About Monique Weening

We are a Dutch family of 5 (me, my husband and our 3 sons), who have lived in many countries, Italy being one of them. We have lived for 5 years in Rome and decided to buy our family holiday home in Umbria. After two years of extensive restoration works, we can finally call it our dream house and we take much pleasure in sharing its joy with others.

Monique Weening purchased this villa in 2002

Why Monique Weening chose Perugia area

This place has unforgettable views and sunsets and the valley breathes an incredible peace and tranquility. You have full privacy as there are no neighbours, yet you are centrally located and close to all necessary amenities and some great restaurants. This place is simply bliss!

What makes this villa unique

We've travelled a lot ourselves and found that many holiday properties in Italy and other countries are often dark and poorly furnished, have cheap fixtures and fittings and showers with little water pressure etc.

We wanted to create a light interior with new and high quality furniture and fittings. A place where you will feel at home and where care is taken of every aspect of your holiday.

Perfect place to rest on a European adventure

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful! We spent 10 days at Sento, and it was fantastic. The home is spacious and well appointed. Plenty of room for our large family of 9. The room that overlooks the valley is especially neat. It was a perfect place to retreat and relax during our two month European travels. The Wheelings were very pleasant to work with, even mailing our watch which we had left behind. Johanne was very accommodating, as we were late arriving to the house upon check in. The kitchen is well stocked and all the comforts of modern convenience is found at the house. We enjoyed the Italian countryside, especially the nearby hilltop town of Panicale. So much to visit within an hour's drive, even more if you are willing to drive two hours. Great customer service, highly recommend---would stay again. Thank you so much!

Heven in an Italian wine glass

  • 5 of 5

What can I say .We came here may/June this year for my wifes 40th birthday. We had the most amazing time, the house was as described and beautifully maintained. Johanne was very helpful and gave us valuable information about the surrounding area and local restaurants. A car is a nessessity being 20 minutes away from the local town and shops, but this made it perfect for us as it was quiet and there was no risk of us disturbing our neighbours!

The house, gardens and surrounding area of umbria is amazing and when we win the euro lotto I will be sure to make Monique an offer she can't refuse.

Perfect house for the perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

We were seven friends from Stockholm that got a relaxing and wonderful week. The house has good standard and has lots of space. The house and garden has several places for dining outside. Big pool to enjoy. We never wanted to leave this place and stayed there most of the days.

An amazing week in the hills of Umbria, Italy

  • 5 of 5

Our week at Casale Sento was a slice of heaven! The villa is magnificent, plenty spacious for our family of 8. The view is incredible, many places to hang out including the lovely private pool. It was close enough to get to little villages and markets, but we really loved just being there! Very clean and well maintained, and stocked with necessities, and nice amenities like CD's, cookbooks, dishwasher and washing machine. The grounds are gorgeous with all the flowers and grapevine on the patio. We hated to leave!

Incredible

  • 5 of 5

A cannot miss opportunity, the home is spectacular and the service is unbeatable. The villa is tucked in the hills so make sure that you are looking for isolation, but if it's what you want it is what you will get. Cannot say enough good things

Absolutely incredible!

  • 5 of 5

We were two families, including 3 children, and we had a wonderful week. It's even better than the pictures suggest. The garden is much more established now and the house itself is huge and decorated simply and stylishly. It's set up perfectly for 2 families because we each had a bathroom and the third bathroom is combined with the laundry. The beds were good, including nice linen and the shower excellent (2 things very important to me). There was ample crockery in the kitchen, lots of DVDs for the kids and great sun lounges by the pool. Everything was very well thought out. We also used the outdoor wood oven one night which was a novelty and it produced delicious roast chicken and vegetables! The views are amazing and when we arrived we didn't want to leave. I'd highly recommend this place. Be warned that it is about a 15 minute drive from the nearest town (Tavernelle) for supplies but it's so peaceful being away from it all that we loved the fact that it was so secluded. Thanks for a great stay.

Umbria is also known as the ‘green heart’ of Italy. The beautiful landscape is a mixture of gently sloping hills, forests, rivers and lakes. The region has all the charm of Tuscany, but is less crowded with tourists. Umbria is famous for its truffles, cheeses and wines. The Lake Trasimeno area is characterized by the ancient, picturesque towns around the shores of the popular lake, as well as by the attractive hill-top villages in its vicinity. Casale Sento is situated near one of these villages (5km) and can be reached by a good road of which the last 500m is gravel. Right outside the house you can make great walks, or take one of the mountain bikes and enjoy the stunning scenery. Alternatively, visit nearby wine estates or antique markets, wander through magnificent Assisi, or Perugia. Discover the hill towns around Lake Trasimeno, or go swimming in the lake. If you are adventurous, you can go rafting on the river Nera, or you can play golf at the Perugia Golf club.
