We have teenagers and a toddler. This house had a great location for a mix of activities. Teenagers headed to town or the beach everyday, both are just two blocks from house. Our toddler enjoyed an adventure camp at Boyne just several minutes drive from house. Tunnel of trees starts just above the back of the house on the bluff and we were able to easily carry and launch our kayak just four blocks away at Ford Park. We took advantage of daily mass across the street at the Holy Childhood Parish. And, yes, the bells ring at 6 am, noon and 6 pm. By third day, we were able to sleep through the early morning ones. We really enjoyed this house. The updates throughout the house are top grade and in exactly the areas we used the most. The kitchen, the front porch, the first floor bedroom and the bathrooms. The front porch pictures do not do it justice. It is exactly what you need for a relaxing northern town vacation. We also loved that it is the only house on the block that sits back off street. Leaving a large front yard to watch the kids play while relaxing on the porch. My parents joined us and were able to have a quiet space to themselves with the first floor bedroom. We enjoyed meeting the owner, Jeff. He was very nice and very helpful.
Our group of 4 couples just came back from a long weekend in Harbor Springs. This house worked out perfectly for us. It is a beautiful old home that has been updated in many areas. One of the highlights was the new front porch which is where we spent most of our time. It's a great space to hang out and plenty big enough for a large group. The updated kitchen and bathrooms were also very nice. The 3 upstairs bedrooms haven't been redone but they're fine.
We've already decided this is the house we'll be renting next year too. It's really hard to beat the location and amenities this house has to offer.
The owner Jeff is very easy going and happy to help with anything you need.
Thanks, Jeff! We really enjoyed our weekend.
this is a lovely home. it fit all of our needs and we were very comfortable in the home.
this property is still being upgraded, but by no means is it in any level of disrepair. the door opens into a brand new kitchen with stainless steel appliances (all new), beautiful cabinetry and flooring. there is a table that seats 6 comfortably and a breakfast bar for at least 5. the living room is open to the kitchen. so no one has to feel left out of what is going on.
the living room is large and comfortable with big cozy furniture and a great fire place and TV with lots of channel choices. not the usual limited selections. this room is designed for your group to gather and watch the game, or play a game.
another feature that is quite striking is the beautiful front porch with the great white wicker furniture. there is plenty of seating and it's all very comfortable. the lawn leading up to the porch is lush and green. the house also has the advantage of having a deep set back from the street. this is great and a bit more private than being right on the walk. it's a great lawn and has plenty of space to play with safety.
there is a bedroom downstairs on the main floor. upstairs there is a master bedroom that is quite bright and has access to a small porch with chairs for that end of a busy day relaxing moment. the second bedroom has a queen bed and is quite dark. this has to do with the structure of the house and the need for darker curtains to keep that bright morning sun from shining in your sleepy eyes. but the beds in both rooms are comfortable and the linen is new and clean.there were only two couples and we did not need more than these two rooms, but there is a 3rd bedroom.
there is only one bathroom upstairs that is shared by all the bed rooms. there is a 3 piece bath room down stairs as well. the bathrooms are outdated but clean and very functional. they are on the remodeling list for this winter and this will only enhance the home's attractiveness. if all the rooms are filled one bathroom upstairs may be problem. we did not have that problem. the one detail that I must share is that while the house is in an excellent location to downtown. it is also across the street from a church. bells begin ringing at about 6:00 am on Sunday. this is part of the general background noise that HS folks are used to. we were not. they rang again at about 7:00 am. i doubt that they can be avoided if one stays in town.
