Surrounded on three sides by ohia and koa forest, you can listen to the quiet when you chose Hale Ohia for your Volcano experience.
Located on the sunny side of Volcano, the entrance into the spectacular Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park is just 5 minutes away.
This property, situated on a peaceful and quiet street in the desirable Volcano Golf Course neighborhood, features a fully equipped kitchen, full size washer/dryer, free WiFi, cozy living room/dining area with gas fireplace, spacious master bedroom suite (with plenty of room for futons on the floor for kids) and a large master bathroom with 2 sinks and spacious walk-in tiled shower. The guest bedrooms share a bath with shower. Sit on the cozy covered lanai and enjoy the views of the secluded and peaceful yard and koa forest at the back of the property, as well as the many native birds who call the area their home.
You are within walking distance of the beautiful (and rarely crowded) 18 hole Volcano Golf Course as well as the Volcano Winery. The neighborhood (the nicest in Volcano) has wide quiet paved streets that are ideal for running, walking, cycling, etc.
Some quotes from three recent reviews (full reviews below):
"This house has to be the nicest house in Volcano"
"The house was immaculate"
"Great house in like new condition"
The owners also have another popular vacation rental property in Volcano, VRBO# 669216
We have family of 6 adults and had a wonderful stay. The owners truly take great care of the house and they thought of EVERYTHING for the guests (linens, bath products, laundry items, cooking and BBQ accessories, entertainment system, etc.). The house is conveniently located 5 min away from the Volcano NP entrance. The environment is also quiet and cool. We actually did stargazing at the backyard at nights. The house is clean, spacious, and in excellent condition (even better than the pictures!).
Best of all, the owners are very fast in responding to our e-mails, questions, and requests (usually within 1-2 hours). We went there when Hurricane Madeline and Lester hit and the owners were extremely accommodating with the potential change in the booking. We decided to keep the original reservation, but we truly appreciate the owners' flexibility and willingness to work with the customers.
I can’t say enough good things about the owners and the house. We will definitely come back to them next time when we return to the Volcano NP.
We stayed for 3 nights in August so that we could explore the area before heading to the other side of the island, and we're so glad we did. The home was clean and comfortable for our family of five, children ages 12, 10, and 6. The kitchen was well equipped. After a day of hiking and exploring, it was a pleasure to sit on the lanai and watch our kids play in the backyard. The woods that abut the yard have a jungle-like feel to us Massachusetts folks, and the kids had a blast playing in them. The house is 10 minutes from the entrance of Volcano National Park. We also took a trip to the southern tip to visit and tour the lava caverns there, ate at the southernmost bakery in the U.S., and visited the sea turtles on the black sand beach. So much to do, and the home was a nice comfort to come back to. With the windows open at night, we were cool and comfortable. We didn't encounter any problems or concerns.
We stayed in three different places during our trip to the islands and this was our favorite by far. Very clean, spacious, bedrooms to hang out in when privacy needed and lots of room in the main areas for family time. Updated, newer property and very well equipped. We used this as our base and took many excursions from here, exploring the east side of the island. Lots of appreciated little touches-soap in the bathrooms, shampoo and conditioner.... We loved this house and would not hesitate to return. Overall a great experience!!
The house is wonderful - the photos do not do it justice. The house is easy to find and close to the NP, golf, & the winery. The backyard is large; perfect for the kids to play in when we were not adventuring and for the adults to star-watch in at night. The rooms are big and the kitchen is well stocked. This was our 3rd time staying in Volcano and we will definitely stay in this house again when we return!
The description of the property was accurate but was even better in reality.
Beautifully presented. Full amenities. Excellent value for money.
Very clean, up to date facilities and extremely well cared for.
All details were thought of and we were made to feel very welcome.
Instructions for use of amenities were clear and easy to follow.
We would definitely recommend to others.
Lava Rock cafe - great pasta (but sadly not open on Sunday).
Volcano National Park is a 'must see'.
** Additional Comment: The address of the property was difficult to find. We were directed to a second 'Hale Ohia' which is a very luxurious 'Bed and Breakfast' and was almost the same address on our print out instructions. Thankfully, we persisted in our search, as we could easily have just given up and gone back to the 'B&B'
Overall, Hawaii is not an easy place to navigate due to poor road identification and lack of signage. Satellite navigation is a must.

5 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The home of Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on earth... and miles of stunning hiking trails.
