About alvarina suarez
We are from South Florida, and always wanted to enjoy the changes in seasons,My parents built this house in 1992, and my kids grew enjoying hiking, fishing and many a paint ball games were played at big family vacations along the river bank. This cottage is full of wonderful family gatherings and memories.
Why alvarina suarez chose Hohenwald
they had a second home in the Smokies prior, but wanted a very secluded setting and land space, They loved the Tennessee scenery and started looking until they found this wonderful town, that offered seclusion feel when wanted and beautiful quaint town with small shops, restaurants and wonderful friendly neighbours. Through the years this wonderful spot of Tennessee has become a very special place we hold dear, and we come to enjoy the peace and quiet and most certainly to add to our memory making of our family. I have lived in South Florida most of my life, but this wonderful place is home also, and as of yet I haven't had a moment where as I leave I'm already looking forward to my return.
What makes this Cottage unique
I especially love the tree house feeling we get out on the deck, and the quietness of not hearing or even seeing an airplane, the whole area from the moment we turn on to the winding road and most often encounter deer grazing at side of road add to that beautiful clearings and wooded terrain. in the evenings the spectacular velvety dark sky showing a three dimensional show of sparkling stars is a sight to behold!, the fact we are secluded, yet close enough to metropolitan Franklin and Nashville make it perfect to make a day of outing to shopping and nightlife. although the majority of our time we do come is to enjoy the local sightseeings and our wonderful deck!

Great place to stay
We really enjoyed our stay in you cottage. Everything was well keep and clean. Would think about staying there in the future.
So happy you enjoyed our wonderful cottage! Would love to have you stay again.
Quiet and relaxing
We were visiting Hohenwald to do a tour of the Oliver Travel Trailer plant. The house had everything we needed for our short stay enjoyable. The porch was lovely and the owner was responsive. Would stay there again.
Exactly What We Needed!
We wanted a close place to go just to get away with friends. Alva’s Cottage was perfect. We spent our whole weekend on the back porch which is super secluded from neighbors and the road. I would recommend that the porch be pressure washed and treated, because a couple of us slipped on the deck after the rain.
We really enjoyed the fact that our cell phones did not have reception but did have internet.
Everything we needed was provided and easy to find! We will definitely be returning to this little cottage.
I’m so glad you enjoyed our cottage! We will definitely look into your suggestion of deck, Hope to have you back soon.
The owner of the cottage is aware that her home becomes infested with ladybugs but does not include it in her add because she is “unaware when they show up, as fast as the come they leave.” One or two ladybugs is ok but there were hundreds of them! The house was incredibly dirty. There were dead bugs all over the carpet on the staircase. When we were a few hours out I called Alva and she advised that SHE was at the home cleaning it because she like for her people to be happy with her cottage so she likes to have it very clean. She advised where SHE would be leaving us the key. When I called to complain about the bugs she said she was in Miami and her cleaning lady was the one who cleaned. The following day when I spoke with her she then changed things up and said she was in Orlando and advised she would send the cleaning lady if I wanted. At this point she was becoming upset with me because I was calling her house dirty. Not only is the house dirty it is also in need of repair. You can’t see it in the pictures but there is broken flooring all over the house. If someone is walking around on the second floor the lights on the first floor flicker. When you turn on the heater the lights flicker. She claims she was there in December and none of this was happening except for the ladybugs she admitted the house was infested. Thankfully VRBO/Homeaway got involved and we were able to get HALF our money back and they put us up in a beautiful hotel. If you don’t want to deal with bugs steer clear of this place.
Our stay was over Thanksgiving Holiday. it is a quaint little place with all the necessities. Enjoyed sitting out on the deck sipping our coffee and watching the wildlife scurry around in the mornings. its a short walk to the river, i wish i had brought my fishing pole. over all its a lovely little cottage and would definitely stay here again. thanks for everything Mrs Alva.
Modest house in good location near the Natchez Trace
I'm glad we tried it out. It is at the dead-end of a rural road. Very peaceful. Close to Meriwether Lewis State Park which was good for hiking. The house is concrete block and two stories. Nothing fancy. Not spotless, but safe though. Visit Yoder's off Hwy 20. Thank you.
Fishing, horseback riding, canoeing, cycling, scenic and historical parkway road.
