About Todd or Jared
Todd and Jared own this property as a getaway for each of our families.
Todd or Jared purchased this House in 2009
Why Todd or Jared chose Weston
We decided to put it on VRBO because we are not able to get out as much as we would like. We enjoy sharing this beautiful property with others. We hope you are able to create the same type of great memories that we do.
What makes this House unique
If this place doesn't lower your stress levels, nothing will. The view from the deck is marvelous. If the season is right, you will be overwhelmed by the hummingbirds. Or at the very least entertained.

Very restful, but lacking in key communication over safety issue
We utterly enjoyed the cabin, location, and amenities. The owner was also extremely helpful from the start in communicating information about the area and what to look for while we were there. Everything went well except for one issue that was a serious scare: The downstairs bathroom had a double-glass sliding shower door. My wife was in the process of giving my 9 year old daughter a shower, and as she went to slide the door, the other half of it fell into the shower and completely shattered over my daughter. Miraculously, my daughter somehow only got glass in her feet from pieces on the floor, but it could have been far worse. After talking to Jared (one of the owners), he was concerned and offered to have it all cleaned up, which was done the following day. The next day, I learned that the broken glass panel was actually missing a roller, which I noticed had been sitting on the bathroom counter when we arrived. This is why the panel came out of the track when my wife tried to slide it open. My one and only concern is that the owners were aware this was an issue and it wasn’t disclosed prior to us using it; only after the fact. This sounds like a grim review, and I am one to normally shy away from those, but it is something I felt worth noting. Everything else about the stay was exceptional, and we had no other complaints.
Yes that's on me. I had just noticed it the week before when I was out there. It totally slipped my mind. I'm sure glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise. I'm also gad every one is OK.
Great relaxing stay
Went with a group for business. The cabin was the perfect place to get back and relax and wind down after a busy day. Owner was very helpful and accommodating. Place was clean and was pretty well stocked.
Wonderful location, Wonderful Views, All around wonderufl
Coming from Denver we didn't quite know what to expect during our drive down. Once we pulled up to the property we instantly realized the pictures of this property doesn't do it justice. There is a hill leading up to the cabin that may look a bit scarier than it actually is. We had a 4x4 and FWD vehicle that had no problems getting up it but if there is snow I would definitely recommend 4WD. Jared (or Todd) will tell you all of this along with many other helpful things but one thing I feel is important to mention is how good the communication was. Jared responded quickly and really made the process easy for us.
The cabin has such a beautiful appearance from the polished wood beams to the lofted master bedroom layout that it is easy to forget you're out in the wilderness. Ostensibly, anything that is 20 minutes from the store is considered wilderness in my book. With that being said, the kitchen has all the utensils you need for a nice home-cooked meal including a griddle that was perfect for breakfast. We were happy to find there were a few things in the kitchen cabinet as this is extremely thoughtful given you're about 25 miles outside of the grocery store in Trinidad. The beds were comfy and each room had their own separate heater. There was plenty of extra bedding and enough towels for an extended stay. The master had its own bed and so did the room with the queen size bed. The main level room had 2 sets of bunk beds and the downstairs had another set of bunk beds with a couch.
Looks like we were the first guests with the new couches and they were amazing. We didn't even leave the house one day, so be prepared to veg out for a while when you sit down. The awesome living room set up EASILY fits 10 people and there is a sitting chair on the loft level that overlooks both the kitchen and living room which was cool.
All in all, this was a wonderful experience and we're already trying to plan the next time we can come back.
Matt, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I hope you can make it back.
Great place to stay ! Plenty of space for two people or a large family
The house is a great place to stay! It is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful! We enjoy watching wildlife from the huge deck or hiking the property. Location is near lakes, recreation areas and Cuchara Pass has one of the best hiking trails with gorgeous views. Our family stays twice a year, during summer and also winter. The large wood stove is the best! It heats the entire house easily. The owners are always very accommodating and helpful! You only need to bring clothing and food . The house has everything else you would need. Our family will continue to stay in this beautiful house, every chance we get!
We are always glad to host you Christina.
Best trip EVER!
Beautiful views, spacious cabin and excellent communication from the hosts are a few of the many incredible things that this property has to offer. I have spent a lot of time in Colorado over the course of the past 20 years at resorts and other properties but have never had an experience like this one. When you dream about what a Colorado vacation would be like this is exactly what I have always hoped for. Cabin is located high enough in elevation that you have incredible views. You are within 20 minutes of many rustic mountain towns. It is really the best of both worlds; you are in the back country of Colorado and have access to some amazing towns that make this great state what it is! The kitchen is huge and there are tons of options for dishes and other amenities. Big Screen TV, wood burning fire place and an awesome master suite on the second floor. I have never seen such beautiful stars in my entire life! We also went snowmobiling, snowshoeing and snowboarding just 15 minutes from the cabin. Most of our communication was with one of the owners, Todd. He was quick to respond and even went the extra mile in connecting us with some locals who essentially because our back country tour guides. If there are openings I would book it asap before someone else does.
Thanks Kyle, we're glad you guys had a great trip, and hope to host your group again soon.
Disappointed w/cabin rental
I will start off by saying the location of the cabin is beautiful and peaceful, just as advertised and what many of the reviews stated. Unfortunately, that was the only thing we enjoyed at the cabin. We know it's a cabin with rustic living however that does not mean the inside of the cabin should not be clean, especially if a cleaning service is utilized to "clean" it and part of the rental fee. The cabinets/shelves in the kitchen and both bathrooms were very dirty, previous renters belongings left behind, etc. The kitchen appliances were all very dirty and again did not appear to have been cleaned or even wiped down. All of the living room furniture was worn and very dirty, dark soil stains, etc. The carpet in the entire cabin was very dirty and did not appear to have been vacuumed after the last stay. I would highly recommend a deep cleaning of the entire cabin that would also include getting rid of all the extra food, toiletries, etc that previous renters have left behind. We did need to put baseboard heating on and as directed in your instruction letter, we looked for a pair of pliers in the kitchen drawer but there were none in there. There was plenty of other unnecessary items in the drawer though (hence the need for a deep cleaning). The board games, puzzles, etc are not complete nor did the Nintendo WII work so I would not advertise those things until completed. Again, we know it's a cabin in the mountains but the flies and wasps were really intense, especially if we made diligent efforts to keep the doors closed. It's pretty bad when you have to vacuum the flies up and kill wasps with the flyswatter inside the cabin. The outside condition of the cabin did not appear maintained either so I'm guessing the wasps and flies are getting in through some holes in the walls. Finally, the directions that were provided were incorrect and did cause a delay in arriving at the cabin. It's very understandable that you want rental prices want to be kept low so families can afford it, etc (what you have responded in previous review response) however I think providing a clean and solid rental is of most value and people will likely pay for it. Highly dissatisfied with the cabin, will not be returning.
We are sorry that you were not pleased with our cabin. We welcome and appreciate families with children and pets. By doing so we understand that things get moved, lost, or spilled. We don't fuss because it's a remote rental cabin in the mountains that's not priced like the Ritz. We will take note of the missing items and try to get it rectified.
