About Kevin Wood
I built the cabin starting in 2007 based on plans I found on The original version of the cabin was designed for a couple in Maine. The Maine version has lots more windows, which after visiting my copy, you'll find hard to believe! I fell in love with Lost River after spending many weekends at friends' houses here. You'll love it too!
Kevin Wood purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Kevin Wood chose Baker
Great location close to everything (15 mins to yoga, Lost River General Store, LR Crafts Cooperative, a bit further to the State Park and Trout Pond). View from the cabin is trees, trees, trees and very little that is man-made. You feel like you're in a tree fort!
What makes this Cabin unique
A cabin that is modern! Clean lines, very bright, very open. Great kitchen, large deck and screened porch. There is no TV.
Check-in: 3:00 PM

We enjoyed our stay very much.
Beautiful location with incredible views.
Different season, another amazing stay!
This was our second time back at this beautiful house, but this time in fall. It still has its amazing rustic charm, while at the same time modern. It’s so quiet and far removed from the hectic pace of the city. We will definitely be back again!
Beautiful House, Beautiful View
We really enjoyed it. Very modern house and lots of books and games. Be sure to visit the Lost River Cafe, excellent food and service.
Beautiful house with open layout
The house is well-designed and my family had a wonderful time enjoying nature. The view for the sunrise is worth the stay.
Nice, private home in the woods
We had a lovely, quiet stay in the woods . 4-wheel drive recommendation for driveway is spot on. Small screened porch and large deck in addition to other small porches allow for nice outdoor space. Because it was the top of the mountain, we weren't bothered by a lot of bugs or anything.
Inside the house is clean, well supplied, comfortable. We found that we were glad to have gallons of drinking water with us as the sulpher smell from the well water was strong at first (it dissipated after a few hours or regular living).
We really enjoyed hiking with our dog in George Washington National Forrest and in Lost River State Park. This was a lovely place to come back to. And has an AhMazIng shower. best shower I have had in ages. Great design.
Note: views are best on the bedroom levels (there are balconies). House is treed on main level, so not breathtaking views. But that view from upstairs!!!!! wow.
Also, it is mentioned in other reviews- the bedrooms have open walls to living area, so if there had been another couple there, there would not have been much privacy.
Amazing views, beautiful house
Had an amazing weekend stay at Kevin's place. The house is situated on top of a 'mountain' with amazing views, especially morning sunrise. Be careful with any vehicles that have low ground clearance as the trip up to the house is bumpy with a couple steep ascents. My jeep had no issues. Loft concept house including both bedrooms so not a ton of privacy noise-wise. House was fully equipped with everything you need for cooking including some spices and coffee and more. Also plenty of games/puzzles/books to keep you busy and did I mention the view? The internet is a quite slow (as advertised) but good enough for checking email and surfing the web. It is actually a plus to disconnect for the weekend (no TV as well). We spent most of our time in Lost River which is an easy 20 minute drive. Kevin was super responsive leading up to the weekend and though out. Pup loved it as well as she dog bowls and multiple beds for her comfort. Would definitely stay again!
