San Diego County House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

This charming beach bungalow was built in 1942 and it resides in a soulful tropical yard in the best neighborhood of Encinitas. The yard and home speak of relaxation but the ocean beckons. The living and dining areas are open and accommodate a family gathering comfortably. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed with closet and plenty of storage. There is also a third bdrm. with a comfy queen sleeper sofa.

The remodeled galley kitchen is a chef's dream with granite counters, stainless appliances, six burner gas stove and complete drawer of spices for gourmets. The dining area seats 8 comfortably and a trifold door opens onto the deck overlooking a large tropical yard which is incorporated into the living area. There is a BBQ and outdoor shower on the side patio, and parking is on the street. The property is shared with the constant gardener and hubby who live in the cottage at the back of the large yard, they are very friendly and helpful if needed.

Comfortable, Quiet Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at Wendy and Paul's lovely home with my grandchildren. We had a great time. Wendy and Paul were so pleasant and accommodating. They were available to answer questions about the area and help when I had a technical glitch with a DVD. The house is comfortable with a beautiful garden and is in a quiet neighborhood. It is only blocks away from both Moonlight Beach and Stone Steps. It was easy for us to walk to either beach. There also is a nice lookout area only a block away. We walked there in the mornings just to check out the waves. We saw dolphins off shore one morning. The outside shower with both hot and cold water was great for cleaning up the grandkids at the end of the day. We could also walk to a good sandwich shop, a pizzeria, and a great ice cream place. Sand toys, chairs, and boogie boards are all there as well as everything we needed in the kitchen. It was a wonderful vacation. We plan to go there again next summer.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This charming bungalow was exactly what we were looking for. So relaxing and comfortable. The garden was beautiful and we enjoyed the deck with the folding door from the dining area. The location was a pleasant short walk to restaurants and the beach. Everything we needed for cooking or grilling was at our fingertips. Wendy and Paul were so pleasant and unobtrusive. I would recommend this lovely property highly!!

This property was perfect for our family of 4 and would have been comfortable for up to 6 people.

We really enjoyed the house and hospitality that Wendy and Paul provided for us while we stayed. The Encinitas/Leucadia community was very relaxing and centrally located in the greater San Diego area. Moonlight Beach was within close walking distance which was convenient. Also, the rental property itself was very comfortable, clean, and inviting! We definitely would stay here again!!

Immaculate, comfortable Bungalow in Encinitas, Ca. with a perfect location and onsite owners.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I came from AZ and were joined by friends from NY to share a wonderful week in Encinitas and So. Ca. We all agreed that this charming Bungalow and owners Wendy and Paul far exceeded our expectations. We had 7 days of pure relaxation enjoying the morning sun, breakfast on the deck overlooking the beautiful yard where we played bocce ball while listening to the trickling sounds of the fountain and enjoying the beauty of all the flowers and yard art that have been in place for decades. You quickly sense the pride the owners have for their property and we were fortunate to share it for our brief reunion. The location is superb with easy walks to the beaches, train station (Coaster to San Diego) and places to eat and/or hang out. The accommodations lacked for nothing. The home is quiet as is the neighborhood and parking was not a problem at any time. We all slept well and although available we never had the TV on as we spent quality time visiting and traveling in and out of the coastal area and San Diego. We never missed a sunset at the beach. We highly recommend this VRBO and we will be back for a reunion with our friends. Things we liked: The Coaster train and Trolley system in SD, Mimmo's in Little Italy, the nearby grocery store to stock up on bkfst items, wine, etc., and the next door donut shop, fish tacos and Ca living. You won't lack for things to do. In SD check out the old Navy Training Center (Liberty Station) You will find Stone Brewery, the Fig Tree Cafe as well as numerous eating places all in this wonderfully restored Naval Base. Worth a look.

Beautiful Beach Bungalow Perfect for Families

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 just returned from a lovely stay at Wendy and Paul's beach bungalow and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The house was comfortable and well-provisioned. It was spacious, quiet, and had a lovely garden filled with flowers and a fountain. The kitchen had all the supplies you need to cook meals, including a grill on the patio. There were games and beach toys for the kids, boogie boards, plenty of beach towels and beach chairs. The location is also perfect. Stone Steps Beach is a short walk away and Moonlight Beach is a few blocks away. It is also easy to jump on the interstate for a short drive (25 minutes) into San Diego. I think my favorite part was sitting outside on the patio with a glass of wine, soaking up the sun, while the kids played in the garden. Wendy and Paul live in the back of the property but give you plenty of space so you feel like you have it to yourself. They are also gracious hosts. I hope we can come back next year.

Beautiful home, yard and neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We love spending our spring break in Encinitas, and especially love the beauty and low key nature of this neighborhood. Paul and Wendy's place is a perfect spot for the family. Their garden, and patio extending out into the garden are lovely. My children are already asking why we can't visit more often, especially after getting the watercolor painting of the home after our visit ; )

It's all about the beautiful ocean here but for variety you can take an early morn walk to the Pannikin for a cup of coffee and danish, then take the train north to Disneyland or south to the Del Mar race track and downtown San Diego. If you don't want to cook, a short walk to Vigiluccis fine Italian is nice or go downtown Encinitas for a wide variety of restaurants, night life, shopping and you can take in a movie at the classic La Paloma theater. Encinitas has an awesome botanical garden and the zoo, wild animal park, Sea World, Balboa Park and museums are all great day trips.
