About PJ Lahn
We reside in Erie, CO and enjoy spending time at 'The Little Cabin that did'. We call it that because even though it sits just steps from the St. Vrain river, it survived the Colorado flood of 2013 that devastated much of the area, with not a scratch. Please browse through 'A Thousand Year Rain' a book that depicts the severe damage (and great courage) of the events of the flood when you visit the cabin. We offer the cabin to travelers as it was meant to be shared and enjoyed by many.
PJ Lahn purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why PJ Lahn chose Lyons
Spending time next to the river is so calming and the town and surround area have so much history both in the properties in the area and the local towns and attractions. You can sit and enjoy the river and mountain views and read and relax during your stay or you can go explore the area, be it in the bustling town of Estes, or hiking near Brainard Lake, or biking the mountain roads.
What makes this Cabin unique
'The Little Cabin that did' is unique for its large riverfront access along with its rustic log construction. It has all the amenities of home and a beautiful old fashioned stove nestled in the kitchen. The screened in porch calls for you to sit and drink your morning coffee from the porch swing. You are secluded, but can go adventure close by.

Very Disappointing - Would not recommend!
We called the owner the morning after our 11:00 pm check in asking to get a refund because of issues with the property. She said she would only refund one night. However, we did not get the refund after her agreement to do so! This was my letter back to her.
I was surprised to hear of your decision not to refund the day’s lodging fee. Per our discussion it was my clear understanding that you were willing to issue the refund based on our dissatisfaction with the lodging. There was no discussion of the requirement for us to leave immediately to receive the refund. The refund was based on the fact that after trying to sleep in the master suite I broke out in a rash and then when I moved to the couch to try and sleep there was a definite smell of dog/cat dander/urine. This caused me to basically get no sleep for the night.
I did not mention this to you, but we also encountered crickets and spiders inside the cabin. In addition to the overall musty smell there was also a layer of dust inside that prompted respiratory issues. The outside deck had holes in the screen and the table was covered with used candles and wax. It was a definite disappointment given the fact we flew in for a special family gathering and were expecting simple but clean and comfortable environment and instead had to endure discomfort and frustration and expense at having to find different accommodations
For the price per night we surely did not get our money’s worth. Consequently, I am asking that you refund the promised amount, - The owner responded with denials of the problem and refused the refund.
Cynthia decided to stay even after I offered to issue a refund for the first night. Once she made that decision, she forfeited any right to a refund. I am sorry Cynthia, you did not enjoy your stay, but MANY others have come to our cabin and loved it and it's amenities (as is evident from the reviews). Not everyone is suited for a cabin in the Rocky Mountains. I know the cabin is always left clean, as I do that myself. I am sorry you felt otherwise. Hope you find what you are looking for in your next VRBO stay.

Feels like our home away from home!
We love this place! So peaceful!!! You can lay your head down and listen to the rush of the river. Instant rest!
Peaceful cabin on river
This is a great little cabin tucked out of the way on river - very peaceful, quiet and comfortable. River is soothing background noise. In between Lyons and Estes so short drive to get to town. Owner was very responsive and provided helpful info for stay.
Great place!
Loved the constant sound of the flowing river right off the back porch....especially at night. Should have brought a fly fishing rod. Very comfortable beds. Always slept great. Nice fire-pit and horse shoe pits. Kitchen is very well stocked. Nice grill but didn’t use it. Loved morning coffee on the back porch. Enjoyed hiking Ceran St Vrain trail just south of this place. Did short drives to Estes Park and RMNP a couple of days. Excellent place to vacation.
Fabulous River Porch
There is a lot of wonderful things to love about this property . The porch with the river is fantastic. The location gave us some Great places within 20 minutes to go hike and we actually loved the town of Lyons . Great food, a great distillery. Loved that it was dog friendly . Like another reviewer I did think it would be a little more remote as far as neighbors and thought we would be able to walk along the river and explore but you have to go other places to do that. Not sure I could’ve actually found a place more remote w the river at your doorstep, so all in all , If we had it to do over again we would definitely stay there again..
Charming Cabin on River
Charming, Clean met all the needs for the four of us. The sound of the river was amazing. It was a great launching point to see all that Rocky Mountain National Park had to offer.
PJ was great communicator thru the entire process.
