This LUXURY BEACHFRONT home is located on the best surfing beach in Costa Rica! In fact, this home is so close to the beach ,you can hear and see the spectacular sight of these sought out waves crashing on the beach. The beach is so close to the house that opportunity awaits for you to enjoy daily strolls or jogs on this beautiful and clean beach. From the new upper deck, you can relax and enjoy the view for miles and witness breath-taking sunsets each evening. Spend time relaxing by our new swimming pool while you enjoy watching the waves crash on the beach.

This air conditioned home is four years old and approximately 3100 square feet. It is located in a new-gated development with security. A safe is also available in the house to store your valuable possessions.

The floor plan is large and open. There are four bedrooms and three and a half baths. The master bedroom has a king bed. The second master bedroom has a king bed and the third and fourth bedrooms each have two twin beds. For your convenience, there is also a washer and dryer located in the home.

The kitchen is spacious and includes a large side-by-side refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, etc. There is plenty of room to sit at the granite counter in the kitchen. HANDICAPPED FRIENDLY. The house and yard are handicap friendly. There are no steps. The doors and hallways are wide. For added convenience, there is a large shower.

Hermosa Beach, where this home is located, is a world-class surfing beach that hosts international competitions. Since the waves are enormous, surfers from all over the world seek out this beach everyday. Even if you don't surf, it is very entertaining to watch the waves and the surfers.

Located at the Northern end of the beach, there are several 'Beach Boy' style bars and restaurants. You can relax, watch the surfers, and enjoy the sunset.

At the southern end of the beach is a new turtle preserve. During the season that the turtles come and lay their eggs, volunteers come help move the eggs to a safe place. The volunteers take care of the eggs until they hatch.

If you are a beginner surfer, you will enjoy JACO Beach, which is located to the north only one and a half miles. The waves here are milder. In addition, you will discover a wide assortment of restaurants, shopping, ATM/banking, internet cafes, nightclubs, bakery, pharmacy, medical services, churches, etc. in this town.

Wildlife can be discovered everywhere. Iguanas and geckos can be seen all around. For those with an adventuresome side, crocodile safaris are also available. If you stop by the Crocodile bridge, you can see crocodiles.

We highly recommend for you to experience a guided Canopy tour! You are hooked up to a cable with the safety of a harness. As you travel along the zip line, you go from one tree platform to the next. It is quite a thrill!

In addition, you can further experience Costa Rica by bird watching, sea kayaking, white water rafting, visit national parks, or relax in the hot spring pools located by the volcano.

To help you get settled in for your stay, we have a wonderful Hospitality professional to greet you for your check in and provide a customized welcome basket tailored to your needs. About Susan Kilsdonk

My husband and I are farmers in California. He has relatives living in Costa Rica. We would often go and visit and fell in love with this house on one of our visits. I am not normally a ocean type person, but fell in love with this area.

Susan Kilsdonk purchased this house in 2005

Why Susan Kilsdonk chose Puntarenas

We have been in many different parts of Costa Rica. Farther north gets very dry (hills brown) during the dry season. Farther south is more humid. This area is pretty much green year around like you would expect when you go to the tropics. The norther Tamarindo area was very disapointing to us being very dry and dusty.

What makes this house unique

Our house is located far enough away from the noise and busy trafic, but close enough to go in for dinner or shopping for what ever you need. Walk across the yard and walk out to a beautiful beach that goes for miles.

Privacy on the Beach. Hard to find today.

If you want to get away from the hoards of people and you don't need the high end hotel, then you have found your perfect spot. The ocean is right across a small road that we spent every sunset. The pool is new and always clean. Yard is private with only one other house on the one side. The house was older but clean and everything worked. Thought we would eat out more but once we got here we never wanted to leave to go out to eat. There was a barbecue and a kitchen so we ate in mostly. Long walks on the almost secluded beach were incredible. Walked for breakfast to Hermosa a couple of times. Drove to Jaco for groceries but could not wait to get back to the house. Owner and manager were great. Had a couple problems and they were right there to help. I gave this a five star because when we come back to Costa Rica will stay here. That says it all.

I thought the house was excellent. On the beach and close to jaco. All 6 of us were happy with the rooms. Great air conditioning. Plenty of wildlife at the house with a pair of macaw parrots that visited daily which was cool to see and iguanas everywhere. Owner provides a helpful book filled with recommended activities that was helpful. Security on grounds which made us feel good.

