About Stephen & Sarah Polacek

We currently live in Ashland, Oregon with our two children. Stephen is active duty in the United States Army and works as a logistic officer. Our family enjoys the outdoors and Northwest life. Southern Oregon is our favorite place to spend time.

Stephen & Sarah Polacek purchased this house in 2011

Why Stephen & Sarah Polacek chose Southern Oregon

We both grew up in North Bend, along the Oregon coast. Together with our families, we spent our childhood summers camping and rafting the Rogue. As children we would float by the homes along the side of the river and always dream about someday owning one of them.

In 2011, we decided it was time to fulfill that dream and purchased the house from its original owner. We have spent the last few years remodeling it inside and out. The home is now a favorite gathering place for our family and friends. We are enjoying watching the next generation create memories at the River House and discovering the magic of the Rogue River. The home truly is our childhood dream come true and our favorite place to vacation. We are so happy to share the magic with you!

What makes this house unique

The property has a park like setting with large grassy areas with lots of trees. The riverfront is a beautiful thing to wake up to each day. Sitting on the deck and looking at it flow by is very peaceful. The deck also serves as a wildlife viewing area. There is a family of deer that will often stroll through the yard in the evening to head to the river to get a drink. Lots of squirrels, birds, and other critters to enjoy.

Absolutely Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This is the 3rd weekend we have stayed at River House for my husband's birthday. This house has everything you could possibly want in a rental. The house is so well maintained and as my sister-in-law said, "They even have Kleenex in every room." Right on the Rogue River, this is a peaceful respite from our daily lives and we so appreciate the opportunity of coming here. The kitchen is well stocked with every need, deck overlooking the river, and this year we were treated to huge, wonderful snowflakes! What a winter wonderland in March!!! These made our stay even more special. Thank you Stephen and Sarah for providing this gracious spot to relax and enjoy ourselves.

A Wonderful Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Stephen and Sarah have a wonderful home in a fantastic setting. The house was immaculately clean and comfortable and has every amenity a person could want. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were. The view of the Rogue River from the deck is amazing. We WILL be returning for years to come.

A nice clean little getaway

  • 5 of 5

I came with my wife, our four kids, my sister and one of her kids. We were in GP for a family reunion. This is a nice clean home in a beautiful spot. There are some roll away beds if you have a lot of kiddos like us, so that was nice. It's quiet and peaceful. A really great view of the Rogue River. It's a good fifteen minutes from town, so if you're doing something in Grants Pass you have to sort of plan your trips so your not running back and forth too much... I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Perfect Home For A Gathering

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a midway point between our home in Washington and our friends' home in California to meet for a long weekend to celebrate our November birthdays. This home was just PERFECT for our small group of 2 couples but would have been awesome for 6 people as well as there are 2 king beds and 1 queen bed and they are all REALLY comfy! If you like fishing, this would be a great home as you are right on the water. We, however, skipped the fishing as were more into exploring the area, doing a little hiking, wine tasting and finding great eating establishments. Sarah, the owner, is AMAZING! Not only has she set the house up to take care of all your needs (lots of towels, basic kitchen needs, paper towels, TP and water), but she went out of her way to help us find great local wineries and even a wonderful place to get a delicious birthday cake, leaving a wonderful welcome note on the counter with all the info we could hope for! The house is simple but super clean, warm and inviting. The men really loved the TV room (an important football game was on that weekend), but we also enjoyed the opened concept kitchen/dining/living area where we were able to play games (they have a ton of games available), or just listen to music and enjoy each other's company. I highly recommend this home, mostly because Sarah is sooooo accommodating and it fit our needs so well. Thanks for everything, Sarah! By the way: the best restaurant in town was The Twisted Cork! Yum!

The place was wonderful. We had family from CA, TX & CO who visited in this terrific home.

  • 5 of 5

We had sibling from 4 states that were able to enjoy all the comforts of home. The beds were just TOO COMFORTABLE, so it made it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. The home is well stocked with everything we needed to just spend time together. I'll go back again! My brother in law said if he could stay in this house he would move from Colorado and stay here.

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic Home. More then met our expectations. Well maintained home with all the amenities one would need or desire. Loved taking the back roads to Grants Pass such scenic land.

The only RX: please consider making access to the beach a little easier for us who are in our senior years. We were not able to take advantage of your pretty beach area.

Overall we would give it a five star rating !!!!!
