This luxurious, lakefront, dream home is located on the west shore of Lake Almanor (includes a private boat dock and 2 buoys). The spacious 4000 square foot home is loaded with unique architectural features that include seven one-of-a-kind arched trusses that create the home’s large main gable, arched windows, custom wood carvings, trims, and moldings. Each room has a lake view and is beautifully decorated with a Mountain Lodge theme. The living room contains a wall of 20 windows that reach up to the 28 foot high wood ceilings, providing spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
The Master bedroom (downstairs)has a California King Select Comfort bed, a gas fireplace for ambiance, and French doors opening to the lakeside deck. The Master bath has a large jetted tub, double headed shower, double sinks, and a separate 'throne room.' The other downstairs bedroom has one Queen bed. Upstairs are three more bedrooms- a bedroom with one California King bed, a bedroom with a standard King size bed, and one bedroom with 2 Twin beds. All linens for beds and bathrooms are provided for your convenience. The Family Room has French doors opening to an upstairs balcony overlooking the Great room, and another set of French doors opening to an outside balcony deck.
The 1200 sq. ft. Guest House is separate from the Main House but under the same roof and connected by an intercom and a breezeway. It has a bedroom downstairs with a California King bed, 1 bath, and a loft with 3 twin beds, and 2 twin beds pushed together to make a king bed. It has a full kitchen complete with a dishwasher/microwave/refrigerator/stovetop/oven, its own washer/dryer, and a deck with a picnic table, bar-b-que and adirondack chairs for relaxing. THE GUEST HOUSE WILL NEVER BE RENTED TO ANOTHER GROUP, it is only used as additional space for the party renting the Main house.
Our Home Owner’s Association has a nine-hole golf course, four tennis courts, a basketball court, and a lakefront recreation area (with huge grass area, barbecues, sand beach, and children’s play equipment), all within walking distance of the house, and a boat launch ramp that is just down the road.
Excellent fly, spinning, and troll fishing in the lake and surrounding rivers and streams for trophy-sized rainbow trout and brown trout, as well as land-locked Chinook salmon, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass.

We moved to Lake Almanor in 1998 and planned to live there forever. In 1999 we bought our lot and began drawing our houseplans, keeping in mind our young children and our aging parents. In 2001 our home was completed and we moved from a home we'd been renting in the Country Club. It was an exciting time- 3 days before Christmas with 2+feet of snow on the ground!
While we lived there, we hosted pastors and missionaries in the guest house and were blessed to meet some wonderful people. But things happen, and life changes so in 2006 we found that another opportunity had arisen that took us away from our beloved home. We learned that we could continue our ministry through Hospitality Homes International and open our home to additional guests through VRBO. It has been a wonderful experience and allowed us to meet some beautiful families. We have been a (small) part of 50th and 60th Wedding Anniversary celebrations, family reunions that will be remembered for decades, and adult church/Bible study retreats.
What could be a better use for our home, a home that was built with love and dreams of touching the lives of others?

