A delightful character stone cottage which was formerly two, spacious and light
About Mr Twyford
We are a family who enjoy the cottage every year and live in West Sussex. We fell in love with the surrounding area and Dorset many years ago when our eldest boy Joe was just 2 years old and quite poorly, one break we brought him down here and have been coming back ever since. As you can see he's quite well now! It's grown into a place that not only we enjoy but for everyone who comes here and we are constantly reminded by all who have stayed what a lovely cottage and area it is.
Mr Twyford purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Mr Twyford chose Dorset
Crosstrees Farm cottage is a very characterful stone cottage but we were massively attracted to it because as well as having the old world charm it is also quite spacious and light. It enjoys lovely views from the rear of the house out towards the stunning Bride Valley and glimpses of the sea. It has a lovely open and spacious living room with a wood burning stove and just a generally great feel. It enjoys a private garden where it is lovely to sit out on and enjoy the southerly aspect and listen to the birds singing. We really feel it is like a home from home and this is what we aim to give the feeling to all who stay.
What makes this Cottage unique
As mentioned above, it is both spacious and light and has a wood burning stove in an old inglenook fireplace. We are told the property was built around 1815 and therefore has lovely old thick stone walls and traditional cottage windows at the front. There are wonderful views from the rear bedrooms directly south over the Bride Valley. But as well as this it's location is fantastic, both close to the centre of the beautiful village and just a hop in the car to the beach and all the local amenities.

Easter in Dorset
Lovely peaceful cottage in village location, near play park. Loads of living space, well-equipped and good for family groups.
Lovely family country cottage within easy reach of a gorgeous coastline
The cottage is very spacious and well stocked, and had been set up with a lovely decorated christmas tree for our arrival. It is a wonderful base for exploring the beautiful coastline. We had all our family there for a week over Christmas, with 7 adults and both a baby and a dog, and the house was excellently set up for all of us. It feels like a lovely family home.
Fantastic stay in this cosy home, in a beautiful part of the country
A wonderful weekend spent in this delightful property. One day keeping the log burners stoked and staying cosy, out of the horrid weather. Within easy reach of Lyme Regis with lovely shops and cafes. The other a perfect base to set off and walk from Symondsbury to Colmers Hill, a long to Golden Cap and back along the coast. Stunning scenery, beautiful part of the country.
Crosstrees Farm Cottage is nestled within the beautiful Bride Valley, so called because of its famed beauty and location so close to the Jurassic Coast, the world heritage site which covers 95 miles of truly stunning coastline from East Devon to Dorset, with rocks recording 185 million years of the Earth's history. The cottage itself is in the quintessentially English village Litton Cheney, a picturesque village with a local Pub and a clear stream running though it. There are many lovely walks available along the Jurassic coastline and it is also close to the seaside village of Burton Bradstock and West Bay, more recently well known for its filming of the popular detective series "Broadchurch". There are many lovely public houses and restaurants around and it is generally a stunning rural area beautiful beaches and walks. In the nearby town of Bridport there are many nice and interesting shops as well as a local market held every Thursday and at weekends. The nearest beach, Hive Beach is only 4 km away and has a lovely and very popular beach Cafe and restaurant serving freshly caught fish from the local vicinity. This is truly a place where you can leave all the bustle of everyday life and enjoy some peace and tranquillity.
