In a nutshell.

Little Sea Sparkle is a deceptively large 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Mumbles, occupying the ground floor of a grand Victorian house, overlooking the sea and is just perfect for couples wishing to relax and take time away together. It has a lovely tiered garden with wide stretching views over the bay and to the valleys beyond and a charming walled courtyard where you can relax and dine alfresco.

Sitting in a slightly elevated position, a mere 300 yard hop skip and a jump and you're strolling the promenade. To the left lies the city of Swansea, to the right continues the glorious Gower peninsular coastline.

The apartment.

As you enter, it immediately envelopes you in a great, big, warm Welsh cwtch (cuddle) and we are privileged to own this lovely, light filled apartment in the very heart of the quirky, bustling Mumbles village.

Its a perfect retreat, summer or winter, for couples wanting to get away and relax. Its a cosy, romantic hideaway with privacy, space, comfort and many little extra luxuries. The apartment was lovingly renovated and brought back to life in 2015/16, with quality being of great importance, everything has been finished to a very high standard and luxury fixtures and fittings added. Little Sea Sparkle lends itself nicely to being an adults only space, therefore a lot of thought and much attention to detail has gone into the renovation.

You can choose from one of the two prettily decorated bedrooms, each with a king size bed and plenty of wardrobe and draw space. The bedroom to the rear of the property has an en suite with a powerful walk in shower and has its own access to the garden. It is decorated in a fresh, nautical theme, capturing the coastal feel of the area. Crisp white bed linen and towels are provided, along with toweling robes for use during your stay and complimentary slippers and toiletries. The second bedroom, equally attractive, decorated in restful pale blues, looks out to the pretty courtyard. The stylish bathroom has a contemporary bath with chrome feet and a powerful over bath shower with an abundance of hot water.

The kitchen, overlooking the courtyard, is the heart of the apartment and the morning light streams in through the charming shutter covered window. It is modern and up to date with all new appliances, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave etc. However the kitchen reflects the period of the property and retains some of the Victorian elements, such as high ceilings and deep window recesses. A lovely kitchen to cook in if you decide to dine in and take advantage of the wonderful Gower produce on sale in season, visit the local fishmonger or if you are sampling some of the goodies you have found if you have visited the farmers market (second Saturday of every month).

The hallway leads to bedroom two and the lovely high celinged, light filled, lounge. The floor to ceiling windows look to the front of the property over the sweeping bay, towards Swansea Marina and the sometimes snow capped mountains in the distance. The decor is pale and has a restful feel and the furniture very comfortable. When wandering through the shops in Mumbles you may see decorative slate signs which say 'the English cuddle, but the Welsh cwtch'. Well, here is the place, to kick off your shoes, enjoy your glass of wine and cwtch on the comfy sofas. Read, listen to music, take time to talk or watch a good film, with the lights of the bay twinkling in the distance.

When you arrive at Little sea Sparkle, you enter the graveled courtyard. To the left, takes you to the tiered garden. From this elevated position you have a good view of the bay and the near five mile sweep of the prom to the city of Swansea. The courtyard and garden has sheltered seating and dining areas to relax and enjoy in. The garden has been planted with a selection of coastal grasses and colorful seasonal plants.

All in all, I would describe Little Sea Sparkle as a mix of traditional, with a touch of modern, eclectic seaside. Its a Victorian home, melding with 21st century modern facilities, with a strong focus on romantic, cosy, comfort. Whether you choose to abandon the car, kick off your shoes and relax. Or put on your walking boots and walk the cliffs of the incredible Gower coastline, Little Sea Sparkle is your perfect retreat summer or winter.

Wonderful flat - home from home

We really enjoyed our stay here - the flat was fantastic and beyond our expectations, decorated to a very high standard and very spacious. We had a warm Welsh welcome from Katherine - including Welsh cakes when we arrived - and she was on hand via phone for any questions we had. The flat is in a great location - just minutes from the cafes and restaurants along the sea road of Mumbles but very quiet nevertheless. Although the weather in early February was too cold to enjoy the small courtyard outside the front door, it would be a real suntrap in the summer. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely beautiful apartment in a perfect location

We were delighted when we opened the door to this beautiful apartment on a rainy January night. It is at once homely, clean, welcoming and extremely well-equipped. There was also a lovely welcome pack of goodies, slippers and bathrobes - loads of really lovely touches which make the difference with holiday rentals. It is also in a perfect location for exploring Mumbles and the surrounding beaches - you can walk from the door along the coastal path or if you fancy going a bit further, it is easy to drive from there too. The apartment has its own garage behind, which is great as the roads are small and there is not much parking otherwise. The garden looked like it would be gorgeous but of course in January, we didn't really get much use out of it! There are loads of good pubs (The Park Inn around the corner is just so lovely) and restaurants nearby, as well as a couple of supermarkets and local shops, so you don't really need the car. The owners are extremely helpful and have provided a wealth of information in the apartment to help orientate visitors who are new to the area. We definitely hope to return to Little Sea Sparkle next year!

