To enjoy your stay at Casa Matilda means to be surrounded by a very nice, peaceful view. All around you may see the hills of the vineyards of famous wine ' Dogliani Docg'. It is perfect for the spring and summer holiday. For our guests there are many spaces outside the house: pergola, garden, solarium, park for the children, a big park where you can make long walks. It is excellent in autumn as well. Enjoy the vintage time and discover our regional best food and beverage such as ‘Alba’ truffle for example. Our family will be very pleasant to welcome our guests with a product of the 'Bottega' (food shop) as wine, jams, fruit juice, fruits in syrup, tomato puree and other speciality goods. All that products are made by us, simply following our grandmother's recipe, without chemicals preservatives, food dyes and thickener. Casa Matilda is just few minutes far from the centre of town and 80 km far from the sea, at 40 km far from the mountains and just at 60 km far from Turin.
Facilities: In Dogliani there are many very interesting typical restaurant, cinemas, supermarkets, shops, public library. During all the year Dogliani organize different village festival, food fairs, and little markets. From April to December, during the first and third Suturday in the main square ther's a very nice Farmer Market.
Extra info: In the apartment our guests will find detailed extra information sheets (including the use of the laundry).
During the summer it's possible to organize the wine tasting (with or without typical products) under the pergola or in the cellar. The guest of Casa Matilda may buy the wine or our other typical products in the 'Bottega'.
In a world full of stress taken home from work, elusive lifes which pass from day to day in an already insustainable way, we decided uppon a definite and ventured decision.
Over the years we had enriched ourselves with experiences and gained diverse competences and knowledge, which had made us feel wise enough to decide what to do with our lifes, in a personal and professional sense.
Due to our love for nature and the countryside, which partly constitutes our origins, we decided to have our own farm, consisting in an orchard, a vegetable garden and a vineyard, which are all managed in a natural and transparent way
Anna Garneri purchased this apartment in 2008
In essense, we have connected our wish to work in a more humane and “natural” environment with our desire to start a family in a healthy and genuine place. It is from this concept of family, root of our motivations, that gave birth to Matilda and Federico. It is to them who we dedicate our project.
Our hospitality is like a pure sacrifice of ourselves. We want our Home to be open to the friends who will share with us our zest for a good, clean and fair life
CasaMatilda is a really farm, where we produce organic fruits and vegetables. From every where in the house our guest may appreciate the wonderfull panoramic view of the Langhe hills.
Every window looks like as a painting!
Casa Matilda is located in the outskirts of Dogliani, a village very well known for its Dolcetto, one of the fine wines of Piedmont. The place is surrounded by vines in a hilly area of great beauty. There are very few places situated so well for those requiring peace, tranquility, and an immersion in nature.
The owners of Casa Matilda, Anna and Fabio Garcia, are very accommodating people. They have build Casa Matilda with much thought given to the visitors' pleasure, and they have been very helpful to us in various occasions. The rooms are large and spotless. The views are superb. The amenities are first class, except for the rooms lighting, which was rather suboptimal.in the evening
I heartily recommend Casa Matilda for a vacation in the heart of beautiful Piedmont.
What can one say , This is one very nice place and what ones sees on their website tells it all with a lot more , Stunning views , lovely large apartment with Anna & Fabio really nice friendly people and not forgetting their children and cats.
We arrived on the Saturday at 10pm in pouring rain and Anna was there to meet us with a bottle of wine , homemade cake and fruit juices plus some milk as we english like our tea !
The next morning when we looked out of the apartment , The views were stunning.
Over the course of our week , we visited the local towns of Ceva , Mondovi , Carru , Barolo , La Morra and our favourite was Alba which has some stunning shops.
Dogliani itself is a few mins drive from the Casa and is one friendly place with some nice bars and shops.
We bought some red wine in a Aldi type shop for 2 euros a bottle and this was good plus the beer in 660ml bottle was around 1.15 euro.
Just to sum up , If we were to return to the Piedmont area , We would of course stay here.
The only suggestion I would make is "Please have a kettle" other than that 10/10
We stayed with our two small children in one of the apartments at Casa Matilda for 10 days and we had such a great experience there. The farmhouse is in a beautiful location on the hills just above Dogliani (less than 5 minutes away by car). The owners make you feel at home but each apartment has privacy and you do not feel too close to the other guests. The apartment itself was well furnished, comfortable and very clean. The grounds have several nice sitting areas, both shady and sunny, and there is much to explore near and far from this location. We enjoyed being near enough to the heart of Le Langhe and its hill towns, restaurants and vineyards, but we also enjoyed exploring the further reaches of Cuneo province from this base. This is a wonderful place for families and the owners and their children will make you all feel very welcome here. Highly recommended. We hope to return here.
The views are absolutely breathtaking! The flat itself is spacious, comfortable and thoughtfully equipped, and the hosts were pleasant and helpful. It's a great place to stay with children, with lots of space, the hosts' children to play with, and plenty of fun things to do, like play with the farm cats, go on the swings, and so on. It was lovely to arrive to homemade treats and wine. The weather was very hot, so we mostly did car trips, but we did walk into Dogliani by way of the trails on one occasion, and we also ate well in the surrounding area. The flat is very well placed for exploring the countryside. The only thing that would have greatly improved our enjoyment would be screens on the windows, as the mosquitoes were unpleasantly hungry and made it hard to sleep, so I would suggest that as a consideration in future. In the meantime, bring bug spray in the summer months!
This wonderful home away from home is situated in the vineyards overlooking the beautiful town of Dogliani. We were greeted with warm smiles by Anna, Federico and Matilda (and later Fabio) and shown to our beautiful apartment which was perfectly sized for the four of us (2 couples). A gift of their own wine as well as a jar of their apple cream sauce was a great touch and much appreciated. The apartment is beautifully decorated and furnished and very comfortable. We stayed over during a very hot week in Piemonte, and so walks to town were not practical but we spent many evenings sitting on the large terrace enjoy the panoramic view. We would certainly recommend Casa Matilda to anyone wanting a quiet comfortable setting within easy reach of mot sites in Piemone.
My family stayed at the charming Casa Matilda from 4 October 2011 till 12 October 2011. Our hosts, Fabio and Anna, were extremely friendly and helpful. Apart from helping us with restaurant recommendations and bookings, Fabio and Anna had kindly allowed us to borrow their computer for internet access. My 2 girls got along very well with Fabio's and Anna's kids, Matilda and Federco, and had lots of fun playing on the swing. They really liked the beautifully baked chocolate based pear-lined cake that Anna had prepared to welcome our arrival. The apartment was beautifully maintained and very clean and was big enough to accommodate 6 persons. It is located on a little hill just above the town of Dogliani and overlooks the beautiful town and the surrounding plains. A 20-minute drive will bring the wine lovers to the fantastic Barolo region with its numerous hill towns . My family will definitely be back at Casa Matilda when we next return to Piedmont.
Staying in 'CasaMatilda' means having many different attractions all around: beautiful shopping centre in Alba, 25 km away, mountain bike and trekking tour near the house, or for a very interesting cultural experience, you may to go to Turin, the Piedmont's capital, very rich in museums, churches, monuments etc.
