Blue Heron Cottage. Palm trees and Jaccuzi on the beach. stocked wine cellar our compliments.
The Blue Heron cottage offers the best of both worlds. The front of the cottage sits on a sandy beach with Lake Ontario rolling in the waves. There is a hammock between two palm trees that has your name on it. The Jacuzzi sits right on the beach overlooking the water and the spectacular sunsets. There you can spot one of the many Bald Eagles fishing in the lake. Or maybe you want to watch the sailboat races right out front on the lake. Plenty of body surfing and swimming. The back of this wonderful cottage sits on Sodus Bay. The water is calm and great for swimming and fishing, water skiing and all kinds of water sports.
Enjoy some local cheese and crackers with a bottle of wine our compliments.
This cottage has a dock and comes with a 14ft aluminum boat with 4 stroke 10 hp outboard motor. (gas will be Aprox $15.00 for the week)
24 foot party pontoon boats are available for rent at Leroy Island Rentals as well. This is simply the best rental location on Sodus Bay.
This charming vacation retreat is located within minutes of eight waterfront restaurants and several marinas. It is also near historic Sodus Point, which features a sandy beach on Lake Ontario, two light houses, and maritime museum.
This cottage includes a master bedroom with Queen-size bed, second bedroom with full-size bed, third bedroom with two sets of twin bunkbeds.
Scott and Martha are retired and living the dream!
We spend our summers here on the same beach as our rentals. We love serving the needs of our guest. Our goal is to make your vacation the very best ever. We spend our winters in the Caribbean on the Island of St Thomas. There, we spend our time hosting to our friends and family who come to visit. There is always plenty of room and plenty to eat at our house!
Our St Thomas house is VRBO listing # 857551 if you are interested.
Scott grew up out here on Crescent Beach. Since 1960, Scott used to camp out here on the beach when there were no cottages at all. In 1989 Scott started developing the beach to share his paradise with others. There is no other place like this in NY. The sunsets are considered to be in the top ten in the world! There is no road access to the beach which is one of the best features! It's just a 5 minute boat ride from our marina. It is very private and beautiful! You will love it here!
Sit on the deck which is directly off your bedrooms and watch your children swim, kayak, paddle boat, canoe or just play on the beach which is ten feet from the deck. Enjoy a camp fire on the bay in your private fire pit. The kids will love our water slide that sets on the upper deck of our boat house next door. There is a ten foot drop into the deep waters of Sodus Bay!
It's was very relaxing and a beautiful surrounding will definitely go back
We decided that we wanted a weekend get-a-way, and within minutes we were booked!
Everything from booking, to the time Martha met us at the marina, went very smoothly.
We arrived on Friday afternoon, called Scott & he had Martha to us within MINUTES! She took us by pontoon to the cottage where there was wine and cheese (and a bubbling hot tub!) waiting for us- it was pure relaxation for the entire weekend.
Upon arrival Martha helped us get our things to the cottage, we grilled up some salmon (on the VERY clean grill), hopped in the hot tub and enjoyed the rest of our evening watching the sunset over Lake Ontario and drank some wine. (the hot tub is RIGHT on the water!!)
We realized that my husband forgot to pack the eggs and Martha graciously offered to go to the camp and get some for us.
The next day we watched the sun rise over the bay, took the motor boat to Sodus (to get some eggs), fished from the dock while drinking mimosas, took the paddle boat out for a spin, had a bon fire and then settled into the hot tub for another beautiful sunset!
The next morning while on the Lake Ontatrio beach, my husband made the comment that "wouldn't it be awesome to see a bald eagle fly over and grab a fish out of the lake"--literally 5 seconds later a bald eagle flew 20 ft over our heads out over the lake! God is good!
Although we chose to be completely isolated for relaxation, there are a few restaurants and pubs that you can get to by boat (during the light hours).
The cottage was very clean. We had everything that we needed: lots of towels, pots, pans, spices etc.
When we called to be picked up for our departure Martha told us that since no one else was renting the cottage for the next night she would let us stay one night for free--unfortunately we had to be back to work so we declined.
They were the most gracious hosts that we've ever dealt with! Good people!!!
We will DEFINITELY be back!!
My family needed to get away and what an amazing adventure we had. To see Sodus Bay in front of our cottage and Lake Ontario out the back door was truly magical. It was our first time maneuvering a boat, but Martha showed us how to operate it, and we were able to enjoy a picnic in the middle of Lake Ontario. The kayak was handy and my daughter enjoyed her solo ride. From collecting and painting rocks, to visits from bird friends, to soaking in the hot tub, what a relaxing yet fun weekend we had! Martha buried treasure for the girls to dig up in the sand before we left which was an unexpected surprise! Martha welcomed us and said good-bye to us like old friends. We would love to come back!
From day one the planning process was easy with Scott answering all of my questions very quickly about what to bring how to get there etc. Things didn't change once we arrived. The owners Scott and Martha and more than accommodating for any needs you might have or questions you may need answered. They helped us with their pontoon boat escorting guests to and from the marina a couple of times (less than a five minute ride).
The property is GORGEOUS. It really does feel like a tropical paradise when you step off the deck to the Lake side where the hammock and palm trees are. The lake was cool and refreshing on such a hot weekend. We kayaked, floated on rafts, fished etc. We loved watching the sun set by the light house from the hot tub. We brought our two large dogs and they absolutely loved swimming in the lake and playing on the beach. There are dogs all over, this is a dog lovers dream. On the front is the bay which is also very pretty. You have a lovely view of it from the living and dining room.
The cottage had everything we needed and wanted. We will certainly rent from them again! Maybe we will even try another one of their cottages. We had 7 people and there was plenty of room. I really don't have one negative thing to say except the amount of flies there were but that is no ones fault. Bring bug spray/citronella and you'll be fine! They really go out of their way to make their guests happy, and it works!
Never heard of sodus bay prior to our visit
We looked for a place to vacation with our 2 labs and 2 boys
Have to say . GREAT place!!! Water was clean for swimming very peaceful
House was clean and adequate . Great adventure for our dogs and 2 sons
Owners were great ! highly recommend sodus bay and a rental of one of there 5 rental homes . Martha made open there home for my boys and there friends on a rainy day and let them watch movies and cooked them grilled cheese sandwiches ;)
At this time of year we practically had the entire island to ourselves. Gorgeous sunsets, toasty fires on the beach. Fun in the kayaks - fishing from the pontoon boat. Lazy days to read & relax. Can't wait to go back again next year!!!
We own a seaplane and give free rides to view the Bald Eagles and the sites.
