This house is affordable, in a great location, and well maintained. We had a great stay. The owner couldn't be nicer or more responsive to requests for information. We had an awesome stay and I would definitely rent this house again.
Clean and Neat!
the master on first floor on the smaller side, rest okay.
Clean, air conditioned cottage with most of the basics. Beds below average with outdated mattresses. Pillows comfortable. Nice TV's. No icemaker, only ice trays. Had to purchase toilet paper and tissue. No towels provided. Washer and dryer updated and worked well. Owner, Raymond easy to reach and accommodating. Located 4 blocks from the beach with grocery nearby. We stayed 4 nights, which was perfect given the mattress situation. Plenty of room for 5 adults and 1 child. 3 bathrooms and 4 TV's with cable and Internet. BBQ and charcoal provided.
The accommodations were perfect for our group, and outside of buying our food, there was little we'd needed to purchase. The distance to the beach is reasonable but I'd recommend a beach cart for the brief travel time. Overall, a darling cottage and spacious kitchen. It was tidy and well maintained. We'll be looking for it again next year.
Thank you for the opportunity to experience the beach for more than just a day visit!
Overall this was a rather strange experience. Prior to our trip we had several phone conversations with the owner, always emphasizing how he kept the rental deposit for a host of different reasons. Turning off the router. Plugging the drains with sand, etc. After no response and 30 days had passed, we had to contact Home Away to get our deposit refunded.
The property was okay. We were close to the beach. We were a bit disappointed that the balcony faced the street with a view of the back side of several stores and parking lots. Going from the downstairs bedrooms to upstairs where the kitchen and living room were located does require going outside. The furniture was typical beach type furniture. I have to say the sheets were really nice and soft. The kitchen and living room area was roomy, and there were plenty of pots and pans. The appliances were new, but hardly the $29,000 remodel the owner kept talking about. The flooring upstairs was a gray wood laminate, which disguised the dirt, as the kids feet were black our first night there. So apparently the cleaning crew did not see a need to wash the floors. One of the downstairs bedrooms was moldy, so no one slept there.
We were told repeatedly that we must use the outdoor shower after going to the beach, which we did. But that was after we hosed it down and swept out the decayed plant matter, sand and general black gunk that had accumulated there. There was no drain, so the water just ran into the grass. And the water lines going to that shower were about the size that you run into the ice maker on your refrigerator, so there was no water flow/pressure to effectively rinse off the sand. And the door did not close on the shower closet, so someone had to hold it shut. That first night, the drain in the upstairs hall bath ran very slow and we called the owner to let him know. He asked us to pour some bleach that he had in the laundry room down the drain to see if it would help. At this time he started in with his shtick about the sand, and I informed him that the drain had an obvious build up of black gunk that the bleach did not dissolve.
The barbeque grill was one of those park models, which are normally pretty indestructible. Apparently this had been there for many years, as when the guys went to sweep out the ashes, it just crumbled from decay. So the grate liners we bought were a waste of money as the grill was not usable.
