Garden villa overlooking the sea in traditional village setting

Bedrooms 2
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Two bedrooms, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, sleeps 4

This garden villa is situated on the scenic north coast of Menorca overlooking the unspoilt bay and beach of Cala Tirant. Playas de Fornells has been tastefully designed to recapture the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish village and the garden setting and lovely views ensure the right frame of mind for a relaxing holiday.

The swimming pool to the rear is shared with the other garden villas in a delightful garden. The beach is only two minutes away and provides safe swimming in the sheltered bay. The long golden sands of Cala Tirant are never crowded even in the height of summer.

A small supermarket is close by so that self catering is very convenient. Dining out however, is a real pleasure in nearby Fornells, a picturesque and unspoilt fishing village noted for its seafood. Some restaurants have their own fishing boats so that freshness is guaranteed, with the famous Lobster Caldereta being the signature dish.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We returned from Menorca earlier this week. We had a very good holiday, liked the villa and were happy there.

It is very well situated, well equipped and I think we were lucky to find it.

Morning coffee on the terrace tasted like in heaven!

Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to stay there.

I have already recommended it to my friends.

A well positioned villa with best views.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great holiday in the villa for two adults although the villa was sufficiently roomy to take a family of four. The outdoor space was really excellent with sunny and shady areas available no matter what time of day. The outdoor eating space was specifically good with amazing views across to the playa de Fornelles beach.

The location is excellent, with 2 supermarkets and 3 excellent restaurants just a few minutes walk up the road with more options nearby. Playa de Fornells beach with safe bathing for children is only ten minutes walk away and the villa has access to a good pool which is only minutes away.

I would recommend this villas position, outside space and view to anyone.

Perfect place to stay for a relaxing holiday.

Another great stay in this lovely villa! The weather was warm enough to have breakfast on the terrace, as we really enjoy sitting amongst the flowers appreciating the view over the sea, beach and countryside.

We had delightful walks taking much pleasure in the migrating birds and wild flowers, which were at their peak at this time of year. We always look forward to the cold beer on the terrace afterwards!

The prehistoric monuments are also a great attraction for us and there is plenty of information on all these aspects in the villa.

The only rainy day gave us the opportunity to visit the museum in Mahon and learn more about Menorca's fascinating history.

We were really impressed with the new bathroom and the brilliant shower which was just the ticket after the exertions of the day.

Many thanks Malcolm and Margaret, we will be back!

Our 3rd holiday in this lovely villa!

  • 5 of 5

This is our third visit to the island, our third stay in this lovely little villa, and we shall return!

We appreciated the layout of the villa. The 2 bedrooms are a good size, light, with plenty of storage space. The kitchen area is compact but well-equipped. The dining/lounge room area seats 4 for dining and similarly on easy chairs. The bathroom is new and has an excellent shower. The patio comprises 3 small areas with outside table & chairs and recliners, plus a BBQ. There are excellent views of the surrounding area, particularly of the distant hills, and glimpses of the sea and beach. The villas in the complex are tastefully sited such that the patios are not overlooked by neighbours. The gardens are beautifully maintained with flowers in abundance.

The beach is a curved sandy bay which is a short walk away whilst the Garden Villa complex has its own swimming pool.

The Garden Villas are part of a larger resort which is very attractive and easy on the eye. There are supermarkets within short walking distance. There is a friendly cafe-bar (Okapi) and other good restaurants nearby. The fishing village of Fornells is a short drive (or a coastal walk) away with its interesting history and seaside restaurants. Es Mercadal is just inland with a good supermarket, shops, a weekly market, and local restaurants well-worth visiting

Menorca is a lovely island, easy to navigate by car, mainly flat and has a lot to offer. We are especially interested in the mysterious pre-historic sites which abound in the island - and the architectual reminders that the British were in control for almost a century! The villa is located in an ideal position to explore the island, midway between the 2 historic cities with a choice of routes to reach them.

The British owners of this property are extremely helpful and obliging and the booking process is simple and stress-free. Thanks Malcolm!