It was in a wonderful location, well-appointed and very comfortable.

We enjoyed it so much that we didn't go out for dinner, preferring to stay "at home"

Perfect homely apartment in a great location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautiful apartment. It was so cosy but also light and bright (despite the occasional rain). The welcome basket was much appreciated and a lovely touch. It is also very handy that you left basic supplies (salt, pepper, oil, vinegar etc...) as it does seem wasteful to have to buy these basic things each time you stay in a rental property. The location was perfect for us and having a garage was great as not many smaller properties have them around this area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon.

Perfect, highly recommend.

Just spent a long weekend at Little Sea Sparkle, from the start communication with Katherine was excellent. The apartment was immaculately presented with everything you could need so clean and stylish. Perfect location for Mumbles shops and restaurants.

It will be very hard to better this apartment, our only regret is we didn't stay longer.

Car: recommended

Although a car is not necessary, as there are very good bus links to Mumbles, we do however, recommend it. You can take advantage while you are in the area, of exploring the Gower peninsular coastline and discover some of the beauty South and West Wales has on offer.

Parking.

Parking is like gold dust in this lovely little fishing village and we are very fortunate to be able to offer parking to our guests.

Out and about.

You can, if you choose, park up for the whole of your stay, there is plenty to see and do in and around Mumbles. Maybe pack up a picnic and a bottle of wine and take a stroll to the beach on a lazy summer day - Hire bikes and cycle along the promenade to Swansea and the marina - Catch a rugby match with the Ospreys at the Liberty stadium - Or maybe walk the cliffs to Langland and Caswell bays, stop for a long lunch and watch the surfers ride the waves. Possibly a visit to the pier and new lifeboat station - Explore Oystermouth castle - Enjoy a peaceful afternoon fishing, the list goes on and on.

Mumbles.

Wander the narrow, higgledy piggledy streets of Mumbles, lined with prettily painted fisherman's cottages, to the chic, yet cosy amenities of the village. There is a great selection of cafe bars, wine bars and local watering holes (real ale, micro breweries) in the village to visit, too many to mention. Restaurants, some included in the Michelin guide, its a foodies paradise, with a range that accommodates all budgets. On offer you will find local "fresh off the boat" fish and excellent quality locally grown produce, not to mention the renowned ice cream at Joes Ice cream parlour. As with the restaurants, you will find chic, independent boutiques, handmade crafts and quirky galleries to wander through and while away your afternoons.

Mumbles is often referred to as the gateway to Gower and is on the outskirts of the city of Swansea. The Gower coast is renowned for its beautiful beaches and has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.

If you choose to drive.

We are blessed with too many to mention breathtaking beaches, but some you might like to visit are Langland bay with its colourful beach huts, the dramatic Three cliffs, Oxwich bay and of course Rhossili beach, which has deservedly so, been named the best beach in the UK and the ninth most amazing beach in the world (Daily Mail/travel - Rhosilli). There is a sharp contrast to the beaches of the North to the South Gower coast, but it is well worth taking the time to explore both.

Swansea.

Known as the'City by the sea'. In contrast to rural Gower, Swansea, as you would expect to find in any city, has good shopping with all the major retailers, an award winning indoor market, which is the largest in Wales, selling cockles and lavabread, fresh produce and a variety of good, some locally crafted.

Swansea has plenty of good eating places, art galleries, museums, cinemas and leisure centers. There is also the lovely maritime quarter at Swansea marina, where you can admire the beautiful boats moored there and find a great selection of bars and restaurants to visit.

Exciting times are ahead for Swansea with the proposed new tidal lagoon and plans being unveiled for the new waterfront regeneration. Being the third largest university in Wales, Swansea University, opened its doors to the much talked about state of the art engineering department in 2015. So all in all, very positive times ahead for this, already lovely city.

If you choose to see more of this wonderful part of Wales, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire lie to the west and the vibrant city of Cardiff to the east, while the rugged beauty of the Brecon Beacons await you in Mid Wales.
