This garden villa is situated on the scenic north coast of Menorca overlooking the unspoilt bay and beach of Cala Tirant. Playas de Fornells has been tastefully designed to recapture the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish village and the garden setting and lovely views ensure the right frame of mind for a relaxing holiday.

The swimming pool to the rear is shared with the other garden villas in a delightful garden. The beach is only two minutes away and provides safe swimming in the sheltered bay. The long golden sands of Cala Tirant are never crowded even in the height of summer.

A small supermarket is close by so that self catering is very convenient. Dining out however, is a real pleasure in nearby Fornells, a picturesque and unspoilt fishing village noted for its seafood. Some restaurants have their own fishing boats so that freshness is guaranteed, with the famous Lobster Caldereta being the signature dish.

Recently returned from another wonderful holiday in Garden Villa's, Playa Fornells. We first rented Malcolm's villa over 20 years ago and have returned every year since. The character, view, space and facilities immediately impressed us.

The accommodation has 2 good sized bedrooms with ample storage, a gorgeous new bathroom with a fabulous shower, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable living area with amazing views towards the bay and Mount Toro. There is generous outside space to relax and enjoy the view complete with built-in BBQ.

Garden Villa's is an attractive complex with 2 pools and beautiful gardens. The beach and a couple of supermarkets are a short walk away. I can recommend Bar Okapi for a friendly welcome, good food and delicious cocktails whilst watching the sunset.

Fornells is a short drive away and has a picturesque harbour, several excellent restaurants and facilities for water sports. It is ideally situated near the centre of the island and a short drive from the airport at Mahon.

Menorca is a really friendly island with lovely walks, interesting places to visit and plenty of safe beaches to enjoy - everything for a wonderful holiday.

We arrived at the beginning of July and found the villa with the aid of Malcolm's instructions - the development has an interesting numbering system! We were very happy with the accommodation and the new bathroom. The three patios at the front were extremely useful as they provided sun and shade as required. It felt quite secluded even though a pathway ran alongside but we only ever saw a few people go past. It was a short walk up the path and behind the villa to the small pool - which was adequate for a morning dip. We only saw a couple of other people using the pool. It was a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach which is linked by a walkway to another beach which is longer and less busy. The supermarket and restaurants/cafes were all nearby and we especially enjoyed the Bar Okapi. We decided not to hire a car and found the bus service worked extremely well. It went to many places direct from Cala Tirant (the nearest bus stop) or by changing bus at Fornells or Es Mercadel you can go on to anywhere else e.g. Ciutadella. Although the buses run late in the evening from the big towns they don't go on to Cala Tirant, so we'd get a taxi from Es Mercadal or Fornells. Cafe Bistro Sol 32 in Es Mercadal is well worth a visit - fantastic food. Gill at MC Property Services was very helpful regarding the villa, arranging transport and for tourist information - where to eat, shopping, buses etc. Malcolm was very prompt, efficient and accommodating dealing with our booking. We just wish we could have stayed longer!

Gorgeous holiday spot1

We visited Menorca in October and had a fantastic two weeks. This property is very well located for exploring the island. It is a lovely place to get back to at the end of the day, to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine enjoying the beautiful views before having a very tasty meal at the excellent Es Cactus bar at the top of the road.

The property was equipped with most things you need and the BBQ was a very welcome feature. There are a few supermarkets nearby, although only one was open by the time we left. There are loads of really good beaches to visit, many are very good for snorkeling. There are also some very good walks especially in the national park.

Malcolm was most helpful and the car hire firm he recommended was excellent.

I would definitely recommend this property and we are considering going back.

Fantastic for a out of season holiday.

Most people go to Menorca for the summer sun and the beaches but this is a fantastic island whatever the season. We enjoyed our December stay in the Garden Villa and our walks on the very scenic Cami de Cavalls, the long distance footpath that circles the island. The Cami passes within 100 yards of the villa. Temperatures at night can fall into single figures but we found the Garden Villa to be very cosy. During the day the weather was sunny and pleasantly warm, just right for walking. We found a few restaurants open in the bigger towns, including Fornells, with great Menu of the Day deals. A hire car from the airport is a must out of season, dont expect any public transport.

Whilst most guests enjoy the hotter weather, the cooler times of year are ideal for walking on the scenic coastal Cami de Cavalls. For nature lovers in general there is always the chance of spotting a rare migratory bird and in springtime the wild flowers are wonderful.

Fantastic family holiday

The villa was as descrbed, fully equipped with everything you require.... the patio BBQ was perfect for lazy evenings watching the sunset. Lovely quiet beach 5 mins away and a nice clean pool which never seemed to get too busy. The view from the patio was a joy each morning/evening. Several very nice restaurants within walking distance (3-5 mins) in particular Cafe Nord and Es Cactus, also a couple of supermarkets a few mnutes away fromt the villa selling eveything from food, gifts to beachwear. We found having a car a great opportunity to explore further afirled and would recommend this if possible as our 2 teenage daughters really enjoyed seeing the more commercial (busier) parts of the island but a car is in no way a necissity. Would recommend food shopping at the bigger supermarkets in Es Mercadel or Mahon as prices were considerably cheaper than local. We enjoyed a wonder around Mahon town/port, Fornells is also a must.... too many beaches to list but Cala Pregonda is worth a mention (beautiful location, great snorkelling but a bit of a walk!). Malcolm was very easy to deal with and most helpful throughout the booking etc... and also recommended a car hire company who provided an excellent service, We would return to this villa/location again without a doubt.

What an amazing little place!

We really cannot speak too highly of this property nor of the kindness and consideration of the owners.

Apart from being in a beautiful setting, the property is superbly maintained and everything is in excellent condition and works as it should. The two bedrooms are light, airy and spacious. The kitchen is compact but perfectly adequate and well equipped. The bathroom is clean and tidy with a large hot water tank providing oodles of hot water whenever you want it. The main room and outside terraces are all well appointed. The communal swimming pool is well maintained and, for those who don't mind getting sand between their toes, the beach is a short three minute walk away. The appartment is quiet and relaxing. Very highly recommended. We shall definitely return.

The owners we found to be friendly and helpful at every stage of the booking process. We couldn't have asked for more!!

In addition to the safe bathing in Cala Tirant which is adjacent to the property the Bay of Fornells (5mins by car) offers superb sailing, as well as diving and kayak. A little further afield at Son Parc (15mins by car) there is an 18 hole golf course open to there public. The unspoilt market town of Mercadal (10mins by car)has retained its old world charm and offers great shopping facilities in its traditional high street. With the recent opening of the Cami de Cavalls(old coast path) there are many beautiful walks nearby which afford great opportunities for bird watching along with swathes of wild flowers in spring and remote beaches accessible only on foot or by boat.
