|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Along the Wine Road on Pisa’s hills, amidst olive trees, vineyards, lines of cypresses and little woods, you will find A Casa di Lizzy, where the peace and quiet of Tuscan countryside is matched by the warmness of Tuscan hospitality. Brick tiles, wooden beams and cross vaults will cradle you at night and the smell of home-made cookies will wake you up in the morning.
During the day the countryside, the Romanesque little churches, the small quaint villages waiting to be discovered, the well-known cities of art and the seaside will disclose their treasures to your eyes, while in the evening the local feasts will offer you several occasions to relish the dishes of typical Tuscan cuisine.
It is in a typical Tuscan farmhouse built at the beginning of the 19th century and restored in 2003 preserving the original structure. It is surrounded by olive trees and vineyards.
The ground floor, with wide terracotta cross vaults and walls made with red bricks and stones, was once a stable, while now it houses a study, a living room, a kitchen, the large wooden table where we serve breakfast and a little cellar.
The first floor with beautiful wooden beams and terracotta floors used to house the farmer’s apartment, while now it houses the bedrooms, the bathrooms and our little private area. You can enter it through the inside staircase, made with wood and iron, or the outside one, which is typical of the Tuscan farmhouses.
Our three bedrooms – the yellow one, the green one and the blue one – each one with private bathroom, are on the first floor. The entrance to the bedrooms is independent, so our guests can come in and go out when they like.
They are furnished simply, but comfortably; they have old hand-decorated wardrobes, beautiful ceilings with wooden beams and terracotta tiles, electric kettle and cups and they overlook our garden and the surrounding hills.
They can be single, double or triple with king-size beds that can be converted into twins if required. It is possible to add another bed or a cradle for babies.
It is a part of our strength and it consists of fruit juices, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, home-made croissants and cakes, different kinds of home-baked bread, jams made with our organic fruit, tea, coffee or milk. If you follow a particular diet, please tell us when you book and we will try our best to satisfy you.
It is served on a large table under the cross vaults and it is the best moment to chat with us or with the other guests coming from all over the world, exchanging opinions about the best places to visit, the best restaurants, festivals and Tuscan traditions.
Our guests can buy their food and have lunch or dinner in the garden. We will give you dishes, glasses and cutlery.
I, Lizzy, teach English and French and I love talking with my guests ! I am very fond of art, history and Italian culture. Lorenzo, my husband, is a botanist: he takes care of our olives trees, vineyard and garden (he is also a tennis coach). We both love the countryside and the beautiful Tuscan landscape. That is why in 2002 we left our home town near Milan in the north of Italy to move to this wonderful spot of Tuscany. Come and see us: we enjoy the company of out guests very much !
Annalisa Sironi purchased this farmhouse in 2003
We arrived on a sunday afternoon in Fabbrica and were looking forward to these summer holidays very much. The payment procedure in advance was very easy, Annalisa sent us all necessary information for this.
The location of the house is fantastic - absolutely quiet but close to Fabbrica and Peccioli. We have to admit that from the very first moment we felt more like visiting good friends: after moving into our lovely bedroom Annalisa and Lorenzo showed us their house and garden, gave many, many information about where we could go, where to get the best food, offered their help in all issues like booking a table, checking out public transportation. At this first evening there was a nice little festivity in the village and we were invited to join Annalisa and Lorenzo. So we met local people and had a lot of fun.
We started the next day with a very nice breakfast containing fresh apricots from the own garden, freshly baked croissants and homemade bread, fresh coffee, yoghurt, homemade jam, muesli and a variety of juices.
During our stay Lorenzo gave us a tour through the garden and the wineyard, told us many interesting things about history, wine and oliveoil - we loved it!
Another day Annalisa showed us the treasure of the old church of Fabbrica: a tour which she offers since spring 2014. One would not guess to find statues and paintings from old masters - absolutely recommendable!
During our whole stay there was absolutely nothing to complain about: the room, which was roomy and lovely furnished, was always tidy and so was our own bathroom.
As already mentioned Annalisa and Lorenzo were always there to give support in any kind of issue. From our experience this exceeds very much the standard of service one can expect of a "normal" b'n'b.
To sumn up we did more than just enjoy our stay - the kindness, warm welcome and the lovely house of Annalisa and Lorenzo made the holiday unforgettable - we are going to miss all of it! At least we supplied ourselves with their homemade oliveoil and jam, so the holiday will continue a bit more. I will gladly recommend this bed and breakfast to everybody and we are already planning to come back next year!

In the Heart of Tuscany
A Casa di Lizzy is within short driving distance from San Gimignano and Volterra, centrally located at the point where the provinces of Pisa, Siena and Florence meet, in a piece of Tuscany that is not well-known: the Valdera.
It provides the stunning panorama of a most typical Tuscan landscape: sweet hills, vineyards, olive trees, roads lined with cypresses, and charming medieval hill top villages. It is not on a well trodden tourist route and this may be the reason why it still remains authentic and genuine and keeps producing the best harvests: excellent wines and rich, perfumed extra-virgin olive oil used in making the very special and unique dishes in the Italian cuisine.
The unique charm of the Valdera will always be the warm and welcoming Tuscan people, who will share the beauty and richness of a miraculously preserved countryside with anyone who chooses to join them.
