Great choice for volcano area
Nice, very spacious home in the golf course community near Volcano village, which has several good restaurant options, and also convenient to the Volcano National Park. Would be great for a family with kids with the very spacious back yard. Also a nice neighborhood for walking. We enjoyed the gas fireplace in the cool evenings.
Very clean home, quiet neighborhood and convenient to the park.
If we have to complain about one thing is the home was cold. Granted we were there during an unexpected continuous rainy spell. The property was very clean and well kept. Everything worked well for us. The home met our expectations.
House was clean, and the backyard looked like we were tucked away in a secluded forest. The kitchen was very well-stocked with cookware, appliances, utensils, coffee and spices. The beds were comfortable and warm. The bathrooms were stocked with soap, shampoo & conditioner, insect repellant, no body lotion. The fireplace in the living room was wonderful especially when we woke up one morning to 46 degrees....brrrr! The water filter system makes a few funky noises for a short while early in the morning, otherwise the house is very quiet.
House is 5 minutes away from Volcano National Park, so we went in & out a couple of times. It was convenient to drive in to see the glow of the volcano at night without having to drive far in the dark. Unfortunately, the evening was cloudy, otherwise the night sky can be spectacular! We enjoyed the visit to the art gallery next to the Visitor's Center, where there's lots of stuff by local artists.
The Farmers Market in Volcano Village was fun with produce, local crafts and ready-to-eat food. It opens 6:30 - 10:00am.
We had a great time in the house & wish we could've stayed longer!
lovely home and convenient location
Very nice space that worked well for our family of 5 adults and one toddler. We got soaked hiking in Volcano National Park one morning and it was great to be able to go "home" and get dry clothes before heading out again. The gas fireplace made for a very cozy atmosphere, especially since it rained a lot while we were visiting. We were disappointed there was no lava flowing, but it was still a fascinating place to visit. It's easy, quick, (and very cool) to drive back into the park from the house at night to see the glowing/bubbling crater from the Jaggar Museum.
Recommendation: buy groceries in Hilo, prices in Volcano are REALLY high, even by Hawaiian standards. Also, we had a very tasty lunch from the Thai food truck in Volcano, which is parked next to the community center (with picnic tables, restrooms, and a playground.) We also loved the black sand beach 20 miles South, and saw 5 turtles there.
Quiet and super close to VNP. Perfect for what we needed.
Great location and nice and quiet! Plenty of room for our family and everyone got there own room and bed.
Comfortable, clean, good location
We appreciate the very prompt response from owners (or managers) of the property when we had a couple of questions before our stay and their follow up at the end of the stay. Everything was as presented online.
Wish we could have had a 11:00 AM checkout time instead of 10:00 AM. I know it had to be cleaned for the guests arriving that same day, but 10:00 AM is a little early when you can't check-in until 3:00 PM. One other small thing....you need to replace the large frying pan. It has a very rounded, warped bottom and is difficult to use.
Overall, though, a very good few days away from Kona. Mele Kalikimaka
5 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The home of Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on earth... and miles of stunning hiking trails.
