About JACKIE WALLACE-JONES
Richard and I moved from the Oxford area of the UK to the beautiful Gers region of France. We bought this pretty 17thC presbytery and converted the barn in to 2 gites which we have rented since 2005. Our experience in the wine trade and hotel/restaurant business has stood us in good stead to run a successful business and a happy place for people to holiday. We are thrilled to welcome back many returning guests.
JACKIE WALLACE-JONES purchased this Cottage in 2004

The house of happiness
We knew this place till few years, we spend here one or two weeks with Friends, and it's always the same pleasure. Find back Jackie and Richard, our lovely owners, their home, the quiet of the Church, swimming in the sweet water seeing an amazing blue sky, watching the stars in the sky at night in the garden in front of the house. Meet others renters who are often English people, speaking their language. We love this place, definitly. It's for us, our holiday's home.

Beautiful holidays in an amazing peacefull and green garden.
nice place, owner friendly
very nice property in a very quiet place. Owners are very friendly. Everything was perfect for relaxing vacation.
Little extra for Nordic walkers: a very nice signposted circuit of 12 km around the village !

This is rural France at its best! The Gers, where people live longer, is endowed with clear unpolluted skies, little traffic, friendly people, a temperate climate and a variety of fresh country produce found in the daily village markets. The area is renowned for its duck, foie gras and Armagnac and during the summer there are many festivals such as Jazz at Marciac, Country and Western at Mirande, Tempo Latino at Vic-Fezensac, bullfighting and horse racing.
There is always something to see and do in the area from visiting medieval bastide villages (this is D'Artagnan country), beautiful landscapes, wine and Armagnac tasting, collecting antiques, riding, walking and cycling to just lazing by the pool on a hot summer's afternoon with a glass of fresh local wine!
Le Vieux Presbytère is a 2 hour drive from Biarritz and the wonderful long, sandy beaches of the Atlantic. The Pyrenees are also 2 hours drive and have good, challenging skiing in the winter and wonderful alpine summer walks
Other Activities: Boules: every village has a court and team. Motor Racing: Nogaro is 15mins drive and has regular meetings for F3, The Porsche Cup, Classic Cars and Truck racing. Next to the race track is a gliding centre. Bull Fighting: Is still practiced in SW France and the season kicks off in Vic Fezensac with 4 days of bull fighting, in various forms, on the Pentecost weekend. Dance late in to the night at the 4 day fun-filled Latin American salsa festival in late July. Also hosted by Vic Fezensac, a 15 min drive, bands come from Cuba, South America, Paris etc. Marciac (40 mins) hosts a fabulous Jazz Festival in the 1st 2 weeks of August. Established 30 years ago with some well known jazz artists it's a must to soak up the atmosphere, even for those who are not jazz officinados. Of course all festivals and village fetes come with good eating and drinking. Harvesting of the grapes in September and the Flame d'Armagnac in November is quite a spectacle. The Tour de France and its grand entourage often passes nearby.
Golf: Golf de Guinlet near Eauze is only 15 minutes drive from the gites This is a good, fairly challenging, pretty wooded 18 hole course. Other courses within a 45 minute drive are Auch, Chateau Parlane and Mont de Marsan.
Ski: Skiing in the Pyrenees is perfectly possible for a day. The drive is about 2 hours and gets you to La Mongee which is one of the highest peaks in the Pyrenees. February and March are the best skiing months.