Recently returned from another wonderful holiday in Garden Villa's, Playa Fornells. We first rented Malcolm's villa over 20 years ago and have returned every year since. The character, view, space and facilities immediately impressed us.

The accommodation has 2 good sized bedrooms with ample storage, a gorgeous new bathroom with a fabulous shower, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable living area with amazing views towards the bay and Mount Toro. There is generous outside space to relax and enjoy the view complete with built-in BBQ.

Garden Villa's is an attractive complex with 2 pools and beautiful gardens. The beach and a couple of supermarkets are a short walk away. I can recommend Bar Okapi for a friendly welcome, good food and delicious cocktails whilst watching the sunset.

Fornells is a short drive away and has a picturesque harbour, several excellent restaurants and facilities for water sports. It is ideally situated near the centre of the island and a short drive from the airport at Mahon.

Menorca is a really friendly island with lovely walks, interesting places to visit and plenty of safe beaches to enjoy - everything for a wonderful holiday.

We arrived at the beginning of July and found the villa with the aid of Malcolm's instructions - the development has an interesting numbering system! We were very happy with the accommodation and the new bathroom. The three patios at the front were extremely useful as they provided sun and shade as required. It felt quite secluded even though a pathway ran alongside but we only ever saw a few people go past. It was a short walk up the path and behind the villa to the small pool - which was adequate for a morning dip. We only saw a couple of other people using the pool. It was a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach which is linked by a walkway to another beach which is longer and less busy. The supermarket and restaurants/cafes were all nearby and we especially enjoyed the Bar Okapi. We decided not to hire a car and found the bus service worked extremely well. It went to many places direct from Cala Tirant (the nearest bus stop) or by changing bus at Fornells or Es Mercadel you can go on to anywhere else e.g. Ciutadella. Although the buses run late in the evening from the big towns they don't go on to Cala Tirant, so we'd get a taxi from Es Mercadal or Fornells. Cafe Bistro Sol 32 in Es Mercadal is well worth a visit - fantastic food. Gill at MC Property Services was very helpful regarding the villa, arranging transport and for tourist information - where to eat, shopping, buses etc. Malcolm was very prompt, efficient and accommodating dealing with our booking. We just wish we could have stayed longer!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your positive feedback. We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed your vacation at Garden Villas and in this case to have taken advantage of the local transport facilities, as our guests usually hire a car for greater convenience. Also appreciate your nice comments about the new bathroom as we have had a similar reaction from other guests. Your comments regarding the handily adjacent Bar Okapi and Cafe Bistro Sol 32 in Es Mercadal are very appropriate, as these are our favourites too! Hope to welcome you back for a longer stay next time!

Gorgeous holiday spot1

We visited Menorca in October and had a fantastic two weeks. This property is very well located for exploring the island. It is a lovely place to get back to at the end of the day, to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine enjoying the beautiful views before having a very tasty meal at the excellent Es Cactus bar at the top of the road.

The property was equipped with most things you need and the BBQ was a very welcome feature. There are a few supermarkets nearby, although only one was open by the time we left. There are loads of really good beaches to visit, many are very good for snorkeling. There are also some very good walks especially in the national park.

Malcolm was most helpful and the car hire firm he recommended was excellent.

I would definitely recommend this property and we are considering going back.

Owner's Response: So pleased to hear that you had a fantastic two weeks and that you found the location ideal for exploring the island. Being mid way down the north coast is very handy for visiting most of the attractions. Glad you were able to make use of the BBQ. It is certainly handy for grilling the local steaks and fresh fish. Thank you for your appreciative comments and we will look forward to welcoming you back.

In addition to the safe bathing in Cala Tirant which is adjacent to the property the Bay of Fornells (5mins by car) offers superb sailing, as well as diving and kayak. A little further afield at Son Parc (15mins by car) there is an 18 hole golf course open to there public. The unspoilt market town of Mercadal (10mins by car)has retained its old world charm and offers great shopping facilities in its traditional high street. With the recent opening of the Cami de Cavalls(old coast path) there are many beautiful walks nearby which afford great opportunities for bird watching along with swathes of wild flowers in spring and remote beaches accessible only on foot or by boat.
