About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bath, full kitchen with views of fern forest, 2 miles to Park

Although the property is within walking distance of the Village and just a couple of miles from the National Park, Volcano Villa sits on a full acre and is wonderfully private. Under new ownership (formerly known as 'The Deck House' of My Island B & B). Floors and many of the furnishings have been updated. High open-beam ceilings and large windows in the living room and kitchen give a spacious feel while allowing inviting views of the outdoors. Cuddle up in front of woodburning stove on leather sofa and loveseat.

Flatscreen TV, DVD player, CD player/radio, and WiFi. Dining room table seating for six. Lanai table, also seats 6, for covered outdoor dining surrounded by forest colors and sounds. Master bedroom features King-size bed and own bathroom with shower/tub. At night, King and Queen beds have view from pillow to stars through large picture-windows. 3rd bedroom has 2 XLong twin beds and window seat book nook. All bedrooms have brand new space heaters and beds have electric 'bedwarmers' for the cool Volcano nights.

Second bathroom adjacent to queen room, also has combination shower/tub. BBQ for outdoor grilling. Full size washer & dryer. Landscaped yard has large open lawn area in front of house ideal for kids to run around and play. It's big enough for a game of soccer. The back & sides of the house are surrounded by rain forest (there are no other houses close by) A trail winds through cymbidium, anthuriums, hapu`u and ohia forest behind the house. Front and side yard landscaped with hydrangeas, agapanthus, day-lily, azalea, rhododendron, camellia, magnolia, giant bird of paradise, & more varieties of anthurium

What makes this house unique

Sitting on the large front porch, lanai off the dining/living area, or deck off the master bedroom, sip your morning coffee or afternoon tea in comfort while listening to the sounds of birds. Enjoy the refreshing mountain air, greenery and brightly colored flowers that surround you. Many large windows bring the outdoors to you while in the kitchen, living or bedrooms. The front door frames a wonderfully unique stained-glass volcano scene.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Patricia, Good morning, Yes indeed, we had very good time in Volcano, and very good staying in your house. Everything is fantastic! We even had a BBQ night there!!! All family was happy!!! Only one little detail. The curtains should be better. Too much light coming in. Gary was very helpful and a great person! Kind regards, Zong

Thank you for feedback. The curtains are next on our list of continuing upgrades. Aloha

Great location by park and not too far from Hilo

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. We used wood stove to remove the morning chill. Weather was perfect. We were planning to BBQ but there were no briquettes at the local stores. Only disappointment. Very quiet and relaxing although we kept busy. Beds were comfortable but neighbors rooster does carry on. Ear plugs solved that.

Be sure to visit the Park at night to see the Volcano. We also Biked into the volcano lava flow meeting the ocean. (Not part of park but rangers can tell you-130 ends)You don't need a tour, bike rentals including electric were available at all hours. Signs say closed but it is not. Wind on return bike trip was brutal.

Lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This home is very convenient to Volcano National Park. There is plenty of space and it is nicely done. It is well stocked in the kitchen. Our boys loved running around in the yard. It is a nice setting. The electric blankets on each bed were lovely. It is chilly at night but they were all we needed. The fresh air coming in was nice to sleep with. The mattresses are quite firm. Also, there is a rooster next door that really thinks you need to be up at 5am. I would still choose to stay here again. It is cozy and nice.

easy going house close to Volcanos Park

  • 4 of 5

we enjoyed our stay and Volcano Villa. It was easy to find, lovely setting in a large, lush garden and the house was well equipped, spacious and comfortable.

Great place for a family or group looking to be as close to Volcanoes as possible. We spent two nights and enjoyed the park. 10 am check out was a bit early .

We loved staying here. Very clean, nice setting and great location. The property is beautiful and has nice space for kids to explore. The house is nicely set up for a family and having a washer and dryer is great.

Perfect Volcano National Park base

  • 5 of 5

Great place, you feel secluded but very close to park entrance. Owners were responsive to questions. The only surprises were pleasant ones (lots of extra towels, three decks, easy walking to cafes and shops).
