About Jeffrey Stvrtecky
Owners, Jon Douglas Rake and Jeffrey Stvrtecky, have been entertaining people their entire lives. The duo are co-founders and Artistic and Musical Directors of Tacoma Musical Playhouse. TMP is the largest community theater in the four-state Northwest region presenting six fully-staged musicals each season, three children’s musicals, a full-year educational program for youth and seniors. In addition, the Directors lead patrons on musical theater tours to major locations such as New York, Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco, London and many others. “We relocated to Tacoma in 1994 from Los Angeles after having restored five historic homes in the Historic West Adams District, one of which was a bed and breakfast. Our goal was to found our performing arts companies in Tacoma.” We pledge to make your stay at “The Loft” a remarkable experience, whether it’s for business or pleasure.

Why Jeffrey Stvrtecky chose New Tacoma
Drawn to the equally-impressive Historic Stadium District of North Tacoma with its wonderful Victorian and Craftsman homes, we saw the grand potential of 412 North C Street in spite of the fact it had been turned into multiple units by a previous owner. Now it is fully restored to its prior glory as a single-family residence, equal in stature to the surrounding homes of tremendous beauty.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying here and would stay again. We have friends within 9 blocks who didn't have room for us to stay, so this was a perfect place to stay and walk to their place. It overlooked Puget Sound and was very spacious and airy and light. Large kitchen for those who want a longer stay and cook, comfortable bed, plenty of drawer space and very roomy. Jeff and Jon were lovely to meet. Though Jeff was busy with work, he made the time to meet us and offer any help we might need. My only complaint, which is minor and one I already mentioned to Jeff upon departure, is he should have a better window covering to block or at least shade the sun at the window by the bed. It faces East and the sun comes up very early in the summer! And it is like a giant, very bright spotlight right in your eye if you are sleeping on that side of the bed! Sure gets you up early, but if that is not your plan... :) Other than that, the place was fantastic. And I did get a sleep eye mask to sleep with on the last night and that helped :). I would definitely recommend this loft if you are staying in Tacoma. Great location - walking distance to coffee shops, pretty neighborhood, and a great view of the Sound. Also had a private parking spot.
Eye level with the birds!
Loved this place. Great views, spacious, safe upscale neighborhood with easy access to market and restaurants. Jeff and Jon are welcoming helpful hosts.
Thank you for staying. Glad you enjoyed your visit.
Lots of potential
The property is in a lovely old home. The loft has been remodeled and has great potential. Bathroom is very nice and functional. However it is a hodgepodge of old furniture most of which is not useful to the renter. There was only 1 lamp in the apartment by the side of the bed. No side tables and broken down sofa. The kitchen had been remodeled but was extremely dirty. Inside the drawers and cabinets were dust, food bits, and crumbs. The dishes in the cabinets had dried food on them. Cutting boards had dried food. Stove was very dirty. Did have access to a washer and dryer but the closet it was in was filthy and the front loading washer was covered in mold around the door. Never actually saw the owners. It was a busy time for them and we were gone a lot. They were very nice to deal with and gracious on the phone. We had no problems with access to the building. People do need to know if they have problems with stairs that that might be an issue. I just kept looking at the space and seeing how much potential it has to be a phenomenal space with just a bit more effort with furnishings, decent bedding, and above all a good deep cleaning.
Thank you for your review. I find it hard to take very seriously when other reviews are so positive. Perhaps you had a different expectation for what you thought you were renting. The description says a modern loft on the third floor. Stairs are needed to get to the third floor in a private home. The furnishings are antiques and not "hodgepodge." There is a dining table with chairs, a dresser, a wonderful antique bed with good linens, a sofa that is not broken -(many people have used the pull out bed with no complaints) and the kitchen and bath are cleaned and disinfected after each use. There is only one nightstand with a lamp because another would stick out in the room and be a hazard, especially if you were unaware of it in the middle of the night. Who needs side tables when there is a large coffee table? That is your taste. Perhaps if you would have shown up at the time you requested, we would have been able to meet you. After so many hours late, I needed to get to work. This is not a hotel where we wait for guests at their leisure. As for you design suggestions, they are useless to us.
What a view
Beautiful locale and a great host.
This loft apartment is walking distance from a neighborhood grocery store and a handful of great restaurants. Also, the view is stunning.
July dates are disappearing if you're still thinking of staying in the Loft again. Jeff.
The Loft on North C St is in great proximity to all of Tacoma's Performing Arts: Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Tacoma Little Theatre, Broadway Center for the Performing Arts and others.
