My family vacationed each summer at OBX from 90-99 and then my wife was taken by cancer in late 02. I purchased a condo in Sect. F (03) and sold it 04 to buy present home. My current wife Ginger and I love our home and the Outer Banks. We try to improve our home a little each year to make it more comfortable for our guests. We live in Delaware, OH, and get to use our home 5-6 weeks a year. Because we specialize in renting to young groups our home is booked every week from mid-May thru August. Book early and try our off season weeks and shoulder weeks for some really good discounts.
Alan Kochheiser purchased this house in 2004
It was a good buy at the time and we took it from a 3 bd, 2.5 baths to 6 bd, 4 full baths, 2 halfs, and a 12 X 24 game room and added a hot tub. We had a lot of fun designing the new addition in 2005 and it makes for a fun home. It is also located in a neighborhood that is all residential, but across the road from a great golf course and within 2 miles of many wonderful shops, restaurants, grocery stores, unique businesses, and a movie theater.
Alan enjoys running events in the Outer Banks. In the fall there is the OBX Marathon/Half Marathon. During the summer months they have many activities scheduled at the Whalehead Club (5 miles North) and many are free.
We just added new porcelain tile to the kitchen area and Pergo laminate flooring in the dining room and great room area. It looks fantastic and adds a lot of class to our home. We added new kitchen appliances in the spring of 2009.
Can't recommend this place highly enough. Alan was responsive and very pleasant to work with, the property was well maintained and had everything one could possibly want. The location is great no matter what type of beach vacation you want with plenty of different activities around.
We joined extended family for our first beach vacation. We found his house online. The rest of the siblings stayed in a $25k place three miles away on the beach, where we spent our days and early evenings, and we simply needed a house (for 18 people incl. small children) for sleeping, eating breakfast and dinner, and using as a base. This suited us well, especially the price. The house was functional but not fancy. Everything electric worked fine. It was situated well for groceries, restaurants etc. The best part was working with Alan, a complete gentleman. The process was easy and straightforward. BTW visit Wright Brothers National Memorial, one of the most stirring we have seen.
Spending our spring break here on our senior year of college was amazing. The house is beautiful and easily accommodated our group of 10. Alan made the entire process a breeze and was amazing to work with. The beach was super close and the grocery stores are right down the street. Our favorite part of the stay was definitely utilizing the hot tub. Our week here was one we will always remember and was a great way for us to end our college careers. We will definitely be returning in the future.
When we pulled up to the property, we more more than excited. When we left, we were more than satisfied with our stay. Alan made the process easy and was a truly great communicator. Any questions we had, he was sure to be attentive and helpful. The location was great! The beach is a quick three minute walk, as is Harris Teeter and Duck Donuts! Although the pool was closed for our visit, we still utilized the area for grilling, playing corn hole (we brought) and listening to music. All in all after a week, each of the 14 in the group now calls this getaway our second home.
A dozen college graduates in one big house ... needless to say, we had an amazing time! Alan was so helpful in the leasing process, which is usually difficult or impossible for vacation-goers under 25 years old. Not only was there plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, it was also perfectly located near all of our necessities. We went to Harris Teeter nearly daily (walking distance) and woke up every morning to stroll down to the beach. After spending the day there (beautiful, clean, peaceful), we grilled or went out to eat and then spent the evening in the backyard pool and hot tub! Karaoke night at the local bar was so much fun, and the cab is $15 flat rate. We had a fantastic post-graduation trip, but I could also see this being the perfect vacation for a big family.
I rented this house with twelve other friends and we had a great time. It comfortably fit all thirteen of us so we could all have our own space, and the top floor was a great place for everyone to get together. The pool/hot tub area was also a great place for lunch and to socialize. Nothing extravagant, but just what we needed. Very convenient location- close to the beach and a short walk from the grocery store.
The owner is clear and easy to work with. We received our security deposit promptly. Overall a great and hassle-free experience. Would definitely rent again!
