About Kitty Hall-Thurnheer
I love to be pampered so it gives me great joy to create beautiful, comfortable spaces with little surprises of wonderment. Prior to owning a guest house, I was a software guru, a jet pilot, and a journalist. Now I focus on keeping a balance between work and play. If there is anything you need or want, please let me know so I can make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Why Kitty Hall-Thurnheer chose Elmira
The Castle was built in 1927 with superior craftsmanship including lots of natural wood and solid wood doors with heavy iron hinges. The house is furnished with antiques and the best and most comfortable beds. You may never want to leave.
What makes this House unique
It's a castle! In case you're attending an event at the Elmira Country Club, the Castle is backed up to it, so you can simply walk home.

whst an awesome 50th Birthday weekend

Castle for a Family Stay
We really enjoyed the medieval decor and the well stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Elmira is a great location for a number of area attractions and the Castle is in a quiet neighborhood. Lovely!
Kitty’s and John’s Castle is the finest property we have visited - and we have visited quite a few. Aside from being unique in design and layout, everything was though of. The kitchen is more than fully equipped with a wide variety of utensils, spices, oils and condiments.
The castle is located close to town in a very quiet neighborhood. Easy access to finger lake waterfalls, wineries and creameries and, of course, the Corning glass museum, a must see. You might also decide not to leave the castle as the hosts have prepared plenty of things to keep you entertained. If southwest New York is in your plans, stay here.
SO MUCH FUN!
We stayed for 4 nights with our two sons and daughters in law. It was wonderful! Very clean, comfortable, had everything we needed, wonderfully decorated and closets full of fun costumes. The property was beautiful and we never left. I would go back in a heart beat. Kitty is a great host.
Was a fantastic place to stay!
Great place to stay for Elmira parents weekend. Will certainly stay at The Castle again when in the Elmira area.
The Castle on Glen is located on a quiet residential street. There is so much to do in the surrounding areas. The wineries are only 45 minutes away and now include breweries and distilleries. Grappa anyone? If you enjoy antiques, you must visit Antique Revival. Restaurants: Charlies Cafe is only about two miles away and serves a great atmosphere and simple American food for lunch and dinner; closed Mondays. Taninos is worth the 15-20 min drive for brick-oven pizza and great Italian cuisine. Aviation your thing? Be sure to take a drive up to Harris Hill to watch and maybe take a ride in a glider. This is Mark Twain country and Elmira College has his writing studio which is available for tours. There are brochures and directions in the house.