It was not inhabitable

  • 1 of 5

This house was so sub par that we had to leave the house and rent a hotel for the rest of our stay. The towels were like sand paper and very old. The sheets were stained as if there was urine on them. The pillows were stained and disgusting. The quilts were filthy and never been washed. You could not flush toilet paper and the tub would not hold water and the shower would not work. The kitchen door had a gaping hole that we had to fill with paper towels so bugs would not come in. There was no one to meet us and the house was not ready for us. When we called the owner to get someone there when he came he was totally unhelpful. When we found the condition of the beds the owner told us when we called her it was not her problem and we should contact the property manager. It was too late to leave that night so we had to sleep there but she did refund us the money of the days we didn't stay. I have never experienced anything so horrible. The good news is we did find the Crocs hotel in Jaco that was amazing. Also the location of the house leaves a lot to be desired.

Owner's Response: These 8 people who were renting for 3 nights last month started out by asking me a couple of days before their arrival, "What time are we going to be served breakfast?" I responded that you are renting a 4 bedroom house. You will need to stop and pick up food to prepare yourself. They ended up in the Crocs hotel that is a 5 star casino resort built in a Las Vegas style. Nothing like the quiet beachfront home that they were renting from me. When my management person greeted them shortly after they arrived (lock box on front door) they were complaining about the location. He thought they wanted to be closer to all the action in Jaco, not the peaceful beach where my house is located. He said they exaggerated and were looking for any excuse to get their money back so they could move to Jaco where the action was. I refunded the 2 un used nights since they were so unhappy there. I could not believe their complaints. I have been getting so many emails from renters saying how they loved the house and location. This location was just not what they wanted. I take serious any complaints from renters. Sometimes that is the only way i know something needs to be changed. I asked the management to check all bedding and towels. There were some they said were looking a little less than our high standards. So i said to replace. The renters had ignored all the new pillows that were still in the closet from 2 months ago. The crack in the wooden kitchen door was even sealed. It has been a crack, not a gaping hole for years. Not a threat for bugs either. The house is sprayed on a regular bases. The toilet paper issue is the same all over the country. There are signs in all bathrooms all over the country "please do not put toilet paper in the toilets" You will see these signs in the airport bathrooms, all hotels and rental places and every restaurant. Shower works fine, just pull out on the handle. I could go on, but there was nothing i could do to make this group of 8 adults happy. They came in with some unrealistic expectations. We have fixed everything that could be fixed based on their complaints. The current renters seem to be very happy with the house. Please dont let one unrealistic review deter you from renting this beautiful home.

WOW!!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of six and always rent a home when we travel. Former reviewers have mentioned the close proximity to the beach, and the home is literally across a very narrow road from the beach. We had everything needed to make our stay feel as if we were at our own home. The security staff is first rate, the grounds were always keep clean, as was the house. If you are looking to stay in Playa Hermosa, this is the perfect home, just wear shoes on the beach as the black sand can become very hot.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a family vacation in Costa Rica and looked at so many places, we chose this home just outside of the town Jaco in Playa Hermosa. The owner made this stay so easy for us, from renting a car agency that pick us up at the San Jose Airport, then drove us to Jaco,.She had the Property Manager meet us at the house to go over our needs to make our vacation comfortable, safe and most of all fun,

This beautiful home greeted us as we made our way to the front door, the landscape was pristine filled with color, fragrant flowers and fruited plants. We went directly to the backyard ( ocean lovers) to see how close the ocean truly was, we were so pleased to see it was as the owner showed in the pics and stated, literally just STEPS from the yard.

We spent our mornings and early evenings enjoying this home, it's pool and grounds. Each day we took walks along the beach that was about a mile long, with no other people accept for surfers who were fun to watch and snap photos of. Then we would end up at the local bar and restaurant for great food and drinks to end our day.

This home was comfortable, roomy and laid our for privacy. We were a group of 5 adults, we were never in each others way. It had 3.5 baths and 4 bedrooms which was great for our needs. Each room had it's own air conditioner and on those muggy nights it was easy to sleep.

We were so close to Jaco, it was easy to go into town to shop for treasures, food and plan our excursions with the Property Manager. This home was perfect to see all that Costa Rica has to offer. The house is centered between all the places we wanted to see which made it easy to go north or south because we were just off the highway on a secluded road.

I am an owner of a home listed on VRBO, I have rented many home from other VRBO owners, and this home was a treasure. We are a family who doesn't want to sit and be waited on hand and foot, we want to experience the flavor and to feel the life style that exists around us in new places. This home gives you the ability to slip into a Costa Rican life style with ease. This home is a great place for your vacation, the comfort of a home and the ability see a new area without time constraints, but not roughing it. A place, a home we would gladly come back to if we choose this country again.

A memorable Vacation.

Thank you Susan,
