Our cottage, Babbling Brook, is set on just over half an acre of land and offers contemporary living accommodation in the heart of Kerry countryside. Accommodation is spread across one level and rooms are light and spacious. The cottage is equipped with all modern facilities and has wood and tiled floors throughout.
It features a large, open-style modern kitchen/diner with an opening into a sun-room with a small snooker table; patio doors lead from the sun-room onto a patio with garden table and chairs. There is a comfy lounge with three sofas, open fire, satellite TV, and Blu-ray DVD.
The two double bedrooms have en suite facilities, and the twin bedroom is adjacent to the family bathroom.
We are Danny & Ali. Our cottage, Babbling Brook, in beautiful Caragh Lake is very special to us; Danny’s family is from this region. We like to escape and spend as much time here with our family and friends as possible.
Nearest beaches: Babbling Brook is just 3.5 miles (less than 10 minutes' drive) to the unspoilt, Blue Flag Rossbeigh Beach and to Dooks - both sandy beaches.
Golf: 10 minutes' drive from the cottage is Dooks, a traditional links 18 hole golf course with beautiful views over looking the Atlantic. Other nearby golf courses include Killorglin (10 minutes' drive), Beaufort (15 minutes' drive), Killarney (25 minutes' drive) and Tralee (30 minutes' drive).
Fishing: Caragh Lake and Caragh River, containing salmon and trout, offer excellent fishing opportunities.
We loved your cottage, a fabulous location and so peaceful and quiet. A real home from home with everything you need at hand. We have really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back to this beautiful part of the world.
this holiday home really is home from home. It is large, spacious and a kitchen do die for with everything you could possibly need in it! It is ideal for families, large groups and couples with 3 bedrooms each with adequate storage space with en suites off 2 of the bedrooms and a separate bathroom too! So nobody will be queuing for a shower. The owners have left plenty of tourist info and guidance, and instructions for everything. There are even bikes to use in the shed. They were extremely accommodating with a query we had with the DVD player and very amiable. The location is superb as a base for exploring Kerry, just a few miles away from mountains and the spectacular coastal scenery. Just one tiny quibble and that is that you won't be able to walk to Lake Caragh although it is located next to it - nearly all the land on the banks is privately owned by other residences and hotels. But a short bike ride will take you round the other side. I would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone thinking of coming to Kerry.
Babbling Brook was a home away from home for us. Large, clean, and filled with all the amenities. Perfectly located for exploring the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula.
We arrived at Babbling Brook on Tuesday 3rd of May, myself, my 2 daughters (one a wheelchair user) and my 20 month old grand daughter.
As we drove along the Caragh Lake Road the views were spectacular, absolutely breathtaking! The Lake itself is stunning and surrounded by hills and mountains. The Lake can be seen from the front of Babbling Brook.
Once inside Babbling Brook we were absolutely delighted with the everything about it. In fact the photographs really don't do it justice. It was immaculate throughout and more spacious than we expected.
It has a large entrance hall which leads to all rooms. The lounge is both stylish and comfortable with large windows overlooking the front of the property. There is also an open fire if needed.
The kitchen is huge, with every possible item you could want from a large fridge/freezer, right down to plenty of tea towels. It has a large dining table big enough for a large family. There is a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, ironing board etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and welcoming and there are plenty of linen/towels for everyone.
The welcome pack is extremely detailed and informative and easy to use. Everything has been thought of and covered.
My daughter is a wheelchair user and had no difficulty getting around the property.
We visited the local towns of, Kilorglin, Killarney and Castleisland as we have Irish relatives and wanted to visit as many as possible. Everywhere is well sign posted and easy to find.
Overall our trip was amazing and we were sad to leave. We will definitely be returning to Babbling Brook.
Caragh Lake is a picturesque spot on the fringe of the Ring of Kerry, rural and serene, a perfect setting in which to relax and get away from it all. Caragh Lake itself, approx 5 miles long, is set back on the opposite side of the road to Babbling Brook and can be accessed by a nearby path. Fishing and boating equipment for use on the lake is available to hire close by. Opposite Babbling Brook is Carrig Country House which boasts one of the finest restaurants in Kerry, overlooking the lake.
The area is excellent for walking, cycling, bird-watching, sightseeing and other activities such as fishing, golfing, horse-riding and water sports. The Cappanalea Outdoor Education Centre, which offers a range of adventure sports activities, is just 15 minutes’ drive.
Babbling Brook is also ideally located for exploring the magnificent sights and places of interest this beautiful county offers including the Ring of Kerry, the rugged Gap of Dunloe, the Dingle and Beara peninsulas and local scenic spots situated off the tourist track, such as the Ballaghbeama Gap. The cottage is just a few minutes' drive from two beautiful sandy beaches and several golf courses (see below). There are shops, banks, other award-winning restaurants and traditional, welcoming pubs in Killorglin - home to the Puck Fair festival - and also Glenbeigh village, both less than 4 miles away.
Killarney, a larger bustling town full of character and more shops, restaurants and pubs, is a very pleasant 30 minutes’ drive and a ‘must-see’ part of Kerry. It is home to the beautiful Muckross National Park with its fabulous views of the Macgillycuddy reeks. For those who like a flutter, Killarney’s racecourse hosts several horse racing events over the spring and summer and is set in the most magnificent backdrop of mountain and lake scenery.
Golf: There is a fabulous selection of local golf courses, including nearby Dooks Golf Club (a links course in a stunning location overlooking the sea), Beaufort Golf Club and Killorglin Golf Club. All are just 5 - 10 minutes' drive from Babbling Brook. There are other golf courses located slightly further afield, including Killarney and Tralee (both approx 30 minutes' drive).
