About Stephen & Sarah Polacek

We currently live in Ashland, Oregon with our two children. Stephen is active duty in the United States Army and works as a logistic officer. Our family enjoys the outdoors and Northwest life. Southern Oregon is our favorite place to spend time.

Stephen & Sarah Polacek purchased this house in 2011

Why Stephen & Sarah Polacek chose Southern Oregon

We both grew up in North Bend, along the Oregon coast. Together with our families, we spent our childhood summers camping and rafting the Rogue. As children we would float by the homes along the side of the river and always dream about someday owning one of them.

In 2011, we decided it was time to fulfill that dream and purchased the house from its original owner. We have spent the last few years remodeling it inside and out. The home is now a favorite gathering place for our family and friends. We are enjoying watching the next generation create memories at the River House and discovering the magic of the Rogue River. The home truly is our childhood dream come true and our favorite place to vacation. We are so happy to share the magic with you!

What makes this house unique

The property has a park like setting with large grassy areas with lots of trees. The riverfront is a beautiful thing to wake up to each day. Sitting on the deck and looking at it flow by is very peaceful. The deck also serves as a wildlife viewing area. There is a family of deer that will often stroll through the yard in the evening to head to the river to get a drink. Lots of squirrels, birds, and other critters to enjoy.

Great spot on the river!

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome week stay at the beautiful river house outside of Grants Pass. The house is totally stocked with everything you need and is located on a nice stretch of the river. You can sit on the huge deck and watch boats go by and watch the wildlife wander by in the mornings and evenings. We had a relaxing time and want to thank Stephen and Sarah for opening up their wonderful house to us! We will definitely be back!

Thanks again,

Rick and Denise Nannen

Each night when we returned, we knew that we would come home to a clean, peaceful place that had something if we forgot. Like an extra small tube of toothpaste. Thank you!

We moved on to our next few stays at hotels throughout Oregon and wished that we booked our entire vacation right there at this house.

Perfect fit for us and our needs

  • 5 of 5

We found ourselves in Oregon during a very unusual heat wave with temperatures reaching 100 degrees so we appreciated all the owners attempts to ensure the most comfortable stay for us given the situation. The house was beautiful inside and out. Very well maintained and fully stocked with essentials in all the rooms. We also appreciated the availability of WiFi as my son was had an online summer class that he was taking so having the WiFi allowed him to get his studies done every morning. One draw back was the access to the Rogue River. It was a bit more difficult than we expected so my dad, who is 70 years old, was not able to make his way down the path to fish as it was too steep for him. However, given high temperatures, I'm not sure how much fishing we would have been able to do. All in all, weather and path to the river aside, I would recommend this house to anyone and if we are fortunate to make our way back to this area in the future, this home will be on the top of our list for renting.

Amazing, more than expected!

  • 5 of 5

This trip we planned was a rather important one and this house made us feel more comfortable than any place we have ever stayed at. Very well stocked, comfy beds, gorgeous views, wildlife... and amazingly quiet. We were a group of six; my husband, daughter and I along with my brother, his wife and son. The layout of this house allowed for both privacy and space to relax together, and the kids loved it. There are toys, games, movies and plenty of space to run around. The week we stayed was rather hot, reaching 97 degrees, the AC's in the house were effective and the cold river was refreshing! I want to thank Sarah for going above and beyond with putting some additional things out for us that made this stay even better. We will be doing it again next year!
