My charming house is just a few steps above the famous Porto Rafael ‘piazzetta’ (little plaza). Porto Rafael was founded by the Spanish Count Rafael Neville in the 60s after having sailed in the crystal clear water of the Maddalena’s archipelago. He found the perfect place: a beautiful granite coastline full of self sown vegetation and many little beaches where the admiral Nelson dropped anchor in the 1800. My property has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a small living room as the main living area is the terrace where you find a large table and a singular nice kitchen. 30 steps far from the main house, I also have a studio, perfect for 2 person with kitchen and bathroom and a little terrace, where the guests can eat. The studio has an extra budget. Besides the ‘piazzetta’ and its beach, you can also walk to a couple of different beaches, perfect for families and children. Walking distance there is also a little lovely harbour where you can rent a rubber dinghy or organize tours to the archipelago’s beauties (Budelli Island and its ‘pink’ beach, Spargi Is., La Maddalena Is.
For your info, there is a mobil wifi with 5GB of traffic while in Sardinia there are not cable line; Sardinia is still a sauvage island of Italy and this is a part of its beauty but for this reason sometime the connection could be slow.

Porto Rafael is full of character and the apartment allows the most gorgeous view ☀️
We loved our stay in Sardinia! The weather, food and people were all great! The island is beautiful and car hire is essential to enjoy this island. Porto Rafael is full of character and is a great base for exploring the Costa Smerelda. There are a couple of small beaches within 5 minutes walking distance and a marina where you can hire a boat (call them to enquire if you are British as the guys at the marina don't speak English). Porto Rafael square is lovely with a restaurant which we didn't eat in as it was ridiculously overpriced and a cafe which opens late into the evening where we had mojitos a few times looking out to sea in the warm evenings. On the Saturday night when we were there, they had a DJ on the beach with everyone dancing in the square, amazing!! The supermarket is tiny and expensive but nearby Palau has a few where you can buy food at a reasonable price. The apartment is lovely and has the most spectacular view. We spent a lot of time on the terrace and the apartment had everything we needed. The only problem for us was that the pillows were hard and uncomfortable but this could be personal preference. Would definitely book again. Michela was brilliant from beginning to end and was able to recommend a nice restaurant in Palau and some beaches for us to visit. It was easy to contact her during the stay if required. We chartered a small boat with skipper (Blue Dream Sardinia) for the day which took us round the different islands and some lovely coves where we were able to snorkel. This was a brilliant day and worth the money! We visited 4 beaches, Porto Pollo (lots of windsurfers but nice), Liscia Ruja (long and flat with nice shallow water), Barca Bruciata beach (white but tiny stones which do not hurt your feet, great for snorkelling) and Spiaggia del Principe (Princes beach which is a 45 minute drive but powder white sands, amazing blue lagoon and lovely for snorkelling by the rocks - our favourite). Porto Cervo is worth a visit but pricey and the ferry from Palau to La Maddalena is a nice day out (€14 per person return). We ate out in Palau (10 minute drive) in the evenings and they have a nice evening market and street performers which we really enjoyed!
All in all a great apartment in a lovely location and a fantastic holiday. Would definitely come back!
I'm happy that you had good time in Porto Rafael and we hope to see you next year again
Our stay at Paula´s house was simply great!
Our stay at Paula´s house was simply great! near the clear sea, nice beach with only couple of persons! Restaurant, cafeteria and food shop near by. Great cafeteria Harrys bar, make sure to visit them for capuccino. Mario and his boat rental in 5 min walk small port is great. Make sure to rent one of his boats for 1 or 2 days. And one of the highlight is the viewing point up the hill (cca 10 min walk) where you can have excellent view during the day and specialy at night!
I definitely advice this house, would love to stay longer!
wow..thanks a lot..I 'm very happy you had great time...
see you next year :)
Perfect Holiday apartment!
My Husband and I and our three children enjoyed a fantastic week in Paola's apartment! It had a travel cot, high chair and everything we needed. The really beauty was the stunning view from the terrace, perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and take in the scent of the flowers. The location is great with a shop, cafe and beaches within 1/2 minutes walk, the host was very accommodating taking time to show us the local attractions which was really appreciated! I feel in love with Sardinia and can't wait to go back....
Great place - Porto Raphael. Very well situated house, very well equiped. Marvelous view from the terrace. Silence, only birds singing. Charming owner - Paola, very helpfull. Place worth to come again.
We have just returned from a one week holiday. We had a fantastic time. The terrace has the most wonderful view over the water, marina and sunset.
Good location . Near supermarket, restaurants and beaches.
The House is very well equipped; we did alot of cooking and we found everything we needed.
I would definitely go back and stay again!
A perfect holiday
What a great location! Our family (us and 3 kids) had a wonderful time there: we enjoyed cooking, eating, reading, playing games on the beautiful terrace with this great view. The beach just a few steps down was perfect for us to swim, sunbath, snorkeling and even windsurf. And we had 14 days of blue sky!
Only one small advise for the owner: we have missed a few more glasses and larger cups in the kitchen.
However we will for sure come back.....
Thank you very much for your wonderful words. First of all, I'm very happy you could find what you were looking for, after an entire year of job. I agree with you: Porto Rafael is a fantastic place. I've been going there since I was a kid and everythime It surprise me.
Thanks also for the info about what was lacking and I really hope to have you again in my house.
Porto Rafael is located at the extreme north-east of Sardinia, just in front of the very famous Archipelago’s Maddalena beauties (Budelli Island and its ‘pink’ beach, Spargi Island, La Maddalena Island, Caprera Island, so on). Palau, the nearest village, is at 3 km and there you can find information point, shops, bikes renter, get the ferry boat for La Maddalena, for Genoa (mainland) and organize tours for islands. At 20 minutes by car you can choose to be in very famous places of Costa Smeralda, like Porto Cervo or Porto Rotondo with their wonderful beaches, or in Porto Pollo (5 km of white beach) famous all over the world to lovers of wind and sports related (wind surfing, kite surfing, sailing) and where you can rent all the equipment; you can also riding horses on the beach. A large selection of farms where you can have local food in a charming contest is available very next to Porto Rafaell. Other Activities: kite surf
