Honokaa House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-5)

Aloha and Welcome to the Valley of the Kings.

This is the location where Water World was filmed featuring Kevin Costner. Kevin wanted to purchased the property but good thing we did not sell it to him!

The Waipi'o Valley is as beautiful a place as you will ever visit!

With unimaginably steep walls on the sides, waterfalls etching the perimeter, fields of taro and luscious mile long black sand beach, Waipi'o never fails to impress.

Walk to town and visit our gift shop or take a ATV Tour or a guided tour of the Valley.

We are featured in the famous Big Island Revealed guide book as a great place to stay.

Do you want a true Hawaiian experience and the privacy of your own Villa on a cliff.? Our CliffHouse, 2-Story Private Oceanfront Vacation Home is the place for you!

Take a deep breathe and immerse yourself in what the Cliffhouse has to offer!

WE WANT TO SPOIL YOU!

IDYLLIC PLACE!

  • 5 of 5

This place is awesome, truly awe-some. If it's a unique Hawaiian experience with a fabulous view you're looking for, this is the place. Great place to relax. Richard, your host, is very gracious and provides you with both the essentials for the house and also some wonderful extras. It's not a "luxurious" experience--it's an authentic one. You'll think you're lost just before you arrive--but the view is unmistakable. I do believe it's the most beautiful view we've had anywhere. And my kids (and my husband and myself!) LOVED the cows! They were hysterical...would come running--faster than my dog!--to get some food. Great memory :). Hope to return--and next time, we'll stay for a month.

Mahalo nui loa.

Better than Advertised

  • 5 of 5

I know it might not seem possible but the Cliff House is actually BETTER than the pictures show. It is even better than the reviews can write. You can't capture this experience in a review! I am winding down a 20 day trip on the big Island. I’m writing this review from a resort in Kona. The Cliff House has no rival. It has no match. For your dollar the Cliff House could easily be the best place on the planet to stay.

The views are beyond breathtaking. We thought they were astounding and then a few days in to our trip the distant haze cleared up and we could see the towering mountain of Maui. I thought I was in a movie and someone had just repainted the back drop.

Richard (the owner and host) is everything you could ever want in a host. He is gracious, helpful, kind, and he asks questions about how he can make the Cliff House better. He goes above and beyond yet manages to do so without interfering. He is there but not there. He has been doing this so long he has fixed everything there is to fix. He has provided everything there is to provide. My 2 year-old daughter fed the cows, my mother caught some rays and my wife sang songs to our baby from the kitchen as she viewed 180 degrees of Majesty.

I could write on and on and on about this property. Part of me doesn't want to tell you guys about it because it may make my future booking more difficult. This place is at the edge of the world. You have the entire jungle to yourself. Cell phones don't work but Richard has provided a landline and wifi. DON'T TURN THE TV ON --- enjoy the trip -- enjoy eachother --- put your facebook down. Enjoy the freedom away from the chains of your normal life.

Come to the cliff house.

Incredible setting, great views

  • 5 of 5

The Cliffhouse provides an incredible view like none other that we have experienced, the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean is literally within a few feet of the lanai. Being 800' above the water adds to visual impact. We found the Cliffhouse to be well stocked with provisions, especially the kitchen; you will want for nothing except the food that you need to bring with you (Foodland in Parker Ranch is recommended). It is incredibly private and very quiet at this location located on a 2-acre plot directly above the ocean. We have rented a number of vacation homes in the past so have benchmarks to compare against and the Cliffhouse will be the first rental that we have ever desired to return to. Simply a wonderful experience.

The Cliff House

  • 5 of 5

What can I say about this place that hasn't been said before? As someone who is traveled all over the world, Cliff House is such a special place. The vista from the deck, the constantly changing tapestry of color, the sounds of the night. I told Richard, the wonderfully gracious owner, that if he would just put in a Thai restaurant downstairs in the carport and build a stairway to the beach below, I'd never leave the property. In spite of our good intentions to drive into Waimea for dinner, in two visits we've never been able to pull ourselves away from the lanai in the evening. This is the place for one seeking tranquility and a Hawaii vastly different than the usual experience. Like someone said, leave the gold clubs behind. Five thumbs up!!

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

A house with a best view! We loved the view and privacy that we didn't want to leave this home to explore the island. This home has pretty much everything you need for a relaxing time-off. We hiked down to Waipio valley and walking back home was fun. It was amazing to know that we lived for 12 days on top of Waipio valley cliff!! The owner Richard is very kind and prompt in communication. Because its private, you're further away from other attractions. So it requires at least 1 hour to 3:30 hours to go anywhere else in the island. Because of the distance, we skipped some of the attractions. So, I will not call this location as central in the island, but I'll say it will be the private home with best view and lots of privacy, well it comes with a price :) We loved feeding to the calves the owner had in the property. It was so lovely! In terms of kitchen, its well stocked with most of the basic spices and left-over items from previous guests. It does not have a dishwasher, if it may be a concern for anyone. The only negative comment, I could think was the geckos. But, its expected in the tropical though. Overall, we had best time in our first ever trip in Big Island. We will be back soon!

BREATHTAKING!

  • 5 of 5

Don't read this if you're coming to use your new golf clubs, or plan to be seen with the elite at a five star resort. BUT, if you want to stay awhile in one of the world's most beautiful and private locations, don't miss the opportunity to come here. After you pass through electric gates and travel down the private lane, you'll pass grassy fields with several cows and a couple of horses belonging to the owner who lives in the only other home sequestered on this large property. You'll park your car in the garage containing a washer and dryer for your use and ascend a staircase that opens on a large deck with gorgeous views of the coast. We took all our meals on this deck and found it hard to leave. Entering the nicely decorated home you will find a number of surprises awaiting you; beautiful tropical flowers, tropical, fruit chocolate candy, Kona coffee beans, etc. The owner, Richard, is one of the most pleasant persons I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I could go on and on, but the two fingers I type with are growing tired. Give youself a real Hawaiian treat and come to this fantastic property. Robert Small
