About Stephen & Sarah Polacek
We currently live in Chester, Virginia with our two children. Stephen is active duty in the United States Army and works as a logistic officer. Our family truly enjoys the outdoors. Southern Oregon is one of our favorite places to spend time.
Stephen & Sarah Polacek purchased this House in 2011
Why Stephen & Sarah Polacek chose Josephine County
We both grew up in North Bend, along the Oregon coast. Together with our families, we spent our childhood summers camping and rafting the Rogue. As children, we would float by the homes along the side of the river and always dream about someday owning one of them. In 2011, we decided it was time to fulfill that dream and purchased the house from its original owner. We have spent the last few years remodeling it inside and out. The home is now a favorite gathering place for our family and friends. We are enjoying watching the next generation create memories at the River House and discovering the magic of the Rogue River. The home truly is our childhood dream come true and our favorite place to vacation. We are so happy to share the magic with you!
What makes this House unique
The property has a park like setting with large grassy areas with lots of trees. The riverfront is a beautiful thing to wake up to each day. Sitting on the deck and looking at it flow by is very peaceful. The deck also serves as a wildlife viewing area. There is a family of deer that will often stroll through the yard in the evening to head to the river to get a drink. Lots of squirrels, birds, and other critters to enjoy.

We spent 3 days at this woenderful place. There were 5 adults and 2 kids in this 3 bedroom and it was perfect we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other and none of the bed room walls are connected great for privacy. Beds are really comfortable and linens are so soft. The kitchen has all the utensils you need for cooking a great meal and for easy clean up. The back porch is great for bbq and playing games. They have a closet full of games. The river is amazing it is a steep trail down to get river access but worth the climb down and back. The location is great far enough away from town but not to far if you need something. I would love to revisit the river house and encourage anyone who is looking for a great river front place in grants pass to rent from Sara and Stephen responds quickly to questions via email.
If being away from traffic and the hustle and bustle is your goal this is the place. Clean and extra well appointed this home has it all. Nicely stocked pantry (spices.) Large fridge, glass cooktop, clean, modern bathrooms and a wonderful outdoor experience. No nasty carpets here, just easy clean laminate flooring. It is a drive to the nearest store/conveniences but hey that's what getting away means. We enjoyed our stay and would go again.

Beautiful River views
Beautiful River views on 3 acres with lots of walking room for the dog.
The river house is charming, right along the river (but far enough away with little kids!)
The river house is very cozy (but not small) and inviting. All of your kitchen needs are there (spices, Tupperware, pot and pans - the only thing we could not find was a cutting board, but I'm sure we just overlooked it). The trail down to the river is a bit steep, but I thought it allowed for nice separation between the house and being down at the river. A beautiful view from the kitchen! I loved the separate living spaces with tons of room to spread out and enjoy doing different activities inside and out. I hope we can go again (maybe in the summer) and stay for even longer. A very relaxing get away!
Sarah and Stephen were very responsive and friendly.
The house was really well maintained and clean. The location was peaceful with river flowing at the back and large front yard. We had a very relaxing time in this house.
Would definitely recommend this house.
