Sales at Turning Leaf Vacation Rentals
About Sales at Turning Leaf Vacation Rentals
In the mid-1990s Bob and Susan Fleming acquired two dilapidated log cottages along fayette springs road in chalk hill, pa. As director of a major area tourist attraction, susan fleming recognized the value of these properties both historically and economically but it was challenging to get anyone to agree to restore rather than demolish the houses, which were built in the 1930’s as hunting camps and abandoned to the elements for years. With the help of some resourceful contractors, the couple was able to transform the cottages into the luxuriously rustic retreats you see today. The first cottage to welcome tourists opened in 1997 and the second in 2005. The flemings treasure their little piece of history and have enjoyed hosting visitors from all over the world for nearly 20 years. Automobiles and airplanes have replaced the boats and trains, a world-class spa has replaced the fayette springs, but the experiences of iconic architecture, pristine wilderness, exceptional white water, and unrivaled trails continue to draw tourists to our region.
Sales at Turning Leaf Vacation Rentals purchased this Cottage in 1995
Why Sales at Turning Leaf Vacation Rentals chose Farmington
The property on which the cottages are located is the site of the original Fayette Springs, a popular resort and spa to which tourists flocked in the mid 1800’s. According to advertisements in the “genius of liberty,” a local newspaper from that period, people came from all over the east by train to ohiopyle or boat to brownsville, then by horse and buggy to partake of the health benefits of the water in the stream that runs behind the cabins. The water was guaranteed to cure all sorts of ailments. All that remains of the original spa are photos and some artifacts; a hand-carved stone basin, stone columns, a large stone slab with graffiti depicting names and dates from the period, and a fresh-water well that is dug into the mountainside.
What makes this Cottage unique
The Springs House provides its guest a luxuriously quiet experience while still being close to all the activity centers associated with the ohiopyle area.

Mini Honeymoon Stay
We absolutely LOVED this property! My husband and I came up for a few days for our post-wedding weekend getaway and we cannot be happier with our stay! It is conveniently located about 10 minutes from Nemacolin, and only a 25 minute drive to Ohiopyle/Falling Water. The house itself is extremely charming--the bed is super comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the working fireplace perfectly tied everything together during the cold fall nights we experienced. We couldn't recommend this place highly enough and we ABSOLUTELY will be returning in the future! Thank you for such a great stay!
Ah, thank you, Paige! We loved hosting your post-wedding getaway! You were fabulous guests. Yes, the fireplace makes this tiny cabin all the more charming on a cold night! Come back again real soon.
Great location, cozy cabin
There is so much great about this property - excellent location, the perfect back deck, cozy furnishings. The only thing I'd change is the shower/tub in the bathroom - it's an old claw-foot tub that has a shower added to it, and frankly, it's a bit treacherous getting in and out and could easily pose difficulties for those whose dexterity or sure-footedness is lacking. Would I stay again? Yes. There's so much going for the place! But be careful in the bathroom ...
Thank for staying with us; providing this detailed review and your feedback. I can see what you mean with respect to the antique claw foot tub. The owner is considering installing grab bars to assist; but, the actual elevation of the tub side might still make it an issue for those with "dexterity challenges". Hope to have you back! We enjoyed having you.
We love coming here, we go year after year to celebrate our anniversary.
Thank you for staying with us! We enjoy having you back year after year and are grateful for your return guest stays! :)
Beautiful cabin in the woods
This was our second time staying here, and we loved it as much as the first time. The cabin is very comfortable for 2 people with lovely outdoor seating. It's just 15 minutes or so from Ohiopyle, so it's easy to spend the morning hiking and then return to relax outside overlooking the little brook in the back all evening. This is our favorite little get-away in this area!
Thanks for coming back! We really enjoyed your visit. We could not agree more this little cabin is a great place to enjoy all the activity of the area--then come back to sit on the back deck listening to the little brook. We hope to have you back again real soon!
We stayed at this property in June 2019 for our 15 year anniversary. We wanted to visit Falling Water and Kentuck Knob and found this to be a great location for both. The winery and distillery are within walking distance and the winery was dog-friendly. We loved their sparkling wine selections and found them to be perfect for enjoying the deck and the sounds of the babbling stream that flows behind the house. The house was easy to find and comfortable for my husband and I and our dog.
So, glad you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for your review. The winery and distillery being walking distance is a real plus! The spring fed mountain stream (when it is running) makes for peaceful enjoyment on the back deck.
My wife and I had a great stay. The cabin is in a great location and felt very secluded along with a great view and deck!
We loved having you as our guest! Thank you for the shout out! Come back again real soon--the deck overlooking the springs below is a super sweet view!
