my family and I stayed at this property for two days, while visiting the Volcano National Park, during our tour around Big Island. we fell in love with the house immediately: every detail, every little part of the house is arranged to make you feel comfortable and welcome. every room was clean and well organized and we enjoyed every minute of these two days. after hiking around the VNP and its trails, we were most happy to come back to the house, arrange our family dinner (ps. try to get all your groceries before coming to Volcano City, it's quite challenging to find a nice variety of food in the local stores) or just wonder around the garden in search of nenes.
our deepest thank you to Cathy and David for sharing their house with us. we sincerely wish we could have stayed longer...

The property was better than we expected. We were only a mile or so to Volcanoes National Park. Make sure that you purchase groceries in Hilo or Kona. The local store is pricey. We loved are stay and would recommend this home to all.
We have family of 6 adults and had a wonderful stay. The owners truly take great care of the house and they thought of EVERYTHING for the guests (linens, bath products, laundry items, cooking and BBQ accessories, entertainment system, etc.). The house is conveniently located 5 min away from the Volcano NP entrance. The environment is also quiet and cool. We actually did stargazing at the backyard at nights. The house is clean, spacious, and in excellent condition (even better than the pictures!).
Best of all, the owners are very fast in responding to our e-mails, questions, and requests (usually within 1-2 hours). We went there when Hurricane Madeline and Lester hit and the owners were extremely accommodating with the potential change in the booking. We decided to keep the original reservation, but we truly appreciate the owners' flexibility and willingness to work with the customers.
I can’t say enough good things about the owners and the house. We will definitely come back to them next time when we return to the Volcano NP.
We stayed for 3 nights in August so that we could explore the area before heading to the other side of the island, and we're so glad we did. The home was clean and comfortable for our family of five, children ages 12, 10, and 6. The kitchen was well equipped. After a day of hiking and exploring, it was a pleasure to sit on the lanai and watch our kids play in the backyard. The woods that abut the yard have a jungle-like feel to us Massachusetts folks, and the kids had a blast playing in them. The house is 10 minutes from the entrance of Volcano National Park. We also took a trip to the southern tip to visit and tour the lava caverns there, ate at the southernmost bakery in the U.S., and visited the sea turtles on the black sand beach. So much to do, and the home was a nice comfort to come back to. With the windows open at night, we were cool and comfortable. We didn't encounter any problems or concerns.
We stayed in three different places during our trip to the islands and this was our favorite by far. Very clean, spacious, bedrooms to hang out in when privacy needed and lots of room in the main areas for family time. Updated, newer property and very well equipped. We used this as our base and took many excursions from here, exploring the east side of the island. Lots of appreciated little touches-soap in the bathrooms, shampoo and conditioner.... We loved this house and would not hesitate to return. Overall a great experience!!
5 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The home of Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on earth... and miles of stunning hiking trails.
