Surrounded on three sides by ohia and koa forest, you can listen to the quiet when you chose Hale Ohia for your Volcano experience.
Located on the sunny side of Volcano, the entrance into the spectacular Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park is just 5 minutes away.
This property, situated on a peaceful and quiet street in the desirable Volcano Golf Course neighborhood, features a fully equipped kitchen, full size washer/dryer, free WiFi, cozy living room/dining area with gas fireplace, spacious master bedroom suite (with plenty of room for futons on the floor for kids) and a large master bathroom with 2 sinks and spacious walk-in tiled shower. The guest bedrooms share a bath with shower. Sit on the cozy covered lanai and enjoy the views of the secluded and peaceful yard and koa forest at the back of the property, as well as the many native birds who call the area their home.

We stayed at this house for 2 nights so we could spend a couple of days in HVNP. The entrance to Volcano National Park is just down the road and there are restaurants to eat at in Volcano Village which is less than 10 min away. If you are staying in Kona or Hilo before coming to this area, I recommend buying groceries at a Wal-Mart or other local grocery store. Items in this area are super expensive! We recommend Eagles Lighthouse Cafe for breakfast and Thai Thai Restaurant for lunch or dinner...delicious food!! This house is very convenient to the park and we felt right at home! Jeff and Cathy were wonderful and they were just a phone call/text message away if we needed anything!
I participate in an annual multi-day friendly golf tourney at the Volcano GC. Instead of driving back and forth to Hilo, Jeff and Kathy's house is always my first choice for accommodations in the volcano area. It's a great house with an open floor plan that is great for a couple or families.
We were very happy with our stay. The house was clean, modern, and well equipped and on a quiet street, very close to the entrance to the Volcanoes National Park. It has a lovely backyard. The living room, dining room, kitchen and master suite were very spacious. The other two bedrooms were a little on the small side. The house uses a rain catchment system for water. The water pressure was a little low, but manageable. WiFi was good speed, but we needed to reset the router a couple of times. Note the Volcano area is 4,000 feet above sea level, and it can get quite rainy and colder here than in Kona, bring appropriate clothing.
Location was very close to Volcano national park and Valcono village. Great house and back yard.
This is a beautiful home in a great location outside the volcano park entrance. I think it is almost impossible to get closer. It is very well equipped in all areas. Having the garage to load or unload in the rain was helpful. The landscaping was nice. Other volcano homes I have renter were always damp and that is NOT the case with this home. My only point for improvement is a larger master bed. Note to owner- I reconnected the dryer vent tube- looks like it has been off for awhile. Suggest looking at washer- seemed to run an excessively long time.
This home was impeccably clean, convenient to VNP (literally right across the street), only thirty minutes from Hilo, and QUIET. I have never been in a quieter home in my life, there was absolutely no sound at all unless you opened the windows or turned on a fan or the fireplace. Cooler up here at this altitude and no heat, but the gas fireplace kept the living room cozy and there were space heaters available (which we didn't use). Volcano winery is less than a half mile walk away. My wife and two college aged kids really liked the home as well. I would recommend this property to anyone and Jeff and Cathy Dale handled everything very professionally from start to finish.
5 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The home of Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on earth... and miles of stunning hiking trails.