We first saw Lake Almanor when we were college students at Cal State University, Chico. Years later, we had the opportunity to move from the bay area and Lake Almanor seemed like the perfect place to rear our young children and host pastors and missionaries through Hospitality Homes International. We lived in Lake Almanor Country Club for a year and looked for property that would fit our desire to host pastors and missionaries in a guest house. Ultimately God led us to this lot, on a quiet cul-de-sac with the added serenity of Lake Almanor West. Lake Almanor West is a small-ish development and is about half the distance to Chester than most homes in the Country Club. And because we planned to live there year round it was an added benefit that the roads in Lake Almanor West are maintained by Plumas County and our drive to town is basically flat, so snow is not a problem. Because our home is on a cul-de-sac we don't have busy traffic racing by, and being on the west side of the lake we have less wind on our side of the lake than the Country Club eastern side of the lake. We have fewer homes so the general feel of Lake Almanor West is more laid back and quiet. We like that. LAW has a boat ramp, tennis courts, golf, a recreation area, a restaurant on the golf course, a paved bike/walking trail that starts on the south side of LAW and meanders to the dam.... it's simply Fantastic!
Having the Main House and attached Guest House gives us a flexibility in size and cost to host a variety of groups with different needs. Most of our groups are Family Reunions with multiple generations all seeking to gather for that rare opportunity to slow life down and catch up with one another. WE HAVE LIMITED HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY. We have found that we are a good fit for professional retreats, as well as Bible Study groups and Book Clubs. For those groups that have double occupancy in the bedrooms they find it much more comfortable to have a super-sized Cal-King bed or King bed than the smaller bed sizes offered by other vacation rental homes in the area.
For our family specifically, we enjoy playing in the snow, snowboarding up at Coppervale Ski hill (outside the town of Westwood on HWY 36), watching the snow fall while sitting next to the warm fire, swimming, on-shore or off shore/trolling/fly fishing, feeling the afternoon breeze off the lake while reading a good book, bar-b-quing, bicycling down the west shore bike path, tying flies at the card table while looking out at the lake, and more recently we purchased a couple of kayaks to take advantage of the calm waters. WE LOVE HAVING A DIFFERENT PACE AND ACTIVITIES- IT'S SO REFRESHING.

We couldn't imagine a better place to hold our company retreat. The house has everything that you could think of! There are plenty of rooms with comfortable beds, a good amount of bathrooms, a nice area for the group to relax, and a large table perfect to hold our planning sessions. The setting is so serene! Don't miss the opportunity to experience the stay at this house!
I thank God for leading me to this wonderful house and location. We have used it for the last 4 years for our family & friends annual get-together, and absolutely love it! It is perfect for us. Large and roomy enough that we can all be in that main area, some watching TV, some game playing at the large dining area table, me on my computer by the large windows looking out over the lake, and people in the kitchen, and yet it doesn't seem crowded.
The kitchen is wonderful. Very roomy and has everything you could possible need to prepare your meals. Plenty of room for all of us, beds very comfortable, and the master bedroom is fantastic! And that includes a huge walk-in closet (almost like a separate room) and a very roomy bathroom with a hot-tub and a huge shower.
We have a wonderful view of the lake, and there is something for everyone to do in the area. Golf course and tennis courts couple blocks away. And Chester just a short drive away with restaurants, a bowling alley, grocery stores, etc. And Mount Lassen not too far away either. Beautiful area for riding our motorcycles and bicycles and for hiking. And there is a boat launch area near the house where couple of my grand kids can launch their boats and then dock them at the dock in front of the house. And there is a very nice lakefront restaurant and bar and marina on the same side of the lake as the house.
Another thing that I want to say is that the owners are fantastic people! And we will be returning every year as long as it is available.
A group of 15 of us made Lake Almanor the destination for our 30+ annual Ladies Weekend. I wonder how we can top this one! The home is so well appointed and thoroughly stocked (except with toilet paper!). Plenty in the kitchen for us cooks. No need to bring your own large sauté pan; plenty of utensils, dishes, knives, pots and pans etc. The only thing I was glad I brought was a microplane (for lime zest) and citrus juice reamer. Although the dock was up for the season, we were able to rent a couple of party boats at the marina one day and a few canoes the next. Great swimming out in the lake, lots of outdoor furniture , badmitton, and a nice grill. The weather was fabulous too. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!
This house was perfect for our family vacation. The house has a very functional layout, great views of the lake, is architecturally pleasing, and was clean. The yard and large deck provide plenty of outdoor space for games and room for the kids to play. The owners were very responsive during the booking and even after we arrived. The VRBO description and pictures are accurate. We booked a short trip and wished we stayed longer to enjoy more water skiing, mountain biking, running the trails, hiking Lassen, etc. We are already looking forward to next year and will be coming back!
