About joyce and rusty barker

We relocated to big bear lake california to ca. from ny in 2012 to be closer to our grandkids in san diego.

joyce and rusty barker purchased this cabin in 2006

Why joyce and rusty barker chose Big Bear

We made California Dreamin' our home because we can host our family & friends and it affords a calm and peaceful atmosphere for our retirement. the weather is ideal and the sky is like heaven.

What makes this cabin unique

The great room, the stars, the birds, the mountains and pine trees, and the small town feel where neighbors and merchants are friends. And the newly completed dog run so that your pet can safely enjoy the outdoors and not be cooped up in the cabin.

Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We went on a family vacation during the holidays. The cabin was very spacious , clean , well equipped and in a great location. We had a great time , everything that was listed was there. The owners were very good at answering questions and responding quickly to e mails and phone calls. The only problem were the stairs (16 steps) to get into the main cabin. With the snow it was difficult to load everything that we brought and very slippery to get in and out of the cabin. I think it should be mentioned since you can not see the stairs on the picture. Overall a good place to stay

Spacious and inviting

  • 5 of 5

We came to Big Bear for a family wedding and had members of five separate families staying in both houses on the property. The main house was big enough that we didn't feel like we were stepping all over each other all the time, and the deck and the hot tub were great gathering places. The hot water heater worked surprisingly well given that we had many people in and out of the shower getting ready for the wedding, and I never heard anyone complain of a cold shower! It was very warm the weekend we stayed here; the main house remained quite comfortable even in the middle of the day, but the smaller cabin got very warm--especially when people were in and out of the shower.

The property was very clean and nice, and the owners were very responsive any time I contacted them. Most anything you would want for a short stay is provided although we were surprised that we couldn't find an iron and ironing board. I suppose most guests aren't in the mountains for formal events!

The house is a very short drive to the village and the lake, and many other amenities that we didn't have time to explore. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

Excellent for families!

  • 5 of 5

We were pleasantly surprised at how large the property was and how well kept everything was. The extra side cabin suite was perfect for grandpa who could use space away from the kids. The kids loved the basement thought it was a mineshaft...pretty neat with the lighting. Unfortunately during our visit they cleaned out the spa so we didn't get to use it one night however we got a perfectly brand-new clean water spa the next night.

Large kitchen and room made things easy. We will likely try to stay here again.

Thanks!!

Amazing place to stay! The whole family had a great time!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great. The kitchen is large and had plenty of space for our big family and with plenty of pots and pans to make cooking for a large group much easier. The playground in front was great for the kids and there was still enough snow on the ground for a little sled run. 2 minutes from the tubing park made it easy to come back to the house for a break and refuel before hitting the slopes again. The owners are amazing and Joyce was kind enough to call and remind us of the "noise curfew" which is tough to adhere by when it is so easy to have fun and lose track of time at this place.

Large house and beautifully well kept.

  • 5 of 5

This property is perfect for a medium size group. There is plenty of sleeping space and the beds are very comfortable. It feels like home and is very clean and well maintained. The property owners are very helpful if you have any questions and you can tell they love this place as well. It is close to the village and minutes away from the two mountain resorts. I will definitely rent this house again if I can!!!
