clothing, or sample the great restaurants. The beach boardwalk is beautiful to stroll/jog and Lahaina is a short drive away. We loved our first time in Maui very much, and hope to return soon!
