About CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager

A resident of Georgia since 1980, we built this facility in 2005 to expand my horse business and develop a nature preserve. The cabin was originally put on the master plan and constructed to house equestrian guests visiting the ranch to attend a clinic or a riding vacation. For a better return on the investment, I opened the cabin to non-equestrian visitors.

CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2006

Why CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager chose Georgia

I performed volunteer work on a trail system partially located in Banks County for the US Forest Service and could not help but notice how scenic the area was. The rural atmosphere, coupled with a very low crime rate, no traffic issues, yet close to shopping and other necessities made it an appealing choice for personal and business reasons.

What makes this cabin unique

The many noisy shoals and scenic beauty of the river/creek was one of the most appealing features of the property. Once the center of the property was cleared for pasture and construction of the equestrian center, it revealed a beautiful 180 degree ridge view with stunning sunsets. Being able to enjoy the mountainous terrain, the appearance of being in the middle of nowhere, and yet only 10 minutes away 'modern civilization' via three four-lane highways is a huge plus.

Everything was amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect! It was very cozy and clean. We went fishing and had a chance to go horseback riding as well. Everything is all on the same land, so we didn't really have to leave the cabin. I would definitely go back!

Beautiful, secluded, and a quiet peaceful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

I would recommend this cabin to everyone. The only negative is that the internet is very weak.

Owner's Response: Yes, the cabin is very quiet, private and secluded. Unfortunately, being in a low spot on the river and surrounded by mountainous terrain may be very scenic and secluded, but makes for a weak wifi signal. That is why there is a warning about that on the cabin listing along with the recommendation that you bring your own hot spot. Although it is inconvenient, in case of emergencies you can drive up the hill a couple of hundred feet and get a strong wifi signal. The quality of your cell provider and cell phone may also affect signal quality. Most guests believe it's worth it!

Wonderful Quiet and Solitude

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at the Grove River Ranch cabin was wonderfully quiet and restful. Nestled above a stream from which you can hear the water running over the rocks and across from a pond and equestrian ranch, the atmosphere was very conducive to relaxation, rest and some great trail walks. We came out of the cabin on a clear evening and were shocked at how many stars we could see, just awesome. We also enjoyed our time spent in the very large outdoor jacuzzi which was already on, up to set temperature and ready for instant aaahhhness!

The cabin itself has some needed changes, such as more lighting, a new propane tank for the gas fireplace, and a few minor home fixes such as a broken stove light. The beds were extremely comfortable and we slept like babies, and the showers were warm with plenty of hot water. We enjoyed both snuggling up on the couch and sofa and watching some movies on the dish TV and listening to music.

If you are interested in eating out and/or shopping, the ranch is only about 20 minutes from Gainesville and 25 minutes from the outlet malls in Commerce. The cute little town of Lula is only 6 miles from the cabin, and here you will find, among other things, a grocery, a pharmacy, and two restaurants.

Overall, I sure hope that my wife and I can visit the Grove River Ranch and stay at the cabin again in the near future!

Owner's Response: It's always nice to hear how our guests enjoy the many unique features of the cabin and it's location. Those of us who live at the ranch have gotten used to seeing a clear view of millions of stars and enjoying the sounds of the river shoals, something city people notice right away and do not take for granted! Although we make every effort to keep the cabin in excellent working condition, new maintenance issues do pop up while being occupied. We appreciate guests reporting any problems so we can get them corrected in a timely manner. The propane tank has been refilled and the stove light has been replaced. We always look forward to returning guests!

The Cabin at Grove River Ranch was GREAT!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Overall we had a GREAT time at the cabin. We enjoyed getting to see the horses on our way in and out of the cabin, fish at the pond, and see the stream running from the balcony of the bedrooms. The cabin is very well maintained and very clean. With everything that was offered we couldn't have asked for more!!! CJ is an AWESOME Owner/Manager, she was very helpful in everything that we asked and needed. If you are looking for a nice little getaway to just relax this is the PERFECT cabin!!! You can get to Atlanta in about an hour and a half, there is also a few other places we enjoyed: the town of Helen, Anna Ruby Falls and Brasstown Bald Mountain, which are pretty close as well!! I would LOVE to visit here again!!!! :)

Owner's Response: This couple was able to enjoy the best of both worlds - the serene privacy of the cabin, and some of the many nearby attractions. There is so much more to see and do in this area that I look forward to having them back!

Great!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed our weekend at the cabins. Wish we would have planned for a longer stay but still enjoyed our mini vacation... I caught the most fish! Go me! Thanks again CJ for allowing us to visit!

Owner's Response: Fishing is just one of the amenities at the cabin, and it always delights me to hear about guests who catch a lot of fish! My "keep what you catch" policy is very popular, especially among those who want fresh grilled fish for dinner!
