The Barn is a typical example of the architecture of farms in Lot-et-Garonne. It is made of stone and rubble stones and it has been entirely reformed in a modern style. The 4 spacious bedrooms, which provide an adjacent bathroom, can comfortably host 8 people. Two of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor and 2 of them are located on the first floor. The living room is spacious and it provides Carom billiards, a satellite television and free Wi-Fi Internet connection as well as a big dining table in the kitchen. The spacious fully equipped kitchen provides a fireplace and it is ideal for moments of conviviality. The swimming pool of 10m x 4.50m is private.

Guest house of Bouynot
The Barn is located on the 7 hectares of the estate of Château Bouynot, at the border of Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne departments. This farm of the 18th century has been entirely reformed using noble materials and decorated in a way that matches classic and modern styles. The Barn is located away from Château Bouynot in a property that is bordered by pine trees and provides its own garden as well as a private swimming pool of 10 m x 5 m. Our house is heated by geothermal energy. The barn is a 2-story house: the ground floor provides a fully equipped spacious kitchen, a dining room with a very big table for up to 12 people, a spacious living room of 60 m² with sofas, television, Carom billiards, 2 bedrooms with 2 beds of 120 x 190 cm, and a spacious bathroom that separates the two bedrooms. The first floor provides 2 bedrooms with private bathrooms and beds of 140 x 190 cm. The tobacco dryer is a traditional element of the landscape in Lot-et-Garonne. In the last century, each farm had this high wooden construction in which the tobacco leaves that were collected were put to dry.
The wooden framework of this « cathedral » has been preserved and 6 people can comfortably sleep in this magnificent spacious room. The 3 bedrooms, 2 of which are located on the first floor and another one is located on the ground floor, are modern in order to give a feeling of independent guest rooms with private toilets, a shower room, and twin beds that can be converted into a large bed of 180 cm. The ground floor provides an entrance hall, a fully equipped kitchen, a large and high-ceiling living room with a dining room, a living room with Louis-Philippe sofas and armchairs, a fireplace, satellite television, Hi-Fi stereo, and free Wi-Fi internet connection. The swimming pool of 10 m x 4.50 m is surrounded by a terrace made of pink bricks. These two houses are located on the estate of Bouynot and they offer a playground for children with a trampoline, a hut, and a swing.

Nice pool, petty rules, expensive
First impressions are good with a nice pool
Then why the 1 star?
1.Owners complaints about cleanliness when I have paid a rather substantial end of holiday cleaning fee are rather disingenuous. You want me to clean at the end then don't charge me.
2. Many light bulbs not working and too hard to change
3.Petty house rules (such as not cleaning their linen - please supply more table cloths and it won't be so dirty or let me wash it). People are on holiday they don't need a bible to try to adhere to!
4. Absolutely disgusting smell of sewerage from the downstairs double shower such that my children refused to use it.
5. Dust pan but no brush supplied!
6. Several of the doors were hard to lock/unlock as they are warped
7. Not enough bin space as shared with 2 houses - rubbish piled up outside
8. Dangerous broken metal puppets in the fort - very sharp for small children
So for the amount charged I would expect a home from home where I can relax and enjoy myself and did to a certain extent but rather sullied in the end.
We always pay a great attention to all the comments of our customers that allow us to improve the quality of our gîtes. However, we cannot prevent a guest from criticizing in return, especially if he has probably been irritated by our appreciation of the state of the house after his stay. If all these criticisms were justified we would have been delighted to be immediately informed in order to provide a solution. In the past, we never refused to assist our guests so that their stay may be as pleasant as possible, and so far, the comments of our guests show that our efforts are not in vain.
Beautifully renovated barn
We had a lovely stay at La Grange and can definitely recommend it. The house is situated in a corner of the Bouynot Estate near the Tobacco Dryer and has been beautifully renovated using natural stone inside and out. It has a very spacious, modern interior and a big lawned area alongside (at least the size of a football pitch) with large timbered play frame, trampoline and swings. Keep an eye out for our friend the automatic lawnmower chuntering around and doing a great job keeping this large area neatly cut.
Every room is large, generously furnished, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The walk-in showers were a delight to use. The kitchen is large and well equipped.
The pool and outside eating area at the rear is surrounded by a hedge with pine trees beyond. As per the law in France, the pool is alarmed.
This property was ideal for my 92 year old mum who slept in one of the downstairs bedrooms.
We were welcomed by the owners who live in the Chateau at the centre of the estate. They are available if and when needed - such as when our freezer stopped working and M. Forestier resolved the problem very effectively.
We spent most days relaxing at the property after collecting fresh bread for breakfast at the boulangerie at St Mailhan-sur-Garonne. The mini-market there seemed closed for the season but there is a Leclerc in Marmande with an excellent fishmonger (with fish restaurant) nearby. We also recommend the canoeing at Hure (call in advance) and the local Marmande tomatoes!
