About CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager

A resident of Georgia since 1980, we built this facility in 2005 to expand my horse business and develop a nature preserve. The cabin was originally put on the master plan and constructed to house equestrian guests visiting the ranch to attend a clinic or a riding vacation. For a better return on the investment, I opened the cabin to non-equestrian visitors.

CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2006

Why CJ Farmer, Owner/Manager chose Gillsville

I performed volunteer work on a trail system partially located in Banks County for the US Forest Service and could not help but notice how scenic the area was. The rural atmosphere, coupled with a very low crime rate, no traffic issues, yet close to shopping and other necessities made it an appealing choice for personal and business reasons.

What makes this cabin unique

The many noisy shoals and scenic beauty of the river/creek was one of the most appealing features of the property. Once the center of the property was cleared for pasture and construction of the equestrian center, it revealed a beautiful 180 degree ridge view with stunning sunsets. Being able to enjoy the mountainous terrain, the appearance of being in the middle of nowhere, and yet only 10 minutes away 'modern civilization' via three four-lane highways is a huge plus.

Great weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Perfect last minute getaway retreat for my husband and I to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Cabin was clean, and had all the amenities needed. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, hot tub was very relaxing, and the horse/hiking trails were beautiful along the river. Such a neat little piece of paradise not too far from home. Will definitely stay here again in the future. CJ was great to work with!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words Melanie! You don't have to drive too far from the city to find privacy, peace and quiet. With three kids at home, it's good to be in close range just in case of an emergency! I will look forward to your return visit.

A lovely getaway from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two days over New Years and had a great time. The cabin is well appointed and had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the hot tub especially, given how cold it was. CJ was very responsive and when we couldn’t find a lighter for the fireplace she brought us a new one very quickly.

Owner's Response: There is nothing like a steaming hot tub and a cozy fireplace to ring in the New Year! I didn't order the big falling snowflakes on New Year's morning, but it certainly did add even more beauty to the already scenic setting. So glad this young couple was able to get out of the city to enjoy a little private quiet time in the country, hope they will return in 2018!

Christmas in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

The 2 bedroom 2 bath cabin is back in the woods off a graved road. It was very quiet and the only cabin there. The owner was personable and easy to reach. Horses were on the property with a pond and running creek. We really enjoyed our Christmas in the little mountain cabin.

Beautiful, clean, quiet, peaceful

  • 5 of 5

CJ your place is so pretty and it was just what we needed. I have no idea how you arranged that snow for our weekend but it was perfect! Snow falling and sitting in on the hot tub was not disappointing! We loved it. We will be back and will tell folks about your hide away. Thanks for having everything we needed for a perfect weekend. Amazing and relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful location nestled within an equestrian estate. Cabin was wonderfully comfortable and it's accommodations perfect for our family of 4. We took advantage of the pond for fishing, and the hot tub in the cold evenings. Amazing views from the property, horses abound, and nature everywhere! One of the best experiences our family has had in years! CJ is extremely accommodating, and allowed us a great venue to unwind and relax. Absolutely going to stay here again next time we are planning a Georgia vacation!

Owner's Response: It makes my day to read how much a family has enjoyed my facilities! The cabin's surroundings make it truly a unique experience. I thank God every day for the beauty and serenity He has provided for me here, and it is a pleasure to share it with others. I will look forward to the Curnow family's return visit any time they get back to the South!

Fabulous weekend family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We took our 6 year old child for a weekend getaway and had a wonderful time. The grounds are just beautiful and well maintained. We enjoyed seeing the horses in the stables and during times they were out with their riders. We built a fire pit and made s'mores in the evening and took advantage of the fishing pond. We only wished we had another night because our daughter didn't want to leave! We enjoyed the local pottery places and took a little piece of GA home with us...perfect little getaway

Owner's Response: The biggest compliment of all is when guests don't want to leave! I hope they will plan another visit, and the 6 year old will probably be big enough for a riding lesson. The compliments about the facilities are greatly appreciated.
