About the property

35% Raft & Kayak Discount At Cedar Rapids On The Delaware River 10 Minute Walk!

Location and Attractions:

This 800 square foot stream side cabin above the Delaware River plants you in nature and is a Cozy space to be in as well as the amazing panoramic beauty of New York Scenic Byway Route 97.. The Main Attraction in the winter months is the beauty of the area and close by skiing at Big Bear Masthope PA about a 15 minute drive from the cabin. Other Main attraction to the area during the warmer season is the gorgeous Delaware River for rafting and kayaking. There are many hiking trails as well. The area offers many restaurants such as the 2 River Junction which sits above both the Delaware and Lackawaxan Rivers with its floor to ceiling glass and views of the 2 rivers coming together. The Cedar Rapids Bar and Restaurant sits right on the Delaware River and hosts entertainment most weekends. There is also a newly opened micro brewery closeby and if your in the market for a classic car you can visit Churchill Classic Cars in Eldred. When you inquire ask us about the discounts we are able to give our guests on river boating as we have a special arrangement with Cedar Rapids.

We are 5 minute walking distance to all the great attractions Barryville has to offer right on the Delaware river. This cool 800 square foot stream-side cabin is located on a quiet developing organic farm. The cabin is within walking distance of boating, swimming, biking, hiking, paintball, ziplining, bird watching, etc. Other attractions close by include The Zane Grey Museum, The Tusten Trail on 10 Mile River, antiquing, art galleries, horseback riding, skiing (in season) and restaurants. The location is also driving distance (25 minutes) to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and Museum which hosts concerts throughout the season. If you feel like doing some meditation and taking some classes on developing inner peace, the world famous beautiful Kadampa Buddhist Temple and Meditation Center located in Glen Spey is only a 15 minute drive. They also serve a delicious lunch and dinner for only a $5.00 donation per person per meal. They get excellent reviews as one of the best places to visit in upstate New York.

The stream-side cabin is situated in a very unique location in that while it is walking distance to the Delaware River and all its attractions, by the same token it's also just far enough away from the action to still give you peace and quiet to get away from it all, as you can see from the pictures.

Guest Access

There is a large meadow in the front and the property is on a slowly developing organic farm. There are no farm animals as of yet other than a dog and a couple of friendly cats. Guests are also welcome to bring their pets to enjoy this great large outdoor space! Also, the separate main house has laundry facilities and the guests are welcome to wash their laundry by appointment if they are staying more than 3 days. There is also internet access on the property.

Interaction with Guests

The main house is not too far away from the cabin but we respect our guests privacy. The large developing garden is just beyond the meadow in front of the cabin. Guests may see us working on developing our garden from the distance and are welcome to interact with us if they so desire. It's a very laid back setting. No stress....;-) We are also able to offer our guests a substantial weekend discount on boating through an arrangement we have with Cedar Rapids Boating and Restaurant (pictured large building on the Delaware River) which is a 10 minute walk from our location.

The Neighborhood

We love the quiet and solitude of this rural area which sits along the Delaware River. The views are breathtaking. The wildlife is absolutely amazing and you're sure to see some while you're here but not to worry it's always a pleasant relaxing experience when you see hawks, eagles, owls, deers, fox and even the occasional bear if you're lucky.

Getting Around

The Metro North Train from NYC comes into Port Jervis, NY which is 25 minutes by cab to our location. Cab fee is approximately $30 to our location. Cabs are very reliable here but if ever a problem arises, we could accommodate you.

From the Port Authority in NYC, you can take the bus to Monticello (90 minute ride), and then catch a cab to Barryville (about 25 minutes).

Other Things to Note

Any questions feel free to contact us. We hope you enjoy your stay..;-)

Really wonderful, clean and every detail that you would want to feel cozy, warm and welcome included

  • 5 of 5

The owner and wife are warm, sincere and caring! We were so welcome including our dog. They were attentive to all our needs even though the cabin had every single element that is needed to make your stay just relaxing.

It was clean, cozy and the owners and their dog Cody just amazing to be around. Great cabin and would highly recommend it to anyone that is a couple/s or family.

Thanks guys for your welcoming hospitality. We will be there again and again..P.S The pictures do not do justice to your place.

Peaceful and cozy

We very much enjoyed our stay. Shaune was so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Although his house is on the same property, he gave us complete privacy. The cabin is rustic but cozy.

Nice and comfy. Away from it all!

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was wonderful. The place feels comfortable and cozy. The owner is welcoming and nice. I would say it needs a bit of repair and cleaning if someone is staying for a long period. But for a night or two it was great and we stay here again if we came to the area in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for visiting Abdullah and I'm glad you, your wife and friends enjoyed your stay. Also you were able to enjoy the winter wonderland affect since you arrived in the middle of a snow storm....:-) Yes the place is definitely a work in progress as it's a rustic cabin built in 1936. There are many upgrades though such as central heating/newly remodeled bathroom, extra large hot water heater, antique furnishings, firepit, etc....We also make it a point to deliver a clean cabin which we did but since we had a same day check out and your request for an early check in time we had much less time than normal to prepare for arrival. Thank you and we look forward to having you in the future.

Very friendly; cabin is cozy and peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

Owner is very friendly and helpful! Cabin is rustic and cozy, and very peaceful. Saw some deers early on, but i think I scared them away! Firepit was fun, and bbqing was great, although starting a fire was a hassle, which a chimney starter would easily solve (or use dry leaves during fall). 50 min. drive from Bushkills falls, which is where we went after. Great place to go to escape the city.

Owner's Response: We enjoyed having you and look forward to having you back. This area which borders NY, PA & NJ is undergoing a kind of renaissance. Port Jervis is about 20 minutes away from Barryville and has recently seen much of its historical downtown being restored with many new shops and restaurants. Much of the beauty of this area has also attracted a large artist community which calls this area their home. The shop we created is new and while we are carrying antiques we also are looking to carry some locally sourced provisions in the future. The area is home to many antique, artisan and gift shops. Also in Honesdale, PA , just 25 minutes north of Barryville is home to the largest Salvation Army Family Store in the northeastern U.S. The savings are amazing!

Perfect for a long weekend getaway, with lots of outdoor activities and restaraunts nearby.

  • 5 of 5

My wife, newborn daughter, 3 year old dog, and I stayed here for 4 nights in July. The property is huge, with a creek that runs through the forest. My dog loved running around the adjacent field and down to the creek. There is also a patio and fire pit. Julio was very accommodating, providing us with all the firewood and tools requested and was available immediately if we had any questions or need of anything additional. The house itself had a lot of room and has an a/c unit to keep it cool. There were multiple tvs and a collection of hundreds of dvds and movies to watch, as well as satellite cable. They also had very fast wifi which was great because the area in general doesn't have much cell service. Overall the property really had everything you'd want if you are looking to getaway and spend some time in a cabin in the woods, without the negatives of camping in a tent.

The town itself has a bunch of reataraunts which we tried many of. We also spent one of the days fishing on the Delaware river. The bait and tackle store nearby has everything needed to get a rod and go fishing, along with some great owners who provided their insight on where to fish. Additionally, we went hiking on nearby trails all the days we stayed here. There are tons of trails available. There are also many places to rent canoes or rafts very close to the cabin. We also visited the nearby Shrewd Fox Brewery which I highly recommend.

We had an amazing time getting away from the city life and spending time out in Barryville. Thanks so much Julio!
