About CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager

A resident of Georgia since 1980, we built this facility in 2005 to expand my horse business and develop a nature preserve. The cabin was originally put on the master plan and constructed to house equestrian guests visiting the ranch to attend a clinic or a riding vacation. For a better return on the investment, I opened the cabin to non-equestrian visitors.

CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2006

Why CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager chose Georgia

I performed volunteer work on a trail system partially located in Banks County for the US Forest Service and could not help but notice how scenic the area was. The rural atmosphere, coupled with a very low crime rate, no traffic issues, yet close to shopping and other necessities made it an appealing choice for personal and business reasons.

What makes this cabin unique

The many noisy shoals and scenic beauty of the river/creek was one of the most appealing features of the property. Once the center of the property was cleared for pasture and construction of the equestrian center, it revealed a beautiful 180 degree ridge view with stunning sunsets. Being able to enjoy the mountainous terrain, the appearance of being in the middle of nowhere, and yet only 10 minutes away 'modern civilization' via three four-lane highways is a huge plus.

The Cabin at Grove River Ranch was GREAT!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Overall we had a GREAT time at the cabin. We enjoyed getting to see the horses on our way in and out of the cabin, fish at the pond, and see the stream running from the balcony of the bedrooms. The cabin is very well maintained and very clean. With everything that was offered we couldn't have asked for more!!! CJ is an AWESOME Owner/Manager, she was very helpful in everything that we asked and needed. If you are looking for a nice little getaway to just relax this is the PERFECT cabin!!! You can get to Atlanta in about an hour and a half, there is also a few other places we enjoyed: the town of Helen, Anna Ruby Falls and Brasstown Bald Mountain, which are pretty close as well!! I would LOVE to visit here again!!!! :)

Owner's Response: This couple was able to enjoy the best of both worlds - the serene privacy of the cabin, and some of the many nearby attractions. There is so much more to see and do in this area that I look forward to having them back!

My family and I really enjoyed our weekend at the cabins. Wish we would have planned for a longer stay but still enjoyed our mini vacation... I caught the most fish! Go me! Thanks again CJ for allowing us to visit!

Owner's Response: Fishing is just one of the amenities at the cabin, and it always delights me to hear about guests who catch a lot of fish! My "keep what you catch" policy is very popular, especially among those who want fresh grilled fish for dinner!

A great place to get away from it all and relax.

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend. We really enjoyed the seclusion and privacy this location provided. We grilled out every meal and had a bonfire every night. During the day we would hike the private trails along the creek and sit down by the creek and read for hours. The creek is right down the hill behind the cabin and you can walk right into it and sit on the rocks it flows around if you like. It was a very peaceful long weekend without being glued to our phones or thinking about work. CJ is very accommodating we were able to get a few things we needed very quickly with a simple text.

Loved it here!!!

We had a great time at the cabin. Even in the winter, this is a perfect get away! The hot tub was very romantic, and private. The stars were so bright at night. We enjoyed the trails, the grill, and the fire pit too. Everything was perfect, and CJ was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Peaceful & Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Grove River Ranch very much! CJ is a wonderful host and had everything ready as we arrived. Hot tub was great and although we only caught one fish we had a great time! Weather was not cooperating with the fishing. Got to do the horse riding lessons as well which was a nice treat. Great place to get away from it all!
